    @4 God I normally tune my snare to its natural tone(top and bottom equally)... Also at times I tune my snare to the key (5th degree) of songs if I'm in a recording session.
    Learned more about tuning from Dave Weckl's video...

    how did you not cramp up and do some of your fill? I messed my leg up about 5 years back and never got back on a kit because what happens if I mess up, you know any advice for someone like me, please help.

    • @laykay002
      @laykay002  8 лет назад +2

      Oh wow Francis. So sorry to hear about that. I do make sure I go through a stretching routine before I hop on the kit. Especially if I'll be playing for long. I make sure I walk around a lot or even do like a 10mins run if possible.
      Also I'll advice once you start playing, don't play with too much power especially when you get excited. Try never to play with too much power. Tell the sound engineers to increase the volume and you play less.

    What’s the name of the song you started playing after 1 minute. The one that keeps repeating “arise”. I’ve heard it in many of your festival of life videos and I can’t get it out of my head. It’s catchy and I would like to hear how the original version sounds

    • @laykay002
      @laykay002  6 лет назад

      mivic ollennu it’s “Arise”...
      You can check out Sound of the new breed “Arise”
      I guess it’s originally written by Don Moen.

      OK thanks a lot for replying. Really appreciate it. I'm quite young so its a dream for me to play in a place like festival of life because I've been there a few times.I play for my church and I want to incorporate some things like your afro style where you predominantly use the snare and the toms and the cymbals

    Hey I just want to say ur hand speed is so smooth and the way mover around the drums is precise. I wanted to know how did you get to that stage and how did you improve ur hand speed ?

      @laykay002  9 лет назад

      Thank you so much.
      It's all in the Vater 55AA sticks lol....
      Erm I just exercise as much as I can. I exercise with my rudiments...I also focus on my precision when I'm practicing.

    @Laykay how many hours do you put into your personal/daily routine on the kit?

    • @laykay002
      @laykay002  7 лет назад

      Hiya... Started with 6-8hrs daily, and then reduced to 4hr and then 3hr. These days it varies...I'm always between 1hr-2hr-3hrs depending on how much i need to get prepared for what i've got ahead
