That mention of Eirika's paralouge reminded me how tough it was to complete on maddening but I was so desperate to get lunar brace+ because I was that dedicated to my player phase Timerra build 😂
If you have the DLC, Hector and his Heavy Attack skill can be great on Timerra since her build starts off low and Brave Lance has high weight you can regularly get the +5 attack bonus.
@@eustacemcgoodboy9702 my favorite character to wield Hector is Jean. Reclass him to axe fighter and promote to berserker. When his dex caps, go warrior. He gets really high strength and HP, so he can actually make a decent drain tank with Runesword. The downside is that he also gets high build and speed, so heavy attack and quick reposte become kinda useless on him if you don't give him a heavy engraving like Ike or Roy.
@longers1028 I have only used Jean once, maddening classic. Had him as Great Knight with Tiki all game. Killer Axe/Tomahawk. Ended up putting Axe Power with Quick Riposte on him and he was an unkillable tank all game long until the end credits. Fantastic unit and build.
My endgame build for her is running Brionac with the Alear engraving, Spd/Dex+5 and Str/Dex (currently) +3 and she is on Ike. It's expensive af but in endgame she doesn't have all that much build issues (at least for me) and when she's not sandstorming, she is critting due to the fairly high crit chance from the engraving (which also reduces the weapon weight from Brionac)
Leif on her doesnt seem to be mentionned, or some people say it doesnt work well. I have done some tests, it seems really good cause she will be able to use brionac at high lvl with the +BLD. The problem is the adaptation problem, here is a suggestion to beat it. You don't want the light brand to be used, the only case which would sucks is if an archer or mage attack her, then you don't want her to riposte with light brand. The only thing you have to do is get a weapon which total stats beat the light brand. Light brand is 110 total (15mt+20 crit+ 75hit), you can beat it with a brionac and a sigurd engraving for example, it will be a super weap for her (but there are other possibilities, depending on your desired build). I have done some testing it works like that : for exemple, with a dagger +1, light brand will be prioritised, but with a +2 or +3 (dont have the nomber in mind), the dagger will be taken.
Leif is her best emblem. He gives HP and def so his stat boosts are great for tanks. He also gives bld which she appreciates. Arms Shield++ gives dmg-7 with WTA, and when she engages with Leif she gets access to a sword, an axe, and Adaptable, which means she can always find herself on the right side of the weapon triangle. Plus Arms Shield and Gentility or Resolve can combine for a whole lot of dmg mitigation. Leif also has the benefit over Ike of not dumping her avo stat while engaged. It's wild that Leif got a mention under engravings but nothing under emblems.
@@shannonjones8877 The thing with Leif is that the only thing he has over other emblem suggestions is the build he grants. If you want Timerra get HP and defense, give her Ike. If you want give build and defense, give her Sigurd. Leif's emblem weapons are generally piss poor and I've heard too many horror stories regarding his adaptable skill being detrimental to units during enemy phase. Really though, Timerra doesn't want Leif, she wants build+.
@@candybunny2462 Adaptable facilitates Arms Shield. Arms Shield makes your tank tankier. IDK what kind of horror stories people are telling about their tanks doing their job even better. Also, Sigurd's kit has no synergy for tanking. Momentum and Gallop do nothing to help tank. That's a waste of a pairing. Ike does work for a tank, but he's optimized more towards a bruiser than a tank. He's also better on a unit with innate access to axes because using Silver Greataxe to pop Great Aether is nuts. Ike is better on someone like Boucheron than he is on Timerra. Plus half of big dmg is more than half of tiny dmg so Ike is better on someone who's not super tanky to start with.
I definitely find Sigurd more contested than Ike, really surprised whenever people say Sigurd isn't highly contested, literally who doesn't want movement? Like I've done shit like Sigurd on Yunaka as a thief with Wrath, that momentum + crit = death, and with the covert bonus having 11 move and not being hampered by terrain makes it so easy to be a completely safe PP nuke or move to areas to EP hoards, I really just don't see anyone that wouldn't like to have Sigurd.
Well when I play engage I used 5imerra kn ike or sigurd with brave lance she is on sign because free lance power and canter well most of sigs skills are good I use her on sigurd more then ike but yea
Lance Power doesn't seem like it should be a primary suggestion for a tank build. For one, dmg output doesn't need to be a primary concern for a tank, and second, putting avo-10 on a tank feels kinda like sabotage. Top recommendations should be more like Gentility or Resolve. Resolve has the benefit of allowing some manipulation of her def stat for the sake of baiting enemies who might otherwise not try to attack her, but also that it calculates into her Sandstorms when active. I also don't think she requires spd fixing: she's fast enough that enemies that could actually hit her hard probably won't double her, and bulky enough that enemies that could double her probably won't do significant enough dmg to her to actually care. And this is further supported by the fact that taking effective dmg is never a concern with her. Also, Leif deserved a mention under the emblem segment for her. He gives HP, def, bld, and Arms Shield++, plus while engaged he gives Adaptable alongside full access to the weapon triangle.
The top recommendations are based on what is effective. Lance power Javelin is a very solid 1-2 range weapon that kills things. Timerra's SPD/DEF and being on Ike is more than enough tanking
@@IcedCoffeeGaming i guess we just don't see eye to eye on the role of a tank. I would never prioritize dmg output over dmg mitigation on a tank build.
So... Sentinel and Timerra. We'll go with Timerra first. Is she actually fast? We'll look at characters around Solm, and rank the sum of their Speed and Bld, subtracting their base class from the total. Pandreo: 11,4 Rosado: 12,2 Merrin: 11,3 Fogado: 11,2 Goldmary: 11,2 Timerra: 11,1 Panette: 7,2 Bunet: 4,3 In terms speed and build growths, Timerra outpaces Goldmary, Panette and Bunet. The others will remain faster. So of the 8 units that join in Solm, Timerra is the 6th fastest when joining, the 5th fastest by endgame. She's not fast. Is she tanky? Lets look at HP, Def, Res. Same characters. Order is a bit subjective, but I'm going off general durability. I'm penalizing Panette and Bunet as they're substantially more vulnerable to being doubled. Goldmary: 17,15,10 Rosado: 19,9,6 Merrin: 13, 8,8 Pandreo: 14, 5, 12 Timerra: 11,8,7 Panette: 17,8,5 Fogado: 12,6,8 Bunet: 15,7,6 For durability, I think it's fair to call her middle of the pack here. Her 30% Def growth is average. Her 30% Res growth is a bit above average. And her 55% HP growth is a little below average. Defensively, she's average. But how does Picket, her signature class affect things? It's slow. 9 base speed, and a pitiful 5 base build. Since we'll be dealing with weapon slowdown almost constantly, we'll compare Speed+Build to other classes. Slower classes my this measure include: Bow Knight (13), Halberdier (13), Avenir (13), Great Knight (13), Sage (12), General (12), Sniper (11) Also worth noting is Berserker (15) because it's axe locked, and axes are typically 2-3 heavier than an equivalent lance. Bow Knight and Avenir actually have speed advantage due to lighter weapons. Halberdier has access to Pincer attack to compensate. Sages can speed match depending on weapon choice. Sniper is a touch slower since bows are about 2-3 lighter than lances. Berserker is slower due to being axe locked. Great Knight and General can't take advantage of their full build, so they may keep up with super heavy weapons, but won't be doubling. They're effectively slower. All other classes are as fast or faster. Defensively, Picket fares well. 10 base defense is the highest of any unarmored class. Base 25 HP is solid. Base 3 Res is low, but pretty standard for physical classes. Growth rates are a similar story for defense and speed. This class is what gives Timerra a reputation as a defensive unit. Timerra isn't actually fast or tanky. She's a medium/slow unit. Defensively, straight medium. Her strength is straight up bad. It's +6. Rosado is at +7. So basically, Rosado with bad strength growth (25 vs. 45) Picket is basically an attempt to create a defensive unit that isn't impossible to double with. Brave Sandstorm is fun, but takes a lot to pull off. Other than that, being lance locked with that awful build really hurts it.
The only thing that matters is the inputs/outputs, the rest is white noise. If I can run a unit and they pop off on multiple builds on fixed mode maddening consistently without fail, that is a good unit.
Being weapon locked in a game where you are mostly relying on "weapon power" skills to deal significant damage isn't that bad, what you gonna do with the other weapon type? Break? Why do that when you can just kill and use one less unit.
@@maxpower004 It's the combination of lance lock and really low build. At base Picket, the only weapon Timerra can wield without slowdown is the iron lance. -3 from Javelin -4 from Steel (or -3 if at Steel +3) -8 from Brave, -7 from Silver, -9 from Spear. She also won't have access to lance power for several chapters, or a high level of lance power until after Sigurd's paralogue.
