Wow! Thanks Mark! I've been using Lightroom for more years than I'd like to admit and have spent countless hours on spot removal! So much so, that I make sure EVERYTHING is clean prior to shooting! Thanks again!
dayum, I've never knew this existed! I was literally sitting here removing spots from my headshot shoot from this morning and this popped up on my subscriptions. Thanks!
This can save quite some time if images are very similar but is also a very dangerous technique as copied spots does no resample for the new photo but takes the same sample location from the first photo which can be totally inappropriate.
Problem: If you do not manually adjust the spot removal in any way, then a new automated selection of the clone area will be individualized for each photo. But if you manually adjust a spot removal, that exact adjustment will be replicated for the other photos, for that particular spot. Either way, you still have to carefully double-check all the images to make sure all the spot removals are appropriate. It's really easy to not see one, which you then only notice when looking at your print. :-/ The upshot is, this feature is not nearly so useful as it may appear, first blush.
After giving this a shot, I would offer one warning. It certainly works, but do not trust it on "auto-pilot". It will remove/replace all those spots, but the subject moves around the frame during a shoot, either from the subject moving or you moving the camera. So, if the subject "steps in front of a spot", that spot will be removed just as it should, but Lightroom might replace an eyeball with an elbow, or lips with a shirt, or an ear gets replaced with a nose, etc... So, it works fantastic and saves a lot of time, but double check the spot replacement of each photo before moving on.
Mark, this is great. I most often have these spots show up in real estate shoots, so this should save a lot of effort! I look forward to trying it with the current version of Lightroom Classic (v12).
Hi, is it also possible when import pictures to remove the dust spot? It's always on the same spot. It would be nice to import from the SD card, and directly move this spots.
This method is bunk.. I did the exact same thing in LR CC . i exported all the Raw files syncing just like it explains.. the spot is not there in LR but the spots are all there in ACR, all the Raw viewers & Bridge. That's while saving to XMP.. This auto removing doesn't work... It only works in LR but now where outside when your viewing Raw files & saved to XMP..
Santiago looks a mess. It looks as though it wouldn't be safe at night. Beautiful old architecture and graffiti everywhere. I'm sure you walked through that area intentionally. What are you trying to tell us?
Robbie Keene No hidden messages. This is just the street by my hotel. Chile is in the midst of some changes and there are scars of the protests visible throughout the city. But the people and country are wonderful. If I am saying anything it would be to visit this amazing place. There is much more good than a bit of graffiti. 😊 🇨🇱
Thank you, I officially owe you a day of my life
Thank you Mark, this is going to up my production rate immensely.

Wow! Don't know how I missed this one - thanks, Mark!
That is assuming that the replacement areas are still relevant.
Beautiful model
Thanks Mark. I've used Sync Settings before but never for spot removal. Don't know why but I will from now on. :)
A great tip and well explained .. many thanks
Thanks a ton for that video, you just saved my seriously 100ds of hours, THANKS A TON AGAIN. God bless..
Thanks Mark this will prove useful.
Cheers mate for the time saving tips!

Yes, you always have to check the final result and make adjustments if needed.
Awesome video! Thank you so much for showing us this trick. Saved so much time in post processing.

Thank you, amigo. 10K images to go.
What if I already made some transform adjustments and crops?
I'll try it tonight, maybe lightroom factors that in.
Is there a button/technique bthat removes all the spots at once?
Looks like Santiago could do with a graffiti removal tool too 😋
any chance we can spots using PS? example 4:20

This is literally the opposite of automatic.
