    Making use of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxcJ22tnHH9l1vjdIdEIG27iOG55P7LXI8 reconditioning plan, I just saved 2 auto batteries from being completely junked. The guides were very simple to follow. I wish I would have found this years ago! You may use the guide to recondition any battery type

    Great! I'm going to try it. Btw, can you please show me how did you connected the screws with the 18650 holder.? I'm a bit confused with wire connection to the 18650 holder. Just to be cautious not to short it.

    Great Plan. i have several old cameras that i hate only because they use "AA"'s , i don't think i will hack up my new cannon though. LOL cost too much to experiment on.
    the dash cam things a cool Idea also but that sucker will go flying if you get in a accident. might want to rig a better stand up on it for that. i am going to go price some 18650s and chargers. maybe i can hack and old cordless drill charger for that purpose. i am thinking there may be a lot of more uses for 18650 battery hacks. maybe to make the solar powered led lights work better.

    the cover metal plate should not short the 2 screws. Instead of the screws, you can use any cylindrical piece with just a wired electrical contact at the bottem

    Nice :) so this works but I am thinking of getting a 14500 battery (same as 18650 fully charge is 4.2v but only lower in capacity but it's the same same as AA battery) and use with a fully drained AA battery as a bridge to complete the circuit so I don't need to mod for the external battery pack :)

    i love your video thank you for the idea. but are the extra voltage not of concern, i thing you can put a diode to remove .7v from the 18650 thereby making the voltage closer to that of the AA battery

      I think modern cameras can work on 3,7V, almost all cameras with AAs have possibility to buy li-ion. In may old ultrazoom camera is settings for it. there is NiMh, Alkaline or li-ion

  • @KyleHu

    is over-discharging of the 3.6v li-ion battery a concern? That camera probably runs on double 1.2v Ni-Mh batteries as well, which could bring the voltage down to 2.0v. But if you have recycled batteries from laptops I guess it's disposable :D Good idea though!

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  7 лет назад

      over-discharging the Li-ion battery is not a concern in this case. This camera consumes so much power that once my Li-ion battery goes down to 3.6V, it starts to give low-battery warning. So it's just a perfect time to pull it out to recharge!

    • @KyleHu
      @KyleHu 7 лет назад

      Interesting, it takes two 1.5v AA = 3v and how was those power the camera?

    DIY: Hack a camera or device that runs on AA 1.5V batteries to run on 18650 or lithium.

  • @mendebil
    @mendebil 2 года назад

    Lucky the camera doesn't get fried on a full charge. 18650 hits 4.2VDC fully charged, while two AA in series are only 3V. For the car you should use a step down from 12V lighter yo 3V you can use an adjustable MP2307 module to power literally any camera

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  2 года назад

      Actually a new AA is about 1.65V each so both of them are more like 3.3V. After 4 years, it's still working like new. I use it almost everyday.

  • @Pidalin
    @Pidalin 6 лет назад

    I have same idea. Using 18650 or 14500 li-ions is big fucking moneyhack. I don't understand why it's not standard in all cameras and similar electronics. We buying it in expensive plastic box now.

      I think the electronics inside can tolerate between 2.7v and 4.5v ... that is why u have been using it with no problems at all. The question is, do all cameras can support up to 4.5v?
