There's no higher endorsment than the fact that the Cove faction is getting it's own expansion in the official HoMM3 board game. That basically makes HotA semi-official. Let's hope that Factory receives the same honor in the future.
Big respect to those developers who spent their time in making this expansion. I don't believe they had the original source code? If they made it through reverse engineering then that's huge amount of work that they did. They did it all for free.... and this is what makes me ultra mad. If those good programmers were able to get premisions from Ubisoft they could have made some money and even made a more improved mod. Since they will get paid they will have motivation do add even more features. It just makes me mad that this big company doesn't pay attention to programmers like them. It is hard to find so motivated programmers to do something like this nowdays. And yet, here they are... they work without payment.... great video! keep up the good work. while i appreciate great talent and amount of work that went into HoTA i just cant play heroes 3 other than with WoG whitch i strongly recommend alongside with community launcher regardless if you are HoTA or WoG fan. will check Hota again when the new faction finally is there.
@@NTJedi I don't think it's possible since Hota tries to balance the game to make it great for online multiplayer while WoG/ERA gives you a bunch of options that break the balancing of the game while also being a platform for many other mods such as Hero of Light which changes even the way the factions work. Long story short, combining WoG and Hota would result in something worse than both of them because they serve opposite principles. The only possible way to combine them without creating conflicts is by adding WoG creatures to Hota and the Hota-only factions to WoG.

Not better just different. WOG is a lot of fun and has huge customization but can be unbalanced. HOTA is more "true" to the original gameplay and offered improvements and fixes there but balance is king with that. - Tom
This mod is all about the competitive side. They fixed all the bugs and imbalances. Plus, they've made a fantastic online lobby. Hota is like a hardcore esports deal , while WOG is more of a sandbox with tons of options. Hota is top 1 mod among fans of competitive Heroes 3 for at least 5 years. Updates (mostly bug fixin and some slight inprovements) come every week.
I don't think the original developers ever intended for the HoMM series to be a "balanced" "competitive" MP experience. In fact, one of the rumors in HoMM2 said "The dark side is stronger". So all the balance changes they introduced thus far, seem to be to taka away from the Heroes experience. You want a fair fight in MP? You play the same faction. Simple as that.

Nice mod, but can someone tell me which one plagiarize the design of the creatures from Songs Of Conquest? I clearly see a Crawler and a Artificer in 8:37, even the animations are the same. Someone took a little bit more than just inspiration here.
factory faction was added some days ago. It was long due, much awaited addon. All the factions they add are from might and magic RPG, the original one.
I am huge H3 fan , but i have never accepted this mode and not because is bad, but because the new race somehow don't fit to the lore , and specially the second new race .

This is not an objective review. You compliment HOTA through and through and never mention anything negative about it. For me, to begin with, it looks like ass.
vast majority of the hota content looks so terribly fan fiction and unfitting to the spirit of the original game that i don't care if there's some improvements in it, i will still stick to the complete edition with HD mod. interference skill makes aboslutely no sense - why they just didn't rework the resistance skill insead to naturally resist a portion of the spell damage with the chance to resist the spell completely. and from every aspect the cove faction feels so forced it feels it emerged from the desire to add a new faction to the game, rather than the game needing it in any way, resulting in eh, yarr, pirates with forced unique abilities and a forced cannon, because yarr, pirates. and with the addition of all the new items and adventure map buildings the adventure map in hota looks like a floor full of legos. the visual design just doesn't fit to the spirit of the game and thus sticks out just like what it is - a fan fiction layered on top of the original masterpiece. i gotta say that apart from complete edition being otherwise truly amazing expansion to the original game, the conflux town suffers from this exact same syndrome than cove does and if i could remove them from my game i would do it without the hesitation. it's all subjective of course, people seem to like it so what there is to do. i'm happy the HD mod is separate to this and i can enjoy my heroes 3 with it alone. and anyways massive salute to Paul Anthony Romero for joining to the evolution of the heroes 3-game. he's truly a wonderful man.
It is everything but not forced, Cove is literally one of the most fun and well made factions in the game, they have added an extreme amount of content and fixed a lot of the stuff without removing the charm, it has EXTREMELY useful features that I would not be able to live without, for example Simultaneous Turns, which makes it so both you and your opponent can move at the same time, which quite literally makes multiplayer a heaven instead of waiting half of the game, HotA has not added a lot of stuff, but the stuff it added is extremely useful and good. Now you can create bigger maps than XL, now you can choose your hero and town way easier, don't have to scroll anymore, you can now play with random people and on about 40-100 different Templates. The best way I could describe this mod is just that it just makes the game better without changing it much, it's still pretty much the same game except way better, and is a massive improvement with no drawbacks, every seconds thousands of people play in the Lobby, sometimes it reaches 3000 and 2500, it never drops below 600, trust me it is worth a try, it's free and fantastic!

The Items aren't "mimiced", they are well made and are a very fun addition to the game, this feels like an Update and not a Mod, and you will understand what I mean after you played a month with it, this is an improved version of the game in every way shape or form, Horn of the Abbys goes for quality over quantity which is why it's so well made. About the Adventure map, that is easily like the smallest part of this game, because you can create infinite maps, but not infinite adventure maps. The HotA focuses on the important things, that being the game's map generation, improved multiplayer for it to be faster and better, the game looking more polished and beautiful, the Artifacts and the Heroes. HotA fits Heroes 3 more than Heroes 3 does to itself, look at Conflux, why is the Tier 2 unit as strong as the Tier 5 unit? Why does it have to have 4 Firebirds per week instead of the regular 2? Do you know what looks like a floor full of legos to me? Me being completely stuck on a map against a Lots of Archangels, me having to wait until my opponent moves, me having graphics that look terrible and hard to see, me not being able to play Inferno because haha funny very balanced, me having to build Mages in order to build Giants, yeah, that is the actual real issue, your original masterpiece is full of issues that make some games and factions unplayable, unlike in Horn of the Abbys, which is apparently a mess because it fixed all of the issues that the original game had and added a well built and thought out Faction as well and some more Artifacts and Heroes. If you don't like a faction, then just don't play it, it's that simple, I really don't understand how it's better to completely remove a faction from the game because it's unfitting, but if you look at the unit and the town is actually fitting, what isn't fitting are the units themselves, because it makes zero sense why Tier 2 is stronger/equal to Tier 5 strength. I'm gonna say it, Conflux is the most boring town in the game in my opinion. Get a bunch of Air Elementals, and that's it basically, if you shorten the play style of Conflux. Now, on some templates you can go for Firebirds or Magic Elementals, but 80% of the time you don't.
I love WOG mod it has the most customisation by far and results in insanely fun games. HOTA is more the purist continuation of the original, both are great. - Tom

Lol the game is still EXTREMELY unbalanced, it's just that now Inferno isn't 100% useless and Necropolis isn't an insta-win.

I only play HoMM 3 with WoG. All other mods do not interest me.
