For the non horse people, "going for a hack" means having a leisurely ride on a well broken horse (one that a beginner could handle).
Thanks. I knew the word, but not the precise meaning.
Thanks! I was wondering what that meant.
Nowadays here it just means going for a ride, and definitely not for a beginner.- you need to be able to control your horse at all paces and in a variety of situations. Beginners going pony rides, where they learn how sto do exactly that
Thank you for updating me! 😸
I have desensitized a few horses to various "fashions" and things they could encounter! I have a huge bedspead with double ruffles and lace with fancy ribbon tassels that we use. I have insured a few brides and riders in fancy dress had safe and uneventful rides! Love my horses....also love these period costumes!
I had to laugh when I saw this. 90% of the time when I wear HI cloth (pretty much every day), I wear a pair of long pants of that type underneath. I didn’t realize that it was also done that way in the 1850’s and 60’s . I started doing it after watching videos from Russia and the Middle East. That extra layer are really nice, especially during the colder time of the year
That lovely rich burgundy is one of my favourite colours. A magnificent Friesian horse is the perfect equine partner for that wonderful colour!
Very interesting about the elastic! I did not know, it was common before WW2, never mind the 1850s 👀
The flow of the fabric and the color, against the dark horse, is visually stunning!
I finally looked up Ashley Court and it's stunning. Your videos are always so calming and interesting, plus the beautiful period home enhances the perfectly handmade outfits of the past. You deserve to have so many more subs. Blessings to your family and of course the horse.
As soon as you mounted the horse, wearing the '50s outfit, I thought "I hope she has a bomb-proof mount that doesn't mind the flapping fabric!" While I'm (as always) in awe of your design and sewing skills (is "sewist" the right word, or is that insulting?) The color is beautiful, the covered buttons are amazing! I must say that the 1850s and 1860s are not my favorite Victorian fashion period. I was recently an "extra" in a made for tv movie set in the 1860s and very early 1870s. Getting out of the voluminous bell-shaped crinoline for one slightly flattened in the front was a delight.
Thank you for adding subtitles, I'm from Russia. Your videos are very good.
Belated Happy New Year, Izabela and company! My goodness, just look at all the fabric in that skirt! Our ancestors' outfits could be very glam, but I'm glad I can get by with jeans and a T-shirt!
I'm so excited for Equestrian Dressmaker to finally be out! I've been looking forward to it for so long!
Has been out since November!
Oh Izabela, you look so beautiful that I'm crying whilst clutching my non exsistant pearls.
Very lovely habit both eras. I'm glad you are doing well. Happy belated 2024. You are still just as gorgeous as always and the horse, oh I love that beautiful animal.😊 Say cheerio to your wonderful hubby. Take care.
Lovely video with gorgeous habits. You look fabulous riding that beautiful horse
Thank you for another interesting video!🐾🌻
Take a hint from the late Queen Elisabeth II: always pin your hat to your hair!
Not possible with this hairdo. See our video on the hairpins!
It’s a lovely color❤
What very smart outfits! I wouldn't care to jump fences in that huge skirt though! 🐎💚🐎
25:39 I love how extra long the skirt is. The outfit is amazing looking.
I wondered why the skirt was so long that it had to be worn over the arm. I understood it only in the video - it definitely looks amazing on the horse.
I love the frogging on the second jacket!
You might be the best horsewoman I know of; riding sidesaddle takes especial skill and ability!
I am most definitely not. Sidesaddle is a skill but once you have a saddle that fits well to you and to the horse, it is a pleasure!
Thank you for your New video❤
Oh goodness now where have I seen those suits before. Oh yea, my wardrobe. :D
I wanna horsey! But I live in a big city and have a limited income. So I have to do w a cat and a dog.🐈⬛🐕
Love the color
Danke, sehr interessant 😊
@priorattire there is a typo in your title.
Beautiful braiding.
Beautiful outfits and great information! I didn't realize elasticated sportswear corsets were that old. I've mostly heard about them in the 1890s. How much fabric does it take to make a skirt like that?
E pattern and instructions in the book :-)
I remember seeing a photo of a similar-era New York city courtesan and accomplished horsewoman, very famous in her time, mounted on a gorgeous horse in a habit that was tailored to the nth degree and extremely form fitting. Very, very beautiful. Her waist was exquisitely tiny. She drove the men mad as she rode by in Central Park. Such is the power of a well-fitting habit, as you demonstrate in your video here.
Is that your horse? What a beauty he is!
I LOVE the riding dress. but the first jacket was beautiful but the other one looked better the black brocade made it pop.
No black brocade was used ….
And every rider in the land cheered when elasticated leg cuffs were invented.
There’s a little error in the title: I think it’s 1850 instead of 18500 :)
It's very impressive that she already knows what people will be wearing that far into the future 😛
@@LadyDragonbane ohhh that’s it! ;) Fashion often makes a come back, so you’re probably right hahah
There was quite an echo I had to put the subtitles on to understand properly vertically interesting as always ! ❤
Very beautiful riding gown, the jackets are both exquisit! You look great on the stunning horse! Sadly there was so much echo in the room, it was very difficult to understand what you were saying.
Put the caps on!
I got sound back 🎉
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👐👐👐👐👍👍👍😻
What color was the brocade then I would like to know please if you don't mind thank you.
I didn’t use any brocade at all?
More so Video...😊😊😅😅😅😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
when did it become standard to wear heeled shoes for riding ?
I'm getting no sound 😢
Stop start over, sound is fine.
It took me a while to come around to watching this video, but this outfit is really stunning! However, as an equestrian, the lack of safety when you are riding kind of stresses me out... no safety gear and this really long skirt seems like it could easily be a dangerous combo with a horse. I get that for historical accuracy, and the aestetic, safety gear is not ideal, but still...
I know how to sew corsets so I can get a job
The so can start you up www.priorattire.co.uk/ourshop/prod_8098470-Making-a-standard-corset-186080s-recording.html
I think the outfit was perfectly complete when the video started and see no reason to go more elaborate.
She was in her underwear? Lol
That was her under garments
@@yeshualionofjudah7107I think that’s why he liked it.
Scandalous! 😂
I love the presentation but the echoing is very distracting. I think you need a microphone.
I have one. Echo even worse. The joys of historical places. That is why I have caps on.
The volume was very echoing. Perhaps you need a microphone.
Very difficult to understand what you are saying with all that echo.
Please invest in a wearable microphone.
That is why I pay the big bucks for the captions…
i understand but not everyone is capable to read captions AND watch what you are doing. With a tie microphone, we might have some noise due to the clothing, but it would be very very more understandable and way cheaper than paying for subtitles I guess.@@priorattire
@@yazdhenab. I agree. Captions are very distracting.
This video was unwatchable for me.
I love your videos but couldn't finish watching this one because of the hollow echo. Just awful.
Just put caps on!
@priorattire The auto generated captions are really bad, not helpful at all. I do like your videos, but really so many of them are extremely difficult to understand.
@@kathleenstoin671 It takes a few hours, but the CC does catch up. I watch with the CC on all the time. I'm very easily overstimulated.
The echo in the room makes it hard to understand you
Put the caps on !
