Black Panther was authentic as hell. They incorporated so many parts of African culture, and they did it right without stereotyping us. It bought tears to my eyes.

As an og black panther fan (Read the original comics and he's been my favorite superhero of all time), its so cool to see other people excited about him. He's always been kind of an underground hero, but maybe now he'll see more mainstream success.

He's not wrong but typically movies with black leads are typically associated with "black films" (i.e. Tyler Perry's movies) and movies with women leads are typically associated with romcoms or are labeled as "chick flicks", and when you try to diverge from that, people get super pissed (i.e. this last Ghostbusters). Even with Star Wars, some people were really pissed about Rey being the protagonist or that there was a black stormtrooper.
It's not about being PC, it's about inclusion in representation and breaking stereotypes.
What do u mean? People were mad not because Rey was a girl but because she came out of nowhere and replaced a beloved childhood character (Luke) just like that

I'm soooooooo excited for Black Panther!!!!! I go to an HBCU in North Carolina and the student government is sponsoring a trip to a movie theater in Virginia to see it at Midnight. I can't wait to go.
This movie was badass. I saw it yesterday and it's probably one of my favorite movies. Soundtrack was great, cast was great, and plot was great.

It's not about whether the lead is black or brown or white. It's simple thing. If the character is originally black, a black actor should play that. If the character is white, a white actor should play it. And similarly if the character is Asian, it should be played by an Asian. It's a simple rule that should be followed :)

Race didn’t even come to my mind when I heard about this film, I was just excited for another marvel movie and to see his smooth kickass moves again. His entrance as black panther (not T’challa) in civil war was so amazing and intimidating I was genuinely scared for Bucky and thought that black panther was so badass
Rose the black panther character was based on the panther party which was a black movement so I wouldn’t be suprised if race did come to anybody mind

There are many ethnic groups still waiting for their major superhero. African people just are all the rage in todays cultures. People of other ethnic groups practically worship them and are influenced by their culture in an abnormal way. Thats how society works.

For the people in the comments talking about Blade, you gotta remember that the Blade trilogy was rated R, which limited the scope of the audience There was profanity in every sentence Blade said, there was lots of blood and gore since it was a vampire film, and that made it limited in who got to watch those films.
Black Panther on the other hand is at a rating where children and teens are going to be able to go watch it in theaters, where they are going to see heroes that can inspire them and is set in a realistic world; a place like Wakanda could've existed in our reality.

Omg they love to bring up Blade and Hancock. I love Blade but people are making a big deal about Black Panther NOT because they act like he is the only black superhero to ever star in a live action it’s because it’s the first superhero movie to have a majority black cast unlike Blade and Hancock for example . Also Blade and Hancock were just superheroes who just happened to be black while Black Panther is a African king of an advanced country in Africa who is proud of his culture and fights for his people . There is a BIG difference between Black Panther and the other FEW movies that starred black superheroes and for anyone who brings up characters like Falcon well Falcon is just a side kick to a white superhero and Falcon is a super hero who just happened to black.

In my opinion I see this film as important for a few reasons. This is the first major studio release of a super hero film with a black super hero as the lead. If this is a universally loved film by critics and fans, as well as a financial success, then it proves that people are willing to pay to see movies that are not like what has come before. This would make it easier for large studios to get behind big budget projects that could feature other minorities in the lead or having a largely not white/European cast and still make a profit.
Black Panther may not be the first Marvel film to have a black lead - anyone remember Blade? - but it sure is the most hype.

I never said it was part of the MCU though, but Blade is still a Marvel property in the same comics universe as the rest.

It's amazing that this movie is appealing to everyone, including people who don't read the comics. Everybody just knows how awesome it is that there is a major superhero movie with a Black cast after all this time.

I watched it in the cinema in London and all I can say is that it is one of my favourite movies.
It was also in d-box seats( they move to the movie ) so it was extra amazing.
Wonderful experience.
