    As a rather large boobed lady, I'm seriously considering making some short stays to wear on the daily rather than putting up with hot, sweaty, uncomfortable synthetic bras!

    • @sinndymorr6358

      I was just imagining how comfortable that linen would be. The heatwave that's gripping the US is horrid. Menopause and hot flashes makes me wish for winter 😂

      @@sinndymorr6358 I've heard that clothing back then was much more breathable due to less synthetic fabrics, so I feel like it would have been better back then than with today's fabrics!

      The way that stays seem to distribute the weight of supporting a larger chest across the torso definitely seems like it would be worth trying? A lot of modern bras seem to hang most of the weight off the shoulders on fairly narrow straps, which can definitely pinch nerves and cause significant pain.

    You know those stays look far more comfy than a normal bra.When your a bit large the bras are always uncomfortable.And dig in here and there.That looks so much more comfortable.I loved the whole outfit it’s exquisite as always,and your husband looks like a fine gentleman too lol!

      @kerriemckinstry-jett8625 7 месяцев назад +6

      It doesn't matter what size you are, stays are more comfortable. I'm not large in any direction & my husband has commented on how my bra straps don't look comfortable on my shoulders. Yup, modern bras. I made myself 1780s stays & 1810s stays which distribute weight much better (i.e. not on your shoulders). They're a pain to get in & out of, and the 1810s stays require my husband to help me, otherwise I would wear them more often.

    I love the sense of humour you and Lucas share! Always really fun seeing how the couples' outfits work together ❤️ The colour scheme of this was very reminiscent of the 1995 Pride & Prejudice miniseries! Huge kudos for the patience involved in applying all the piping, double piping, and ribbon decoration on the spencer jacket, I can only imagine how many hours of close detail work that involved 😵

I feel like one could 'stealth' historical dress much more easily in that, esp. if not keen on adding a bonnet... In comparison to 1400s or 1830s fashion for example, which looks so much more startling to a modern eye! 😆

      idk if it was done in that period as well but ive seen people lace themselfs into a corset. It looked pretty easy, you just need to be able to reach your back. once you got the end of the string you just pull outwards/to your sides and wiggel a it a bit. If you can reach you can pull stuff that got stuck free.

    Shameless, running off like that. You'll end up in the Workhouse, Prison, or transported to New South Wales.

    I really really do want to watch this but I'm having a hard time with auditory processing lately and all of the hard surfaces reflecting sound or making it unintelligible for me. When you do these could you please consider laying out some fabric especially if there is hardwood flooring to dull the sound a bit. I do love your work 💙

      @Ericat257 I wasn't sure either. I've been following this channel for years and I had to come to the comments to be certain.

    Please let your husband have some screen time! You enjoy the camera and I like watching what goes into the dressing up of centuries past, but your poor husband doesn't get a look in! I am also interested in what the men used to wear, so please draw breath and let your gorgeous husband take center fold for once! Or at least let him have more time to show and tell...
    The other day I watched one of you, where you said that there are quite a few people copying you with period dressing up, but none of them are anywhere near as good as you. You have your own unique style and express yourself with confidence, so long may you reign!
