  • The Vizhinjam International Seaport in Thiruvananthapuram celebrated a historic moment as it welcomed its first mothership, 'San Fernando'. Operated by Maersk, this semi-automated container transshipment port is set to fully launch by September. With an initial investment of ₹8,800 crore, including ₹3,600 crore from Adani Group, it aims to handle over 5 million TEUs by 2028. Located strategically near international shipping routes, Vizhinjam promises to transform maritime logistics in India.

Totally wrong figures. When completed, the berth would be 2400 meters and not 2000. It is just 10 nautical miles away from the international shipping route and not 100 nautical miles.!

Kerala gov contribution 5500 cr for this project, adani contribution 2500, and central gov gave 800. Total budget of around 9000cr for now seeing 1st phase. Phase 2,3,4 are yet to be constructed by 2028-2029 deadline. This port has a natural birth depth of 20 metrs which no other ports in india have which can easily bring in the worlds biggest motherships like MSC IRINA etc. This port also stands in a strategical point of just 10 notical miles from international shipping route which will help reduce whole indias logistics cost and boost our economy.( China owning one of the ports in colombo - srilanka tells the importance of this port in future geopolitical conflicts)

Never forget that the plan for port in Trivandrum was proposed from pre independence days. And yet our nation played with regional interests. don't forget how much setbacks and tax money our people had to forfeit for petty regional interests. This should have been the first port that our Nation should have built based on it's merits.

Kerala is a cursed state. The royalty of Travancore was very progressive and looked after the kingdom's interest very well. It would have been good if it remained a part of TN but forming a separate Kerala proved fatal for travancore. The dirty politics of communists and congress destroyed the state and forced keralites to leave the state enmasse.

I'm living in the real world whereas you guys live in an inflated world with the mistaken belief that Kerala is the most developed sears. If this is true and Kerala villages are the paradise on earth why over the past several decades there was an exodus from the rural and urgent areas of Kerala to the so called least developed states in India or to the desert countries or to the snow clad countries? Do you see people from developed countries leaved en masse to under developed places? Whenever there was evacuation from warn torn countries like Kuwait, Yemen, Ukraine etc the govt of India had to rescue maximum number of keralites from there compared to other states in India ? All major cities and remotest areas of India have keralites living but you won't find many educated people from other states living in Kerala. Kerala villages are really beautiful but keralites never bothered value the gift of the nature, destroyed them beyond inhabitation. So stop this self patting and come to the real world. Kerala villages are becoming ghost villages and its people like you who do not realise the danger of Kerala becoming an unviable state.
