I put chicken wire on my coop thinking I would be enough and somehow a hawk managed to get its head or claw through the gap of the wire and kill one of my chickens, I went back the same day and put hardware cloth around it, it's really important to make the coops with bantams as secure as possible because they are like a 5 star meal to hawks
I rolled up in here to decide what to use on the next run I build. I've built one already out of treated 4X4 posts. 4 foot of the same mesh wire you have on the bottom of the run. and also all chicken wire above that. Fully enclosed, utilizing treated 2x4 framing. Over two years impenetrable by a predator. It seems they have all but given up trying to get at the girls at night! Needless to say, your story, passion and persuasion has me concluding to "stick with what works!" Please keep making videos. Your humor and humility is superb! All the Best, John
Thanks John ! You are very kind. You will never know what it means to me. Sounds like you got sold coop. Seems I have to learn my lessons good and hard
Wow, I laughed at chicken jihad! Poor girls. I'm not even trying to build a chicken coop. I'm actually trying to build an outdoor run for my cat... Super helpful video, though!
I would think chicken wire that high up would be fine. I plan on doing mine with 1/4” hardware, got at a better price that the 1/2, on the bottom and chicken wire above. And welded wire on ground outside of coop and run.
What if you run an electrified fence around the bottom? I've seen these solar units that seem nice and can run a long distance and we only need a shorter one. This way when they go to climb they get deterred by the shock. Has anyone done this?
I’m falling behind on social media. Gab is completely new to me so is Instagram. I would’ve already been on both but I have had zero Internet during the daytime. I’m gonna work on that this weekend.I need a social media manager. I’m not very good at it
Man that’s a bummer I’m sorry! I hate that. It’s a lot of work. For them just to be dead all of a sudden. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.
So I am new to all this....we bought a chicken run from tractor supply and wire cloth mesh and now I'm looking at it and going, "How am I gonna attach this mesh to a steel bar?!"😂 any suggestions??

Great information! Sweet kiss!
Thank you both for bringing 💕 love to the world.

it's a brutal lesson to learn. sorry you lost so many.
Damn, I didn’t know I was coming to the gun show! 💪
So if I’ve already installed chicken wire should I just put hardware cloth on top instead of taking the original wire off
That’s what I did
Is this Billy Bob Thornton?
That was a hard lesson learned!
Yes it was
That's what welders do: they don't listen.😂
Well brother, I'm convinced. I'll be picking up hardware cloth .
I wish I would have

It's always good to see a friendly face. Thanks for sharing guys! 😊🌎✨
Great video bud!
Thank you
What gauge is the hardware cloth? Thanks. I don't want the fox getting my chicken either.
Which gauge of hardware cloth would you recommend?
The crappin out omelots got me. Lol

You need to go ahead and put hardware cloth over the rest of the chicken wire. A raccoon can climb right up the sides and tear open the chicken wire.
I know it I’m putting it off. The chickens go inside their electric door every night

I love it! And get on Gab already so you can share updates/pictures and such. Freedom loving site
