Such a great song! I saw LP like 17-18 yrs ago on the Outer Banks in NC during her "Suburban Sprawl and Alcohol" tour (I HIGHLY recommend this record, every song is phenominal!) whe she was nearing the end of that title track on stage, I was at the bar talking with the bartender and LP hit that long high vocals towards the end if it just caught mine and the bartenders attention. We both said at the same time, "Holy shit!" It was at that moment that I grabbed a seat at the end of the place and immersed myself into the show. Her vocal range is something that just captivates you. As I mentioned earlier, Suburban Sprawl and Alcohol cd is one I have in my car and listen to alot. To think now, that this is some of her "older" stuff is amazing because if played right now on the radio, they'd be hits. That's how timeless her stuff is in my opinion.

She is astonishing and an outstanding performer. She writes music for herself and others. He catalog of songs is so varied, and her voice, is amazing and take your breath away. First time I saw this, I also thought boy, but figured it out pretty quick, yes a woman, yes Laura P. When she performs live in other venues she has another larger band with her that are totally also awesome. You really need to listen and see more of her songs and videos. Someone mentioned Muddy Waters, yes it's really good. And so many more. A favorite of mine is "Shaken" and a slower sad one is "Recovery" but is just stunning. "When We're High" there are just too many to mention, you need to just go and do all of them.

I just discovered LP. Love their work. I enjoyed your reaction too. I had the same first 15 seconds you had, then I decided I didn't care what their gender was and got on with it without deciding. LOVED IT and have loaded a few of their songs onto my phone. This particular song, however, is 100% percent hook from beginning to end. It's a flipping earworm and I love it.
She is my favorite artist hands down and I have followed her for years, I even got tickets to 2 shows then missed them because of Covid. A Thai airline flight to Taiwan made me hooked on LP through their in-flight system. I had not heard about her before, but then I realized she is a fantastic singer/song writer I need to explore. This song is an absolute favorite but Other People, Tight Rope and Muddy Waters was the song that made it for me since it some how related much to me...I think it is on the same album.
LP is the bomb. Great reaction. My only disagreement is the song, to me, has an Appalachian Mountain area vibe to it, like deeeeeep, deep in the hills; it's hard to make that area, that culture sound sweet to me, but she does so for me in this song. I highly recommend the song "Strange" - it's incredible.
