      I wouldn’t be sure, Lasha looks beaten to bits lately and well past his best , only Shi looks more uncomfortable under heavy a barbell
      I think Lalayan can beat Lasha
      He would have got that 215kg snatch today if he really had to and had a few more kg in the Jerk
      Can Lasha still total over 470kg?
      It will need a Usain Bolt Rio 2016 type performance from Lasha to win it, well past your prime but still so good you can’t be beat

    I for the life of me do not understand the decision of Simon Martirosyan to compete in superheavies. He is less than 6ft, he simply does not have the body structure and corresponding mass to compete in the heaviest category. As a result - his super talent will get him high, like here where he ended 4th, but he will never be the top. He should have stayed in 109kg category and collect medals until retirement.

    • @diegoguerra8139

      they are all aiming for the gold. Since 109 is no longer a Olympic Category he decided to go up. He must feel it’s easier than cutting down to the 102 which is already a very competitive Armenian category (Gasparyan and Karapetyan).

    You know what's nuts? Even if Lasha competed, the Iranians and Lalayan would've pushed him hard in this one. For Lalayan to hit 253kg is nuts, Lasha might've missed a 255kg as he's been known to botch those 3rd attempt clean & jerks.

      @@manny8404on his second snatch the jury stopped the competition because they wanted to determine if it was a pressout. The jury eventually agreed it wasn't a pressout and gave him the lift.
      The IWF president came to the jury and told them it was disgraceful they said it wasn't a pressout. So the next lift he made (which would be an international PR) they ruled as a pressout even though it was in no way a pressout it was better than the second snatch.

      @johnsonhuang5704 2 месяца назад +6

      @@januszspawania This is just pieces of what I've picked up from reading RUclips and Reddit Weightlifting, but apparently Lasha is not in good shape at the moment due to cumulative damage from lifting at this level (and dominating both domestically and internationally) since 2015 and his increasing body size/weight (he weighed in at 183kg or 402.6lbs). All that takes a toll. People in the training hall have noted him in pain lifting weights that were reasonably light for him in the past. I don't doubt he could win gold at this event as well, but at this point he's already got 7 golds from IWF World Championships (and just 2 golds from the Olympics) so I think it's fair to say that the latter gold is of higher importance to him (hence just the weigh in). There's even rumour of him retiring after Paris due to his current condition. But again, just stuff I read so take it with a grain of salt.
