This Les Misérables parody is the story of John Brownjean going through his academic career of high school, college, and grad school.
Written by Justin Mertes
Music accompaniment by Susanna Yatsko
This is a group of us from John Brown University. A large group were music majors. I wrote and directed it, and we all had a total blast. Thanks so much for the encouragement!
So are you flippin' burgers now or are you in the musical theatre business?
@@NikoHL ha, neither.
This is still epic mate, 9 years later
That guy has the perfect javert voice
yes lol 😂
He should play the part for real
Oh absolutely
OBSESSED WITH LES MIS SO VERY OBSESSED WITH THIS
OMFFFGG SAME 😂
me too!
I am totally obsessed with Les Miserables, and this was very clever and well sung. Amazing performance keep up the good work.
this was brilliantly executed and their voices really brought it together i love this
Suzie Dayz thanks Suzie!!
Now I'm inspired to do something like this for my talent show-only hating on my choir teacher (who also is directing Les Mis for us)
This parody is too underated
These students can really sing. And they can laugh at themselves.
2.601! I couldn't stop laughing
Ha, thanks! Glad you liked it :)
Les Mis is one of my favorite musicals and I found this to be amazing
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I'VE SEEN EVER
How did you fit the whole of Les Miserables into 9 minutes? And very well at that
Ha, thank you! I can't describe it any other way than, "it just came to me." I had the idea for his name, and then the "two-point-six-oh-one" and then it really wrote itself.
@@justinmertes wow you're still replying 7 years later! And well done, it's really clever
@@theemeraldking9 🥳
So manny perfect parody moment 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ha, thanks!
I watched this video over and over again back to 2016, cant believe its already 7 years ago and here i am again, what a classic
2.601 this is amazing
Ha, thanks! Before I ever wrote the full script or any of this came to be, that was the second joke that entered my mind. The first was, "John Brownjohn," then quickly after, "2.601." After that it just had to come to life.
Just came across this-most enjoyable
THIS is the BEST version of the miserable I've seen (after the miserable movie and the muscial) 😂😂
Agreed 👍 👍.
Wow!! I wish I had the words to this so I could do it for my college talent show.
I watched this first thing in the morning and it has already made my day so much better

In the academic world, achieving tenure is receiving the guarantee of employment for as long as you choose. Getting tenure is a huge deal, so not getting it is devastating.
It's synonymous with him committing suicide in the book/movies.
He interrupts Rod Reed, saying "Rod Reed you didn't get tenure".
Darn clever American Uni students!
6:28 she's amazing
I don't mean to be judgemental, and don't say "Can you sing better? So don't judge!1!1!!!!1" because I CAN sing.
This is good, I adore it. The only one I'm disappointed in is, my favourite character, Éponine. I just didn't like her voice at all... I noticed she started to get out of breath. I suggest more practise ^^ After that, I'm sure she'll be great. She'll be AMAZING
EeveeWantsToPlay i think so too
EeveeWantsToPlay agreed
Cosette is BEAUTIFUL!!! 😍 wowza. Omg. I want to marry her.

Justin, what is this group/college and who is the director? You? Well done!
Javerts the best
Really awesome!!! What school or college was this?
It's at John Brown University! The main character, John Brownjohn, was a play on words :)
A parody of Valjean cool.
What for he say at 8:11???

And test will not be comprehensive
