Brilliant video. I downloaded GS yesterday for Oculus Quest. I'm an illustrator and character designer and didn't even realise that this kind of sophistication was possible. So looking forward to getting to grips with it. cheers.
This is amazing! Thanks for letting us watch you create this and for explaining how and why you did each step. I learned so many things that I couldn’t figure out by watching the videos on Gravity Sketch’s channel. Most of their videos just show someone doing something without explaining which buttons they pressed to do it, so they’re all pretty mysterious to a GS noob like myself. And it’s great just watching a master at work and to see what is actually possible using the app.
Great demonstration... I'll be watching more of these, I had not idea how to do any of this stuff and you explain it very well! Top work, great vid, another worthwhile subscription!
I love this so much! I'd been messing around trying to make characters with the many different tools, but I hadn't thought of the classic start with a cube method :o This is gonna help me a lot with my project, trying this straight away
I used to noodle with Wings3D back in the day, this reminds me of it a whole lot. Didn't even know that gravity sketch had subD until today, instantly bought it. Looking forward to trying it out!
Is it possible to add, delete, and merge individual vertices, mostly to create poles on the face mesh and splits for articulating the joints? I'd like to make models primarily for character animation using the program if possible.
@@RedRockingBird very kind thank you. I've had to have a bit of a break from VR as my eyes were suffering and I was getting headaches after Inhad covid. Chatting about it is making want to get back into it again and make more content. I was heavily involved with helping Gravity Sketch with the Sub D modelling tools so it has a very special place in my heart
@@SouthernGFX I Spend 2 hours yesterday trying to figure it out how to create a character by myself with just some technical tutorials going crazy and here literally you do all I wanted to learn about 😂😂 .. I wish ai saw it yesterday! I was having issues with too much polygons, I like how you keep it simple, maybe is a stupid question but wich is the tool you use to make this “holes” for the eyes , etc..?
Hey man...I know you since your videos for silo 3d... that's a lot of time 😅 I learned 3d modeling with you, would be great also learn to VR modeling with you...
I was thinking with the alien for mine I'll just to two holes for nostrils , long pointed jaw & chin maybe lightbulb shape head . I'm a beginner so looking forward to using what I've learned in your videos. I wasn't using mirror and it was hard replicating just duplicating then editing so mirror will be essential. ANY TIPS FOR ME ? . Growing up what helped me learn how to draw was some free hand but tracing a lot of things helped out alot , is that another way I could get better at 3d art
You are amazing, I have a big question, I have ready my design in gravity sketch in Quest2, and I want to export to Blender en OBJ but my layer with transparent or not to much capacity, blender open like a normal layer with full opacity. How can I save my transparent layer from gravity to Blender¿? thank a lot for your videos I learn a lot
Awesome video! I was not aware of this program at all. Does this with with Oculus Quest 2? Maybe via Link or Airlink? Also can I export these to FBX? Import to blender or Unity?
Hey @SouthernnGFX , you mention in the video that if you want to be doing this kind of thing you've got to get your anatomy down. How do you recommend doing so?
Always a square. If you start with a sphere you can end up with poles at the top and a mess of triangles. Starting with a square just gives you a very clean starting point with just 5 quads on each side of X. Its different for sculpting but for low poly sub D work I'd advise it.
@@SouthernGFX interesting, seems there is a good number of outdated steam reviews... however i am very weary of the fact that after downloading it to give it a shot, the software seems to be forcing me to make a account, :/
man, you go way too fast for a beginner like me. When you transist into the next step you dont explain how to get there. I have to go back 4 iimes trying to figure out how you did something. ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Hope you have enjoyed my character creation. Is there something you would like me to create in Gravity Sketch? Let me know in the comments below.
Honestly anything. I love the idea of getting in and see what happens
Seriously one of the best tutorials on RUclips. This is a game changer for me. Thank you so much
Love it! It’s really impressive to watch you go straight into polys and create the character straight away.
Thank
you.
Just found this video and it is exactly what I needed! Very informative! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! We are starting to do more Gravity Sketch content so keep an eye out for it!
Never would have thought to try character modelling in Gravity Sketch - really interesting video. Would love to see more.
Thanks, I am glad you like it. There will be plenty more!

This may be the only video I have ever seen on youtube with 0 dislikes. I just got my oculus and i can't wait to dive more into these features!

I keep thinking the same thing... this is like Wingz entered the matrix.
Love your tutorials! Thanks again for the techniques you share!
Thanks. Feedback like that really motivates me.
I am amazed by your creation! Would love to see a full character from head to toe in a similar style. Kinda like overwatch characters! :)
Cool idea! Will do.

Awesome I could totally use gravity sketch for character design. Great tutorial/ explanations
Just stumbled upon this. I have to say you’ve inspired me to start a project as a newbie! Keep up the great work!
Amazing.😮
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video man I’m learning and was wondering if you can do this in gravity sketch, thanks for the tutorial!
Very helpful thanks Glen …although I am scared of getting in Vr 3d modelling …another learning curve to deal with !
It is but it really is a fantastic tool!
You're so good at this. Great narration/guide too !
Thanks for the feedback! Really helps to know people are liking the content and style of delivery.
Am not a modeler by trade but this is so cool.
Thank you and have a great day.
Very impressive to watch
Thank you, I am glad you like it

Its a pleasure and thank you for subscribing. We are about to publish some new GS videos so watch out for them.
Does the quest 2 untethered version have those same polygonal modeling tools?
You the man!! Thank you!!
Thanks! so GREAT job!
Is there a way to have higher resolution?

how do you adjust the area effect at 6:10
Be OFF the model. Hold the GRIP on the dominant hand and push the thumbstick up and down.

Can I make model buildings and characters for my 3d printer?
guna throw this early stage 7:27 mark into the prefabs folder so i can start a face fast next time instead of starting with cubes
Awesome idea

shout out from another Silo3d user :D
This great..do you know how much gravity charges for subscriptions?
It’s free
if I want to sculpt this further in blender how would I do that? thanks for your tuts!
that is so. cool.
Do you usually start with a square for a head vs a sphere?

SouthernGFX makes a lot of sense. Thanks so much!
what vr do u use , can i use gravity sketch with the vr from ps4 ?
Can you import thoses models to vrchat with something ?
What’s wrong with having too many polygons, and can the issue be fixed in another program with repotology?
Becomes a heavy model and can lag
The less polygons, the easier it is for computers to render the models ingame/animation etc.
this is crazy... people have crazy skills and I can’t do shit. I tried that and I couldn’t do more than a line
благодарю!
This is BOB ROSS 2021!!!!!
Why its look so easy
Can u create NFT’s with this?
I too would like to know
Looks like ishowspeed 😂
Hahaha he does!!!
Oculus Q2 cannot handle subdivision
That's not true actually, It works just fine with Quest 2
I got abducted. 😥
Dam!!!! Watch out for those probes!
