Yeah, even the training manuals and videos by the Wehrmacht in 1938 do address Left hand supposed to hold it under the weapon where the "Safety" knob is.. My first one I COULD hold by the magazines! And it ran flawlessly!
Took mine out last week for the first time and having seen this video prior to the gun arriving to my FFL dealer, I thought oh boy am I going to have the same issues? Nope! It functioned beautifully, I love it!
Good luck with your MP. I had a similar problem with my Ruger mini-14 not feeding right, tried different mags, had gunsmiths look at it and it still does it??? I asked ATI to let me know when they get the stock kits, I will go do the SBR paperwork drill so to complete the gun as it should look.
I had the same issue with mine with every other round! I mailed my firearm FOUR times to American Tactical for a warranty repair until they finally replaced it with a new after exactly one year of not being able to enjoy this piece. I had the exact same problem after each time I received it back after a couple part replacements (spring, and firing pin) then mailed it back on the day of getting it in the mail after hearing they “couldn’t find anything wrong.” I sent pictures and a video but that didn’t do justice until they decided to put 10 mags into it until it had finally malfunctioned on their end. This week I got a whole new mp40, folding stock, and couple bonus mags for free! *excluding the $75 transfer fee*. They did hook me up with good service but I couldn’t believe it has taken a year until I can finally enjoy my first ever gun purchase that was gifted to me just before active duty service. I just went through three full mags with 3 different brands, grain, and types of 9mm Lugers with zero issues 👍 it’s great, fun, cool, and super versatile for a legal ‘conceal carry handgun’ but be warned!
Had the same problem, talked to a gun smith, apparently you should load the GSG mp40 clone with the bolt closed, then cock it. Have not had a problem since when I load it that way.
It's a simple mechanism made complicated by the addition of a semi-auto modification. Reduce the variables especially the ammo. No flat nose no lead tipped, no high powered ammo, don't cock it till you load it, and don't hold it by the damn magazine and do not "limpwrist" it. It was mostly used with the ah non-existent (on this model) stock extended in spite of the movies, it was mostly folded for carrying. and not bravely charging that machine gun nest firing from the hip.
I have one of these the first one I bought had this issue as well .I sent it back they said it was fixed after six weeks ,it went through a mag and just a few rounds before doing it again .I sent it back again and after another six weeks they decided they couldn't figure it out and sent a new gun. It did the same thing and I sent it back . ATI put a new hammer spring in it and sent it back .It fired one mag and three rounds before quitting completely . Now I have not been able to get any real help from ATI . I got an email that i should be getting a label to send it back again but have yet to get it after several weeks . No contact from them .
ILOVESHOOTINGSHIT My MP-40 was having light primer strike issues too. I took it to a gunsmith and he replaced the "Hammer Spring (Main spring)" with one that was twice a strong!! No more light primer strike issues!! He said, and I agree that GSG probably used the same "Hammer Spring" that they used on the .22 MP-40. Too weak!!! Thought you'd like to know. Now the MP-40 is my favorite firearm again......
Just got mine brand new 3 shots and then it looks like a sewing needle just scratches the back of the primer sucks that I can't shoot it do you happen to know what spring he used many thanks
I just picked mine up yesterday it fires every time but my issue is sometimes when it’s expecting the round the bolt will close on the empty case holding the bolt open while a live round is in the chamber. Maybe it’s because I was holding the mag maybe not but other then that I love it
@@CodeRed001 I’m in the same boat as you Bubba. I’ll just push thru with the SBR tax stamp First then wait to see if one is available. The stamp allows to make one. Bummer. Good luck
The only thing the manual says is not to hold the magazine. It says nothing about holding it by the magazine well. If you look at old combat footage from WW2 that's where they held the MP40 is by the magazine well and resting your other 2 fingers on the magazine. I have held mine the same way he held his and had no issues at all with my MP40.
For those who are thinking about buying a mp40. DO NOT PUT YOUR HAND ON THE MAGAZINE. It fucks up the feeding process. I’m not making fun or saying that these folks are stupid but I’m telling you what I learned from my mistakes. I had the same problem and I couldn’t figure out what the hell it was. I sold it and dude that I sold it to told me that I was an idiot for selling it for no reason except shooter error. I tried buying it back from dude but dude has the legal rights to it. Now I can’t find another one and I regret not having enough knowledge to understand the mechanics of this fantastic piece of machinery. So please look up everything that you can in order to know this gun from the inside out..
remington 115gr., round nose works best. also, take a new weapon apart, clean and deburr, lightly oil action and mags. may need breakin, about 200 rounds.
You got one that was "Built on a Ftiday".. I've had 2, first one, I never had one FTF or FTE, Had to sell it last year. So just yesterday 2/24/2020 I received a NEW one.. 😏 It makes that weak-ass "Ping" sound when hammer drops. Couldn't get it to fire 1 round. Called ATI, we'll see what they do FOR ME. (Being a gun shop owner I wanted to just explore it myself. But warranty says DO NOT.
William Farnsworth Thanks for the smartass comment, Bill. It was really helpful. I had purchased a replica MP-40 sling that was sold as an accurate replica, which it wasn't, not to mention GSG mounting the sling attachment on the barrel on the wrong side of the receiver.
I wouldn't say it's the wrong side, I've seen ww2 mp40s and I've seen the sling attachment on either side but the right side was more common, do what the soldiers did and put the sling on how it's most comfortable for you
@@iloveshootingshit probably fixed by now but all the Grease between the bolt and the rotating rear part is packed with it and sticks .took apart and wiped off a bunch and problem solved.
