I'm new to the world of car audio and subwoofers, but I think it would be an interesting demo to send a pink noise signal to the sub while sweeping a low pass filter from 20HZ to around 80HZ or so to hear how a speaker responds to multiple frequencies at the same time, at the same level. Very rarely does an actual song just hit a 40HZ tone without any other frequencies.

I have that exact setup in my daily driver. 1 DB SA26 12 in a 1.9cu box with a 6 inch port. It gets shit flexing in my car which I wasn’t expecting! I’ve had it since November and have been running it hard daily, it’s a great reliable subwoofer. Oh yeah and it blew my box out lol. Had to strip and rebuild the box cuz the back half of it blew out lol

I have a skar evl-15 its a beast, it hits lows very well and has crazy excursion once broken in. I just put 6.5 skar components in my doors and they sound great.

You are without a doubt, my favorite car audio, you tube mad scientist personality BY FAR! Your videos are down to earth, yet contain all the expert advice a sound freak could use in real world applications. Plus, your attitude towards everything is spot on. As for the subs by default bounce, the smaller one of the two would be a fine addition to my system, due to my 16 year old Polk audio 12's having walked they're last mile this month! Anyway, as always, great video EXO!
I'm sure these are great subs but, at least based on what I'm seeing, it seems like you get a lot more bang for fewer bucks with NVX VCW's. Their power rating is lower at only 1000 Watts rms, but you get a 3" voice coil, 20 mm of xmax and triple stack magnet slugs along with a nice aluminum frame. I would still like to hear them side-by-side to see which one actually performs better though.
And the best bang for your buck CT sounds Tropo 18" $129 free shipping. 3" voice coil well built sub they claim 600rms I've been rocking two on a Skar RP2000.1D @.5 ohm with no issues at all the subs take it with ease.

You said you wanted good comments and then asked a question. So hopefully, this covers both... Of course a subwoofer is too expensive when you simply cant afford it, but, that's too obvious an answer. In my opinion any money spent on a sub that equals more than a 1 week paycheck should be based on your knowledge of what your getting. Stay with me here. I see nothing wrong with literally anyone bangin out a system for their car that costs them a week's pay. However, you should have to earn the right to buy anything more than that. I've been messing with stereos in cars as long as you've been alive but I'm nowhere near your level. You can buy subs that cost 5 grand all day and not get any judgement from me. whereas I couldn't see myself spending more than like $500 on a single sub. Bottom line... I simply get annoyed by fools who will spend upwards of 4 or 5 thousand dollars on their whole system and not know the difference between ohms, watts, and amps.

I also have a masters degree in audio engineering Graduated from the institute of audio research then finished off at Laguardia. In no way was anything I said aimed at anyone specific. Just an observation I've made in life in general. I've even been to shows and competitions where there would be someone who had a great "looking", high end, setup that turned out to be dog shit because of their lack of drive to educate themselves. I just remember how they could tell me about every dime they spent but couldn't really tell me anything about the system itself. Already have an RP600.5 and an IX 8” sub that I’ll be using for the build, just have to get two sets of components, wires, head unit, time to install everything. Thinking about adding a second battery off the jump Incase I get different amps and go with bigger power in the future not sure yet. But anything will satisfy the need to bump and have some good tunes again lol! Thanks again

I always watch your videos but, I never comment. I've always been a car audio enthusiast. Since I was 15 I wouldn't mess with everything electronic in my families vehicles. By 17 I was hooking up the whole system... I never had any formal but, it was definitely a passion I had. My first big purchase was a cerwin vega stroker and since my life hasn't been the same. Watching your videos always gives me an itch to do something on a broader scale. I ran two 12 vcw's on a sundown 3k in the nvx box made for them and they hit hard and got low too
I'm thinking the same. Skar's EVL line is also $200 a woofer, and they have 1250rms rating with a nicer basket, higher xmax, a 39hz FS, etc.

You said you wanted good comments and then asked a question. So hopefully, this covers both... Of course a subwoofer is too expensive when you simply cant afford it, but, that's too obvious an answer. In my opinion any money spent on a sub that equals more than a 1 week paycheck should be based on your knowledge of what your getting. Stay with me here. I see nothing wrong with literally anyone bangin out a system for their car that costs them a week's pay. However, you should have to earn the right to buy anything more than that. I've been messing with stereos in cars as long as you've been alive but I'm nowhere near your level. You can buy subs that cost 5 grand all day and not get any judgement from me. whereas I couldn't see myself spending more than like $500 on a single sub. Bottom line... I simply get annoyed by fools who will spend upwards of 4 or 5 thousand dollars on their whole system and not know the difference between ohms, watts, and amps.

In no way was anything I said aimed at anyone specific. Just an observation I've made in life in general. I've even been to shows and competitions where there would be someone who had a great "looking", high end, setup that turned out to be dog shit because of their lack of drive to educate themselves. I just remember how they could tell me about every dime they spent but couldn't really tell me anything about the system itself. And I arrogantly thought to myself "gimme that kind of budget and just watch what happens." lol

EXOcontralto No problem brother. I can’t wait to be able to have some sounds in my car again. It’s going to be a very very very cheap skar audio system but I’d just like to have something. Already have an RP600.5 and an IX 8” sub that I’ll be using for the build, just have to get two sets of components, wires, head unit, time to install everything. Thinking about adding a second battery off the jump Incase I get different amps and go with bigger power in the future not sure yet. But anything will satisfy the need to bump and have some good tunes again lol! Thanks again

I always watch your videos but, I never comment. I've always been a car audio enthusiast. Since I was 15 I wouldn't mess with everything electronic in my families vehicles. By 17 I was hooking up the whole system... I never had any formal but, it was definitely a passion I had. My first big purchase was a cerwin vega stroker and since my life hasn't been the same. Watching your videos always gives me an itch to do something on a broader scale. I would love to win any of the subwoofers you are giving away but, it's also your videos that inspired me to do something bigger. Win or lose I'll continue watching your videos!
