    There was a very sweet scene in the beginning that was deleted. When the Durselys were leaving Dudley shook Harry's hand. It didn't remotely make up for all the abuse over the years but it was touching nevertheless that after Harry saved his life from the Dementors Dudley finally accepted him as his brother.

    Possibly the best paragraph in all the books: "And then with a little shudder the elf became quite still, and his eyes were nothing more than great glassy orbs, sprinkled with light from the stars they could not see." My then 16 year old daughter and I were each reading this book the night it came out (we picked ours up at midnight) - I was about 50 pages ahead of her. I knew she had reached this when she quietly closed the book, went to the washroom, and didn't come out for 30 minutes.

    The thing about Draco is this: he’s not “a good guy after all.” He’s not. He’s a jerk. But that doesn’t make him a killer. As Dumbledore says in the book, killing is not nearly so easy as the innocent believe.” He just wanted to look like a tough guy, he didn’t have it in him to straight up murder someone.

    • @hildajensen6263
      @hildajensen6263 Год назад +39

      Draco isn't a good guy, but he isn't really a bad one either (unlike his aunt). He was the spoiled elitist he was raised by his father to be, without thinking much about it.
      By the time he stated really thinking about right and wrong and who he wanted to be, he was already in too deep, and stepping out of line could cost the lives of his entire family. And no, he wasn't tough enough to stand up in spite of that. But few people are.

    • @sorryimananti-romantic7513
      @sorryimananti-romantic7513 Год назад +9

      @@hildajensen6263 i agree. i feel like he was very misunderstood and being raised into a family who wanted power and was destined to join the dark side, he had no other choice. looking back and watching the movies, it makes me feel like draco just wanted to be accepted and to have friends like harry did. he wanted to be himself and follow his own path but wasn't able to. and watching him grow though the movies, he saw what was happening is wrong, he wanted to leave and not be a part of it but didn't, like you said, he didn't want to cross the line and cost him and his entire family to be at stake with voldemort.
      in the scene where harry tries to grab draco's wand, you can see draco giving up and letting harry take his wand, in a way to let them escape and get somewhere safe. the little things like that, shows how much draco doesn't want to be evil and doesn't want to hurt anyone.

      Actually there is sadly a deleted scene from the yard in hogwarts during the fight and when Harry cannot reach his wand Draco grabs it then throws it to Harry for him to kill voldermort . They should have left it in.

    • @karenhall4645
      @karenhall4645 3 месяца назад

      He kept trying to kill Dumbledore by other means. But there are those 2 scenes where we do see that Draco has a heart. When he sees Katie Bell and runs to the washroom he is crying. And after the dead bird is sent back in the Vanishing Cabinet, we see his horrified expression and can hear him crying.
      His father did mistreat him but his mother was extremely loving. I think that kept Draco from being a carbon copy of Lucius.

    • @oxeye8891
      @oxeye8891 3 месяца назад

      @@sorryimananti-romantic7513 yeah that's where the movie took liberties and portrayed him very differently than the original book version. Draco Malfoy is not a good person, and no he isn't pulled between his own path and what his family needed him to be. He's a Malfoy through and through. His beliefs are the same as the family's. The only reason he seems not on board with Voldy is because Lucius lost favor. If Lucius never screwed up with the diary and the ministry-prophecy debacle and remained in good standing, Draco would be crowing for muggleborns to be subjugated and lording over everyone else. But alas Lucius fucked up and as a major coward, Draco got scared. And even then he never let Harry take his wand, Harry just overpowered him.

    In the books, while Ron is gone from the trio he overhears people talking about the taboo. During the first wizarding war, Voldemort managed to leverage assets within the ministry to place a taboo on his name. A taboo is a charm that makes it so when a word is spoken, it breaks all but the most powerful of enchantments in the area and alerts certain people of the location it was spoken. This is, among other reasons, why nearly everyone was always terrified to say Voldemort's name, even after his first downfall. The taboo was removed when the ministry regained its footing, but when Voldemort got back into power and took over the ministry, the taboo was put back. Ron overhears people talking about it, and he lets Harry and Hermione know once he returns. This is why when Xenophilius Lovegood says Voldemort it alerts the death eaters of the location. it's also how the two death eaters found them after they disaperated from the wedding.

Instead of being stunned by Dobby in the dungeon scene, in the book Wormtail actually catches Harry before he can escape and instead of killing him right away he hesitates after Harry reminded him of the debt he owed him for not turning him to the Dementors back in Prisoner of Azkaban. Because of this Wormtail was actually strangled to death by the silver hand Voldemort had given him after interpreting his hesitancy for treason. Dobby actually worked at Hogwarts in the kitchens with the other house elves but Dumbledore agreed to pay him and give him days off. Also in the book Harmione had started an activist group for House Elves and tried to rally support. But most of the house elves didn't want anything to do with it.

    Couple really important notes left out or different in the book:
    1) Wormtail lets Harry and Ron out of the dungeon at Malfoy manor after being caught by snatchers. This was wormtails redemption moment and a big moment in the book. Voldemort had given Wormtail a magical silver hand in book 4 in the graveyard after being brought back - since it sensed wormtails betrayal it choked wormtail to death after he saved Harry.
    2) The word "Voldemort" has a trace on it put on by the now overtaken ministry. This explains how they found Harry and the gang so quickly after escaping the wedding. It also explains why Lunas dad says the name and the death eaters arrive instantly at the house. The reason a trace is put on it is because only people who stand against "Voldemort" use that name, otherwise they either refer to him as the Dark Lord or are to scared to refer to him at all.
    3) The eyeball on Umbridges office was the very same as Mad Eye Moody's. After his death she kept it as a momento.
    Many, many, many other details that were left out, but if I include them all I would type for days!

      I hate how out-of-left-field the movies make their relationship seem! Bill and Molly are meant to be there for the third task in GoF as Harry's family because the other champions all have family visiting, and that's when Fleur and Bill first meet. Fleur later takes a desk job at Gringotts and gets paired with Bill who volunteers to "help her improve her English," and they fall in love on a genuine, deeper level than what Molly assumes based on Fleur's appearance. Then, Fleur puts up with the way the women in Bill's life treat her for the better part of a year before the wedding. Once she finally stands up to Molly in HBP, she is accepted by the Weasleys in time for the wedding. Theirs is a love story that deserved better, much like Remus and Tonks, Harry and Ginny, and even Ron and Hermione.

Warner Brother's wanted to test it out to see if a global audience could care about a school based in the UK. Early on I think it's really cool how some prolific British actors agreed to appear in the first movie. Then you can tell as each film went on it became even more of a global phenomenon and they could get even bigger names in British and Irish film and theater. Daniel Radcliffe used to say it was like going to the best drama school on the planet because pretty much all of the adult cast are legends in the British and Irish film industry.

This book is extremely dark and mature, especially with the story of Dumbledore's family and the horror of the horcruxes. It was also quite depressing with how often the Trio had to move locations and they all went through some pretty heavy mental breakdowns. I find the Death Eaters extremely scary. I've had nightmares about hiding from them that were pretty chilling even in my adulthood. The thing to remember about Ron even though the movies didn't do his character justice is that he comes from a family of extremely accomplished people. His 5 older brothers were all over-achievers and Ginny is a really strong witch and also very popular. It's not that Ron is weak or goofy it's just that he always felt really normal and then at Hogwarts it's kind of the same with Harry being famous and Hermione being as smart as she is. Ron is just surrounded by extremely excellent people. I think in retrospect a lot of people are more like Ron than we care to admit.

    You have to read the books to get the full backstory on Dumbledore and his family that was mentioned at the wedding. Same with the story of how Harry actually got that shard of mirror.
    They busted through the wall into the house next door when Harry was fighting the snake.
    Rob was more right thsn he knew about the wolf looking guy since that's Fenrir Greyback. He's the werewolf that bit Lupin abd turned him abd he is basically a death eater even though they despise his kind.
    Tbe goblin in the dungeon with them is not Professor Flitwick..his name is Griphook but he's played by the same actor in this one.
    In the book Hermione was unconscious and literally couldn't help Dobby anyway.

It's just sad when it ends and you see the shadow cross Hermiones face again 😢 also, Ron was affected most by the Horcrux because he has constantly been overshadowed. It bought out his worst fears and thoughts which were that he wasn't wanted or loved. Hence his outburst at Harry and Hermione. In the book he even explains it made him think dark thoughts, and after destroying the Horcrux he cried. I think it's Hermione who says his name as she's explaining what she did, inadvertently throwing out a huge "come and get us" signal.

    Almost there! I'm expecting a lot of gasps and tears for Part 2!
    Grindelwald, the thief from the pictures and Harry's vision in Voldemort's mind, he had a very impactful relationship with Dumbledore and it wasn't even mentioned in the movie; Rita Skeeter's book only implied they knew each other in a couple of photos
    It affected how Dumbledore made his decisions regarding himself, the Wizarding world AND the Muggles
    Grindelwald is also the focus of the prequel series, Fantastic Beasts, that recently got cut short by Warner Bros. there were supposed to be five movies; only three will apparently be made; the name also cropped up on Harry's first ever train ride to Hogwarts; it was on his Chocolate Frog card of Dumbledore, but it was only mentioned in the book You see, the books have started to tie together, beginning with the revelation that Tom Riddle's diary was a Horcrux the whole time and now with:
    - Gryffindor's sword used to slay the Basilisk can destroy the rest
    - the Deluminator (used by Dumbledore on the night Harry was delivered to the Dursleys in Sorcerer's Stone saves Ron's life in a way
    - the Golden Snitch caught in Harry's first Quidditch match now being of some utmost importance
    The Tale of the Three Brothers is more involved thematiacally; once you finish Part 2, we, your fan base, will explain it to you
    Viktor Krum showed up at the wedding in the book and he revealed that the mark of the Deathly Hallows is graffitied on a wall on his campus in Durmstrang, where he attends Grindelwald was a student there too but got expelled for studying the Dark Arts too seriously i.e. the Deathly Hallows
    These two movies have the most content from their books since Chamber of Secrets but some key things have still been left out
    PLEASE WATCH PART 2 for film Friday! We would love to see your reaction to the finale right after this part!
    Love you both very much! ❤❤❤

    a few fun Polyjuice Potion tidbits:
    - this is the potion first seen in the 2nd book/movie, brewed in the girls’ bathroom w/ moaning myrtle for the trio to ask Malfoy abt the Chamber of Secrets. it is also extensively used in the 4th book/movie for Barty Crouch jr to impersonate Mad Eye all year
    - typically, Polyjuice Potion takes on characteristics of the person you are transforming into. when Harry + Ron became Crabbe + Goyle, it was disgusting and sluggish, gray-green, and very gross. it is said in the books that when the group took Harry-Polyjuice Potion before leaving Privet Drive, it turned a clear, bright gold in and was "much tastier" than both Crabbe's and Goyle's
    - for Bill + Fleur’s wedding, Harry was actually disguised as a random red-headed muggle from the local village using the potion. everyone who knew told everyone else that he was just another Weasley cousin and that they must not remember him because the family is so large
    - before the trio left the Weasley’s in the beginning, they stole the remainder of Mad-Eye’s Polyjuice Potion stores in case they would need it. After using most of what was left for the Ministry mission, Harry + Hermione used some more when they went to Godric’s Hollow, they disguised themselves as muggles and wore the invisibility cloak for extra protection. when they went to bathilda’s house, they took off the cloak but were still disguised. she only knew it was Harry bc she was actually Nagini

    I find the dance between Harry and Hermione to be so precious. I love that moment between them trying to find a moment to smile amidst the tragedy of their lives.

    Something that may be helpful for you guys to know is that Flitwick is the Hogwarts Charms teacher. The goblin at the Malloy mansion is called Griphook. They are different characters in the books and movies, but in the movies they are played by the same actor - Warwick Davies. Love the reactions so far,

    It’s been so fun to watch these with you guys. I’m 37 and love older music so i got into your videos from those and I’m obsessed with the movie reactions. Really can’t wait for you to see part 2 and hopefully it won’t get spoiled. So many amazing moments and revelations and that’s all I’ll say

    I understand about Dumbledore. When the book first came out, and I got to the part where Dumbledore fell from the top of the astronomy tower, I must have read and reread that part 20 times, thinking "no, no, no, it's got to be a ruse! He's got to come back like Gandalf!" I was crushed! I wish WB would hurry up and make extended editions with all the deleted scenes, there are important ones in the Deathly Hallows.

      Peacock's version of the films include the deleted scenes. But it may also cut other scenes out - I can't figure it out but they do a fade to black every once in a while at points where I know the original film didn't do that.

    The Tales of Beedle the Bard was published as a small book of fairytales in the same vein as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (the textbook) and Quidditch Through the Ages alongside the main Harry Potter books; the Beedle the Bard book has accompanying footnotes written by Dumbledore who explains wand cores, his and Grindelwald's plans to search for the Hallows, and offers knowledge and insight on the other tales and how they relate to the larger story. It's not only a nice read the way that Cinderella or Aesop's Fables, but it also expands upon the Wizarding World as we know it. For anyone who hasn't taken the time to read it, give The Tales of Beedle the Bard a chance.

    The little trinkets that let off the gas were called "decoy detonators" invented by the weasly twins.
    The movies don't mention that harry won 1000 galleons for winning the tri wizard tournament and gave the galeons to the weasley twins and told them to "get inventing".
