You are right. It's exact same language. No one thinks it's different language. But I guess in terms of accent, it is different. In same way Taiwan and China's mandarin are same. But it just has accent difference. We can call it dialect.
It's the same language, right. But a language comprises of many dialects and sometimes are pluricentral, meaning it has more than 1 standard form. Here in Korean, there's North (문화어-Munhwaŏ) and South Korean (표준어-Pyojuneo) standard language based on their most important variety in the region.
Not only Korean, Hongkong Cantonese and Macau Cantonese is also the same language, Chinese Mandarin and Taiwanese Mandarin is also the same language, too.

Mongolia is pretty much part of East Asia and Central Asia culturally. I think Mongolia has more cultural connections with Central Asia than East Asia. There was even a time where Mongols and Turkic people shared a common religion called Tengrism which is a Turco-Mongol but mostly Turkic religion
I'm Mongolian and believe me we have nothing to share with turkey or central asia in general rather than nomadic culture. We are buddhist shamanist northeast asian country, respect that, or be quiet.

There are actually about 30 kinds of dialects in China, including Mandarin(in Peking), Cantonese (in Canton), etc.
Also not all Mongolians are using Cyrillic letters. They have there own writing system.
