They have explained this...and yet...they haven't explained it. I mean, first we were told that £66 would be refunded back into our accounts if we pay by direct debit from October onwards until the £400 is covered, yet now they seem to be saying the £66 will be discounted from our normal payment each month, so which is it? All I know is I have had nothing so far and going by what my account with my provider says, they will be taking the usual amount, and if I'm not mistaken, this is October, right? In fact, it's the back end of October now, so where is this £66 then? 🤔
I got told by our landlord that we don’t qualify for this because we use electric card system and we don’t pay enough. And then our electricity bills got raised so much that it’s so that we pay 41p per unit.
Still waiting for the November payment. Phoned edf a fortnight ago and was told that the voucher was posted on the 8th of November blaming the postal strikes for the delay. Phoned again on Saturday the 3rd of December and was told that the voucher was posted on the 24 of November? They assured us that we would have the voucher by Monday at the latest. Phoned again on Tuesday and was told that it was DEFINITELY posted on the 24th but we had to allow 4 weeks for it to arrive again blaming the postal strikes. On Saturday the 3rd I renewed my driving licence at the post office, it arrived yesterday, obviously no post on Sunday so 3 days to get from the dvla in Swansea to norwich and we seem to be receiving all other post so the only conclusion is that edf are getting interest on my money, I would change provider but from what I've heard they're all doing it.
Can I ask if the (7) Residents of a sheltered housing 'home' have a claim, theyre all oaps, they pay a monthly rent which includes a contribution of the energy costs.....Someone has to get benefits of the Energy SS?
Thanks, I am glad you found it helpful. Hahaha, I will try to keep hand waving to a minimum. I am the son of two deaf parents, so it's a habit I am very used to and will be a hard habit to kick in front of the camera. :D
So what you're saying is £800 will be credited to my account within the next 5 months because I'm on universal credit and I claim pip (personal independence payment) " is that right ?
Hey Jack, Yep that's correct. Universal Credit means you will receive a £650 one-off Cost of Living Payment And PIP means you will receive a £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment Totalling to £800. Your energy account will be provided with a one off credit of £400, which is provided to all households. So in total you will be receiving £1,200 from this support scheme.
Can someone please explain this anomaly (if I'm understanding things correctly). Ok, my direct debits for electricity are being reduced each month, over six months, due to the current government energy help scheme of £400. However, how am I benefitting? I could've voluntarily reduced my direct debits in any situation but still be using the same amount of energy which has to be paid for. My electricity account is not being credited with the difference between my old direct debit and the reduced direct debit, so in effect I'm not getting any money at all, if you get my drift? In reality who's getting the £400 promised to me by the government? I'm not getting it, as all that has happened is that my direct debit is being reduced for six months and I'm still having to pay for all the energy I use. Thanks.
Hello 👋, thanks for your information. I just wanna know I’m getting housing benefit only and I’m working part time 16hr a week, do you think am I eligible any money? Thank you very much
Hi Billy, thanks for commenting. The housing benefit (which I actually thought was replaced by Universal Credit already, so that's interesting) is a means-tested benefit so you should be eligible for £1050. Please see the breakdown below, where I marked Yes or No against each support type available. Yes, meaning you are eligible and No meaning you are not. 1. £400 Energy Support which is applicable for all households. *YES* 2. £650 payment for those on means-tested benefits *YES* 3. £300 payment for those on the winter fuel plan *NO* 4. £150 payment for those on type of disability benefit *NO*
@@FinancialMadness Hello 👋, thank you very much for your help, I work 16hr per week £8.21 per hour =£525.44 per month + Housing Benefit. And my Electric and Gas was £68 per month and now is £191.98 per month 🤯😨 and I’m not eligible for the food-bank 😤. Crazy world,

£400 energy crisis payments are in installments of £66 starting in October no one will get the full amount this winter
Correct. Just read the latest details that were released this morning. Thanks for highlighting!
plus people in NI will get nothing

Is the package for electricity only and not gas?
Its is for Electricity. But it is common that household to have the same supplier for both. So it can be confusing
No mention of the warm homes discount for pensioners
Won’t pay it I will just send my bill back without opening it! Done not going to keep paying I’ve had enough
Thanks for this clear explanation of what and how. please stop waving your hands about - its distracting!
Thanks, I am glad you found it helpful.

It seems the energy companies are getting the 400 pounds the government is supposed to give to the bill payer who is no better off.
