Oh how wonderful you were able to score a new unit. You had me going there for a few minutes. I am amazed you guys were able to go that long anyway. You guys are real. Keep up the good work and we will be here to enjoy with you.
Hi guys🙌🏽you tube has not been sending me updates . I was so sad when I thought you were giving up altogether but was so happy to see Tonto had a huge upgrade. Hope to see more awesome vids guys 🤙🏽🙌🏽
We’ve had several people say they aren’t getting our notifications from RUclips. Not sure why! Maybe contact them and see what’s going on. Yep Tonto got his upgrade and so did we! Lots more adventures and explores to come. Every Tuesday morning.
So happy for your new home. Thank you for bringing us along. It was great fun. I enjoy your videos very much, the behind the scenes especially so as they are personal. I also like watching camp life (camped 25 years with 3 kids) since I can't camp right now. I can hardly wait to see you in new episodes. "Let's go take a look"!
Thank you Barbara! We will be integrating more camping and life on the road with this new topper. It’s a life that has its challenges, but there are far more positives and we love sharing our experiences and connecting with like minded souls like yourself. We have plenty more journeys to come and we hope to see you there or out on the road some time.
You 2 have the patience of Job! But, that was a naughty teaser title! So glad you've got better quarters AND no water ingress! Eager to see you and Tonto out on the road again planting many more pins!
I am so happy you got a camper i was so worried about you guys all the time just in the back of the truck I can not wait for a tour Im happy for you two
Thanks Lesley. It certainly does have more space. Need to figure out what we are going to do with the inside to make it more homely and to fit our needs with life on the road.
Yay! Finally an upgraded home. I've been wondering when you would get to that point. Love the pop up campers for trucks. If I owned a truck I would definitely go that route. Congrats on your new home! 🎉 Can't wait for the tour. ❤
@@PinInTheAtlas Ugh! Please don't remind me how close Christmas is. 🙄 Anyway! A tour of your new rig will be an awesome Christmas gift for all of us. Safe travels.
Fuck, I thought from reading blogs that the ARE was of better quality than Leer. Was in the process of buying a used one until seeing your videos. So you think the roof leak was from the fake window? Stupid design.
Cool, when installed take a hose over the whole outside spray every inch with high pressure. Then check for leaks before putting all your stuff inside. Have owned 5 truck campers, 3 truck shell campers one pop up 2 5th wheels and one trailer. So I know you're pain on the shell. It will be nice to have more room.
Thanks Ben, actually we did just that. That is what those clips were at the end with the water pouring in the sides. Will go more in depth on that later on.
I didn't know they made those without the floor! Pretty cool but I can see the down side from the last clip... I'm sure you will get it sorted out and you guys will love all the head space. Best thing about those is the aluminum structure and the pop-up roof. Great choice! We would love to upgrade to one of those someday as the one we have is like pushing a sail down the highway, not great on the drag coefficiency.... more importantly our gas mileage! Can't wait for a video tour!!!
Once we came across this model we were sold. We have been researching and gathering info on this for a long time now. Will give more details in the future but we are over the moon with this topper, it is under 400lbs, we can still go places where most don’t dare, in fact we just did today! The space is phenomenal we are still getting used to that fact. The only downside this far is the fuel economy. Ours has gone down quite a bit, have to find that sweet spot again. When you are able to upgrade we would definitely recommend a pop up and four wheel campers. They honestly treated us right. Not to sound all commercialised or anything 😝
Probably telling you something you already know but there's some good info on the Wander the West forum. They've been working out the gremlins on the project M over there.
Your fuel economy can't possibly be as bad as ours! We would definitely like to upgrade, the truck and camper! Truck is 20 years old and the camper is a 1974. I spent two weeks strait tearing the siding and roof off to repair wood rot and re seal it just to find a water leak again today 😔 I did everything right too so this leak is really mysterious 🤔 but that's where your warranty will come in handy if somthing like that ever happens! Glad you're enjoying it, can't believe it took this long to get one! 😄
@@DecayWithUs Oh my! Is that going to be a future episode on your channel? Can say with sincerity, know exactly how you feel. Yes we are so chuffed with the new top we are still pinching ourselves!
Tonto Mk 1 would be great for a weekend camping trip, or even a week, but to live in it permanently would not be much fun. My heart goes out to you trying to cook in gale force winds, and continuously mopping up in horizontal rain conditions. Hope the new rig works out well - I fear it probably cost you an arm and most of your legs! Best wishes.
More space 4 living. We live the history and sites you show keeping great standards to protect historical sites. We know it has been a trial 4 you and glad to see your upgrade. I'm from the Midwest but love the desert sites you show. Quite dramatic how you presented this.
I don’t know how you lived in that truck camper as long as you did, you both are some tough cookies. I sure hope that ending wasn’t a sign the new camper is leaking. Leave us hanging like that 😂😂.
So chuffed for you two! The trials and tribulations of your old top, you're going to think you've checked into a 5-star hotel with the upgrade. So exciting and what a difference for the day-to-day. Hooray!
We already do Joey. So excited for the future and the places we will continue to explore as we can relax and be more comfortable after the extensive filming, hiking, and crazy roads!
Glad to see happier days and nights are a head love all the exploring and adventures. You put tears in my eyes as you look to up grade your life style now you will be standing tall each and every day and night and hope the one you get has the floor and a good heater .p.s. and the next time you take a measurement you might find that 5.3 1/2 that now you might be even taller as you can now stand up as you cook .Happier days are coming your way .❤️🏆 Thank you pin in the atlas keep those BIG smiles coming your the GREATEST.

I tuned in today and thought I was watching a breakup. So somber; a requiem; quitting the road; what the hey. Do they need a go fund or what. THANKFULLY, explaining. UPGRADE! AND.....THANKFULLY....the upgrade is tall enough for five foot three and ONE HALF, because that half is important!!! Life on the road can be very rough or very smooth. I travel alone with an R Pod, and an Overland Silverado. So when I argue, chose destinations, my safe zone is music for most part. Collaborating to travel with others to new places. Making new friends. I.e., Sarah Jane (WH), VISITING OLD FRIENDS, those from Army days. Been all the way to Niagra Falls, Calif, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Washington State, of course home base in Oregon, and many places in between. Places not seen because of life. More places to go before I go OUT! See you both on the trails and roads. Thanks for sharing your life, TA TA!
Thanks Gerry. Life on the road certainly has its challenges. We learn and grow everyday. Hopefully we can inspire more people to get out there go and explore and put another pin in the atlas. We will see you on our next adventure and maybe on the road.
As the saying goes..."Out with the old, in with the new!" I hope that you did get that pop up camper. If so, you'll have adjustments to make, but your living conditions will improve!
We did Kerry, it’s strange getting used to all the space, but we will have some more insight on it closer to Christmas. Still working on the follow up episode.
Have you thought of going with a tiny house on wheels. A small school bus or delivery van? OMG, please, let's explore our options, please don't give up Steve and Andrea. I'm having to move from my old apartment after living here for over 13 years. I'm pulling for you!
Hello, good morning and greetings from Newcastle upon Tyne, England, UK. I am addicted to watching your video's and truly hope you do many more for years to come. Peace ✌ Love 💞
Well, I have to say that the first 7 minutes scared me. I thought they can't give up. But then I was so happy 😊that you will still be discovering new adventures. Don't give me a heart attack like that. I am happy 😉for you on the upgrade of your living quarters. That is so much nicer then living in a camper shell. Hurray for Tonto 🤩. Can't wait to see what all the bells and whistles on the new living space. Thank you for sharing and God Bless. Oh, and be safe wherever you go. 👍
This must have been b4 you bought Tonto? No, you, got an upgrade! I used to name all my cars "Nellie " and when I stepped on the brake, I'd say "whoa Nellie!"
You guys have seen many things with your old camper hood and it is time to upgrade after all your problems . I hope the new upgrade will work out for the better for and you have many more good adventures with your new camper. Congrats !
2:17 congrats to you both for your new abode. Can’t wait for you to share a video with all on your truck camper. I know you have to be ecstatic just knowing you won’t have to deal with the water leaks. Love following you…again thanks for sharing your video with us. Happiest of Holidays to you both. ☮️❤️
My brain is rather fuzzy (got Covid) and I thought, "Noooo, please don't stop exploring.." then I remembered what you told me Andrea in your last email. It did take a few minutes to connect the dots, but my brain got there in the end lol. So, so happy for you both with the upgrade, you certainly worked very hard for it. I sent you another email with the tracking numbers on for your goodie boxes!! They are in America, but not sure where 😂 Nearly 2am here, so really ought to stop coughing and get some sleep. Take care my lovelies. Blessings 💜
Got them Sue. Thank you so much. Our friend collected them yesterday but we haven’t had service for a couple of days. Excited to see what’s inside. Hope you get better soon and sleep well. Lots of hot lemon and honey.
Thank you so much Tina, this has been a goal of ours for a very long time and it feels so good to achieve it. Now we have space to live more comfortably out in the middle of nowhere.
I don't like the canvas pop up slide in campers I just bought 2 old slide in truck campers. I believe your better protected and more safety with a solid camper than canvas just my opinion good luck ✝️🇺🇸
Yes the solid ones do give better protection. We chose the project m because it’s light weight and designed to go off road. Plus we are on a tight budget. We’ll see how it goes Jim and keep people updated on the pros and cons.
Sorry if you just answered this I just watched the ending I've been on the road is it guaranteed not to leak I hope so congratulations I know punctuation sucks I didn't put it in
Geez lueez, the beginning of this video is soooooooooo sad! The video left thinking you did not purchase a new camper. I would suggest checking out JEEPer youtube channels for ideas on how to rig up your rig (I think there is a pun in there). A couple I am thinking right now is Trailrecon and Dr. Hanna Straight who is a young woman traveling in an F250 with a pop-up camper. You might see yourself punching into youtube "overlanding jeep." Air bags are kinda, eh... The best thing I see about them is that you can adjust the truck height to compensate for the load. I would measure the center of the wheel opening then load whatever you plan on carrying including filled water resevoirs, tools, camping stuff, food, and whatever else then maybe throw in about 4-6 90# bags of sand and re-measure the height. Then have a reputabale spring shop either re-arch your springs to the orginal height plus an extra 1-1/2 inches. to handle the load on rough roads and trails. The spring shop can re-arch your existing springs and add a leaf or two to carry the extra weight. The shop can advise you on your particular truck. Typically springs can be made or upgraded with thick leaves, but might make the ride rougher on the road and more rough on trails. Or the springs can be made or upgraded with thinner leaves to make a nice ride, but will make the spring pack thicker. The spring shop will advise you on that too. And, there is a medium between the two. I would advise installing a good a lift kit front and rear about 2-3 inches to handle the load and handle the trails better and safer. With the lift installed you can then re-arch or build a rear spring pack as I mentioned above. Just remember to go about 1-1/2 inches higher in the rear (the 1/2 inch may be important Andrea). I definetly advise a modest lift 2-3 inches, you will happy with it. I much favor the idea of a pop up camper, you will be way more comfortable.
We do have a mechanic that we thoroughly trust in Fallon,NV. We spoke at length about options and decided that air bags were our best option. We had a 2 inch lift done as well. As always Tedford Tire did an immaculate job and we couldn’t be happier with the end result and our new home.
@@PinInTheAtlas There are so many options, but if you consult someone who knows what they're talking about and you trust them to make good on their work you will be safer on and off the road. I have a JEEP I have been repairing others' horrible and dangerous work for the last year I sometimes think they ought hung at the Tombstome gallows. The list of hoorors is very long. I hope one day we will meet and do a bit of exploring together. Up until I purchased the JEEP I would do my exploring on a Harley!! People trip out on the places I get into and the weather I ride in, but I was trained as a military vehicle mechanic so I know how stuff works and know how to get out of a jam. I want to visit the stage coach stop near Cochise Arizona and Why, Arizona this December. And Why?? Because I can!! Be safe...
Been on the receiving end of some of those horrors with our other vehicles, with our Tonto only the best will do and we found a very reputable and trustworthy outfit. As an ex motocrosser and motorcycle lover I would have been ear to ear grinning when you pulled up. It's all about knowing how to use the equipment you've got to its full potential.
I had a Leer cap on my Ford Ranger for many years, it never leaked, even in heavy thunderstorms, No Xtra sealing on my part, guess I’ll never purchase a A.R.E. Cap, just saying.
@@PinInTheAtlas I have the Alu-cab canopy camper with a Dickenson heater and I'm loving both. I hope to spend a month or two in Nevada on the way to visit my daughter in LA.
I have followed you guys since the beginning you’ve been an inspiration to my version of nomad living since then. You’re editing has grown exponentially.. I admire it. Now you got a bigger house, will you start talking to each other again ?!? 😜🤣😘
That depends 😂! On a side note we are so truly appreciative for you helping to keep our dream alive on the road.
@@PinInTheAtlas
Oh, _that_ is hilarious!!! 😂😆🤣
Thank you for keeping the dream!
Love you guys, 😘
Oh My Gosh you both are KILLING me. I can not wait for the next Vid. I hope to see you both in Quartzite in January. Love and tons of hugs. Betty Bear
Oh how we have missed you Betty!!! Please email us so we can exchange info for January to hopefully meet up!
This must have been b4 you bought Tonto? No, you, got an upgrade! I used to name all my cars "Nellie " and when I stepped on the brake, I'd say "whoa Nellie!"
Tonto got the upgrade. A lift airbags and the new topper.
We name all our cars too
That is a world of comfort/convenience unlike before...Great videos...happy trails.
Thanks. Glad you are enjoying our pins. Lots more to come.
I was wondering just how you were going to survive another Winter in Tonto ,Congrats on your new luxury appartment...Best wishes John Keane.
It’s like a mansion lol. Still working out the quirks
So we’re we John! At least we don’t have to get out of the truck to make a cuppa tea now!
Got a feeling you will be a lot happier
Definitely Phillip. Already happier with the space.
Thanks!
Awesome upgrade. Will make life more enjoyable for sure. Good luck. Cheers from Blissfield New Brunswick Canada 👍
Thanks. And our journey continues in more comfort! 😀
You guys have seen many things with your old camper hood and it is time to upgrade after all your problems . I hope the new upgrade will work out for the better for and you have many more good adventures with your new camper. Congrats !
We certainly have Paul. Lots more places to visit and explore. Thanks for your support and see you on our next adventure.
How did Tonto react when you relieved him from his hump?
He’s got an even bigger hump now!
Well done you made it look like you were done but it was a upgrade 🤪
Kept you guessing. Still lots to explore out there tgl.
Thank you so much Cherie we are over the moon and still working on the topper tour vid!
Good luck with your new setup, it looks nicely built, let`s hope it is.
We’ll keep you posted David.
We’ll keep you posted David. Thank you.
Congrats; more comfy and now more pins; stay safe🤩😎😎⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lots more Pins Charles. Stay tuned.
@@PinInTheAtlas 👍👍👍👌
Oh you had me going for a minute. The best part of all you didn't have to go back to CA and live. Will be waiting for the next installment.
Yes exactly Connie! We are still working on the next instalment of our new topper vids, we will cover more on that close to Christmas.
The slide in models would have been my choice there all sealed up no leaks. There's always issues when trying to seal a topper to a pickup box
Yep you’re right. However We had a budget plus the slides are much heavier. These are designed more for off roading. Apparently.
Good for you guys
Did you spit your coffee out?
@@PinInTheAtlas nope
Happy boondocking! 😊
Thanks Jenny. See you in April.
Congratulations on moving on up. As the Jefferson s would say
Thank you so much Tina, this has been a goal of ours for a very long time and it feels so good to achieve it. Now we have space to live more comfortably out in the middle of nowhere.
@@PinInTheAtlas your welcome. That means Andrea can cook to her heart’s content
will be hard to travel to the places that you like to explore .
You should see where we just took Tonto today!!🤣 actually the project m is designed for off road. Much lighter than the slide ins
Long needed upgrade.
It certainly was.
Sorry if you just answered this I just watched the ending I've been on the road is it guaranteed not to leak I hope so congratulations I know punctuation sucks I didn't put it in
The leaking at the end was the project m. But….. we’ll give everyone an update later.
Good luck you'all:)
Read what Ben Poppy has to say, I' m sure you already have but just in case:)
Cheers,
Rik
Yep. We have Rik. Thanks.
Wait! Was that your new camper leaking? Lordy I hope not. Can hardly wait for sequel.
Yes Lorna it was the new camper leaking. Well not the topper but it wasn’t installed right. Everything will be explained in a video coming soon.
Interesting video.
Thanks Wayne.
See Hannah Straight. She has everything. A camper will weigh a lot more and compromise your 4WD capability.
That’s why we chose the Project M. More space but weighs around 400lbs so doesn’t compromise the 4wd. Plus we had airbags and a 2inch lift.
@@PinInTheAtlas So you mean now you are 5 foot 4 1/2" Ok.
We had nothing but trouble with ours! It even leaked through the windows!!
@@PinInTheAtlas That’s not good, but, it’s gone from you guys!! Happy Trails!!
SWEEEEET!
Thanks Cody
Tonto lost his protective shell,, oh no🤪🥹
He looked so weird without his shell, funny how used to it we were!
@@PinInTheAtlas yes with time things will get better
That dosen't speak well for A.R.E.?
Hello stranger. Yep we were glad to upgrade that’s for sure.
@@PinInTheAtlas I have the Alu-cab canopy camper with a Dickenson heater and I'm loving both. I hope to spend a month or two in Nevada on the way to visit my daughter in LA.
@@asherdog9248 What does your Dickenson heater run off?
@@PinInTheAtlas a 10lb propane tank. It has a dual exhaust/intake pipe that keeps condensation from building up inside the bed of the truck.
I have followed you guys since the beginning you’ve been an inspiration to my version of nomad living since then. You’re editing has grown exponentially.. I admire it. I’ll be out west from January on.. would love to just meet you and hang for a meal or something..I’m zumalou7 on RUclips and all social media. Let’s get together! I’d be honored!
Thank you very much. It has all been such a learning curve in every way. We still have so much to learn too. Improving the quality of our videos and living in the back of the truck. With the new topper we have more space but still trying to figure out how we can “remodel “ it.
