It's nice to see you tending to and making improvements not only to the house but to other areas of your home as well. Investing in the future. Great episode guys. 👍🏼🎄
I really enjoyed this video. Your land is looking wonderful all the things you're growing amazing. And I love seeing the chickens and the dogs too. Keep up the good work. It's certainly a lot of hard work. One of these days it's all going to be finished and it will be beautiful. I miss your cooking! I know it's hard to fit it all in!
Hi, I live in Western Australia , our climate is very similar to yours. Very hot summers. My trick when replanting advanced trees is to place a small piece of polly pipe, about 1 meter long, into the hole so one end at the bottom and the other sticking out above the ground, when watering the tree you can then water into the pipe and the water will go right to the roots of the tree and not run off when the soil is water resistant. This has worked for me for really large advanced trees. Well done with all your efforts to establish your farm.
They are also known as prickly pear here in Queensland and were declared as a noxious weeding the 1920s, The Government offered blocks of farming land to returned soldiers to build on. My parents had a "soldiers block" provided her clears the land of the prickly pear. The ones you have are mere babies compared to those that grow in parts of Queensland and could be called prickly pear trees,
Been watching you for a while now and I just always love every single video. You 2 make me laugh so much, you"re such lovely people. My dog sometimes watches too and is jealous as she sees how much space your dogs have to run around. Lots of love from The Netherlands
Keep in mind that this stone could be a landmark on a neighbor's land, old landmarks are like that and these letters that appear are the initials of the original owner's name. It is prohibited to move them from the original site, if it is confirmed that it is a landmark. I'm a big fan of your good work in regenerating this beautiful piece of land. cheers
What an ingenious idea with the Indian figs and olive trees. Little Hattie aerating the soil around the newly planted trees❤. You’re right G, you can never have too many plants and the landscaping is very attractive with your Roman?? signpost.
That puppy is the most adorable little thing. Your land looks so beautiful this time of year. Love your project G. Have a great week guys! 💙 I love these cactus ❤
That was a productive and stress-free day. I adore the Indian fig fence. I'm looking forward to watching it grow -what clever idea. Great job, well done. Forehead kisses all around and an extra one for Guffy, he's had some adjusting to do with his new sister. Thanks for having me over. See you next time.❤
Fun day off👍, even if its planting and doing land taske, its enjoyable. Looks great too. The Old beams🙏🙏🎄🎄Be blessed Andrus & Gi . that puppy is Fun Lol😂🤣
You can't make everyone happy in terms of content... I prefer the "green" side of your life and the animals but not everyone loves chickens as much as I do. The building stuff is nice as well but sometimes I get tired just watching you guys slaving away. 😁 I was in a grumpy mood until I watched the puppy 'helping' to do the digging for that small tree! He looked so cute later when he was passed out on the ground as you put in your fence posts. Puppies are like toddlers in that they race around like madmen and suddenly drop where they are to have a nap. My older son says that kids of a certain age are like lithium batteries... full of energy and suddenly empty.
It's really good to change up focus so projects stay fresh and fun. Wow, looks like you scored those young olivr trees at the nursery! I do admire your foraging on your own land for the trees and their growing medium. Omg, the most helpful (🤔) puppy girl ever! 😂 What a comedian, just like Dad. Whatever Dad does, puppy does (sort of) (not really)... flops on the ground where you're working, then comes back to gnaw on Mum and the camera. Love her 😍. Tht is something that you have rioening strawberries in December. You can still make jam or tarts! I hope those persimmons can mellow (and not be astringent) -- if so, you can make a wonderful persimmon custard from them. And jam too? Oh, wow, G, your project just gave your homestead a kind of cool hacienda look 🤩!
We call those cacti, nopales or prickly pear cactus. The tender leaves are quite delicious. Remove the spikes and peel then you can cut and prepare as desired. There’s a whole process that you can probably google. They are very good cooked with chorizo or pickled and spiced and used as a taco add on.😊 I haven’t tried the fruit but I’ve heard it’s quite good as well.
Another hilarious moment when as fast as Andrius was putting soil into the hole, Betty was digging it back out again!!! But obviously in the name of 'helping' bless her.. ❤ Is the stone the corner of the property stone which was annoyingly in the way as you turned into your drive? Xx
Hi G and Andrius, I like your animals all and your quinta is famous. The 3 chicks from september are really very nice. We have alsou our last 7 chcick on 10 november. Did you know that an indian fig leaf is called a prickly pear in South Africa and that you can eat the fruit of the prickly pear ask Cindy Vine she will confirm it
In the USA we call our version of those cacti OPTUNIA Prickly Pear Cactus. I never heard the Indian Fig name said before on any of the other portugal homestead channels I watch. I like the Indian Fig name!. They ARE true cacti though! Portugal, prickly pear cacti are called "figo da Índia" (meaning "Indian fig") which translates to the scientific name "Opuntia ficus-indica". Prickly pear cacti in Portugal are not the same as those in the United States because prickly pears are native to the Americas and have been introduced to other parts of the world: Native range Prickly pears are native to the western hemisphere, including the arid and semi-arid regions of the United States and Mexico, as well as the Caribbean islands. Introduced species Prickly pears have been introduced to other parts of the world, including Portugal. Appearance Prickly pears are flowering plants with fleshy oval pads called pencas that grow on top of each other. They have white spines that can be flat, curved, or straight, and are covered with tiny barbed hairs called glochids. Reproduction Prickly pears can reproduce by re-rooting, regrowing, or producing seeds. I LOVE YOUR CACTI AND OUR CACTI JUST AS MUCH! I'M A HUGE CACTUS AND SUCCULENT FAN MYSELF. i love plants in general!!! I L9VE THOSE CACI
