  • From August through September 2019, we traveled out to the beautiful country of Ireland! In this video, we document day five where Brad traveled out to the island of Skellig Michael! It's a beautiful monastary island where Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi filmed.
    Kelli and Lincoln took the Skellig Michael Eco tour, traveling around the island via boat. Brad took the landing tour for the island.

    I'm ashamed ro say that as an Irish person, I have never been to the Skellig. I loved your video, showing the scenery from different perspectives . Lovely video.

    Refuse to call this Star Wars island it’s Michal island disrespectful to the monks who worked hard to build this place make their homes plant their gardens so amazing could never do these stairs insane

      I couldn’t agree more! I was so bothered all anyone talks about is Star Wars. Who cares! What about the history of the devout men who died building this!? Society is so shallow these days it makes me sick.

    • @BradJost
      @BradJost  3 года назад +1

      Obviously it has a long and storied history, but it's impossible to deny the light that has been shed on it due to the production of Star Wars. It is always Skellig Michael, but it can mean more than one thing to people. Also, the stairs weren't too bad.

      Sorry to hear this content makes you sick. All you had to do was not watch it.

      @@BradJostI agree. Skellig Micheal has got a lot more popular now since star wars was filmed, I know that I learned about it from an early age at school but that's cause I'm irish, doubt anyone outside of ireland knew of it's existance before star wars was filmed,so it is good for our tourism to have so many fans come over.
      And in regard to the people giving out about it in these posts, your video was respecting the island and showing Points of reference to what was filmed where, so dunno why they're giving out. Excellent work 👍
      If you were playing the star wars theme over it, then it'd be different, but you werent

    So cool! Going to Ireland in April but the landing tours won’t be open yet so we’re going to do the eco tour where you ride around the islands instead.

    Thanks for this great insight into what I plan to do in June (visiting this place). Hope you didn't give to much of your time behind the lens. I also hope the weather will be kind to me & let me & let me travel to this great place.

      Glad you could gain something from it. I hope you have good weather too! I had a balanced enough time filming stuff and enjoying myself. I really enjoy shooting video like this, so I don't mind.

      Ireland has to be probably the only country in the world where we get 4 different seasons weather all in 1 day 😂
      I hope you did get the weather to land, I've had 1 trip canceled and the 2nd went ahead, I'm going for my 3rd trip now this weekend so really hoping it stays decent. Our weather system is real bad here in ireland. More rain the sun 😂
      But I suppose I have it quite lucky in the sence it's only a 4 hr diive for me, as opposed to those of you who would travel over from the states where its a lot harder to get the chance to get to it

    1. Oldest well-preserved christian monastic site in the world, built into a rock-pyramid of an island 12 miles off the coast where monks would live for years on end living off fish from the sea .... Meh.
    2. Venue for filming of a small part of a Star Wars film .......... people go bonkers.
    Modern culture.

    Hi Brad
    I love star wars and I booked my tickets for August this year... I'm in panic with the high, if I look to the opposite side it's possible to not see how high it is?
    Any advice?

    • @BradJost

      hmmm... it's a pretty tall island and the paths are really narrow/on the side of a cliff. I would say go for it though... it has amazing views!

    The video was good but I’m disappointed no talk at all about the actual history of it or the devout men who died making it. So shallow and disrespectful to only talk about Star Wars. Who cares!

    • @BradJost
      @BradJost  3 года назад +5

      Why would I talk about something I don't know enough about. I'd rather leave that to the historians. This was a personal journey to the island, not a video meant to teach any history.

    • @Ellemerob
      @Ellemerob 3 года назад +1

      Look up the history of the island yourself. There are other RUclips videos that explain the history. It would be very tedious if all the videos on Skellig Michael were all the same.
