    We have built 2 chicken coops, converted two sheds into avairys for our sons quails, and you should have seen my hubby face when you used the clamp to hold the wire on. Genius idea wished we knew it 5 years ago. Love your style of videos.

    The first time I've been on this on my notepad and I have started enjoying that so anyway I have another place to go I'm a senior citizen and I grew up with my grandma and my grandpa they built their own home and they built their on chicken poop they did all the above we had everything there we didn't have to go to the store and buy anything cuz everything from the fruits from the herb and everything but now they're gone the house is still not there they tore down anywhere I'm enjoying this because it's bringing memories to me when I was a little girl teenager and I enjoyed with my mama my my papa dude they were my not only my grandparents but they were my parents and enjoy and God bless you and have a blessed day

    I like to put a bar through the hole of the roll, and then hold the roll and walk on it as I unroll it the opposite way it was rolled. Does that make sense? So walk on the back part against the memory of the roll and it flattens it out really well and makes it a little easier to control.

    Looking to build a chicken run and these videos have given me some good tips. I too don't want to dig holes for the posts so I'll also use paving slabs.
    But the build of the run seems to end at this video and all the others are about the coop. I'm interested in how you did the predator-proof skirting that you briefly mentioned, especially since there is a gap between the ground and the horizontal beams at ground level. The details of doing the door would have been useful too.
    Also without digging holes for the posts, how did you anchor the whole structure to the ground?

    nice work! as for the knee pain, try taking curcumin every day before or after breakfast, I forget which. Start with 2-3 capsules and work up until pain is gone. Also collagen is good to take for your joints and cartilage pains. And these supplements are low cost and natural. BTW, you look like Christian Bale, the actor.

    This is what we did. Helpful hints. Put camera on something so your helper is actually helping. Also, unroll hardware cloth and measure and cut. Then staple up. Much easier. Having the hardware cloth on the front go all the way to the dirt would have been just fine. Staple the top of the predator apron right over it.

    I am getting ready to have double knee replacement surgery in nov and ded. I do recommend that you have the testing done now. You DO NOT have to have surgery even if your doctor says you do. but there are so many things now that can be done to delay surgery. such as injections of gel if it is arthritis. However if you tore a meniscus then waiting could mean a lot of scar tissue to clean up. However the decision is yours. Knowing what it is means you know how to deal with the pain;

    “Chicken w--“. I’m thinking to myself, No no no.
    “Hardware cloth” YES YES YES!
    I’m jealous of your power stapler. I hammer in all my staples by hand...every...darn...one. 😓
    By they way, the small predators “at the bottom” (weasels, minks, rats) are really good climbers! If you are going to go with larger mesh at the top you should create a climbing barrier (a piece of bent flashing that sticks out and prevents climbing and jumping up to the next level).
    I can’t be bothered with all that, so I use hardware cloth all the way up. Birds and rats will go through that larger spaced wire and cause all sorts of problems, like multiplying your feed costs and carrying diseases. yuck.
    Gorgeous framing job on that run. ❤️ That thing is going to last 100 years!
    “Well in that case...” walks off. ROFLMAO!
    Nice beard. It’s good to see a man who takes care of his instead of letting it overgrow like a wild man. You are a very cute couple!

    My husband and I have been building a custom coop and run for our chicks for the past six weeks and the more we’ve learned about the need for predator proofing, the more time and money we’ve had to invest into this project...coop is currently looking like Alcatraz with layer upon layer of hardware cloth and feet of welded wire apron around the perimeter with concrete pavers...every time we finish one section we keep looking for “breeches” and say “could a possum fit through there?” and out comes the hammer🥴🤣

    • @LifeOnBeagleRoad
      @LifeOnBeagleRoad  5 лет назад +2

      Yeah... we went back and forth about it, but in our area we rarely have snakes. Plus, our chickens free range about 90% of the time. This run is to help keep the chickens if we leave for a bit or if we need to plant. Our cats handle the rodents! But, if we begin to have issues well then I guess we gotta bite the bullet and pay for more hardware cloth!

      Hopefully these staples hold up. They are galvanized and made to work with PT wood. So there shouldn't be any oxidation. Rusted staples can definitely cause some problems. Our lab did the same damage when we first got him. Now we have a plug in electric fence to keep him in check. Works great!
