    Huge thanks. Time to order my cap now knowing there is a good solution.

    Great vid. I have been concerned about getting a cap for this exact reason. Now I know there is a solution. Not a fan of how obvious the camera is. Would be nice to have it integrated to the brake light, but at least it's something. Thanks for sharing.

      I'm with you. I toyed with the idea of hacking up a new gm third brake light just for the low profile camera.

    Great video instructions!! After seeing your RUclips, I got the kit and installed the kit on my Sierra HD 2023. Thank you.

      You are very welcome. Call them and ask for a kit for the bed camera. If they hear of more demand they will work on one.

      Great video about how long did this take? Is there a better kid available so something GM will do for you now? Thank you

    I installed it over two days because of other appointments. The cap brake light was the hardest. I spent two hours on the first day. 15 minutes of actual install work and 1 hour and 45 minutes with a sharpened putty knife, scraping, acetone washing, and fingernail digging to get that damn 3M tape off. Today, I spent another 2 hours running the camera cable to the roof of the driver's side back seat. Tip - pull the tail light off - just two screws and easy peezy from there. Everything was exactly like this great video. Very pleased with the result. The camera quality is as good as the GM OEM. Great product! Worth every penny. Looking forward to the brake light replacement with the built-in camera. ARE should offer it as an option with their caps.

    Great video. Sharp looking 2500 you got there.Looking at this for my silver 2020 HD Denali. I was wondering about the carwash, too so thanks for the insight.

      Ben, I've had to adjust it a few times from the car wash now. I was thinking about retightening the screw, but I think I'd rather let it get moved a little instead of breaking off.

    Just installed the camera relocation kit on my 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500Hd LTZ with a Leer Cab. On the Leer Cab, there are two screws on the inside of the camper shell that hold the third brake light in place, so it does not require the adhesive tape. I had already installed a bedrug and when the camper shell was put on, they had run a braided wiring through the location from the bed that is shown in the video. I pulled the taillight as suggested from a previous comment and still I worked several hours trying to feed the camera wiring through the same area with no success. Since I had the bedrug I decided to drill a hole lower down from the hole that was suggested. The bedrug would cover the wiring. Using a Stepdown Drill bit, I was able to accomplish the task to get the wiring through and underneath the bed. By placing a piece of 2by4 under the carpet, I also used an extension and a stepdown drill bit to drill through the grommet under the passenger seat area as shown in the video. Great video and now I have my Mirror working fine.

      Thank you Charles. Your description should help the next guy with the carpet.

    Check the space between your open rear window and the camera body. I have a 2023 GMC 1500 Denali and a Z2 ARE cap. My rear window is pushing the ENTIRE light assembly up and away from the cap body! It's overpowering the 3M tape and tearing it loose. I've asked CameraSource for a higher bracket or some other way to raise the camera above the level where the rear window can hit it.

    Great video! thank you for the detailed instruction. BTW, does your truck has the camera which is looking down the bed, located beside the rear view mirrior camera ?

    • @4RibsFishing

      Thank you. Yes it does, or did, with the cap in the way it's not effective. It needs a camera relocation kit too!!!

      Thank you for the video. I will be doing this on my 2024 3500. It will be great to have the Rear View Camera function again. But, with a canopy on, I'm wondering why relocating the cargo camera would have much value to me. I really don't need to look into my canopy with a camera. It's a great function with an open box to monitor cargo in the box, but with a fully enclosed canopy I don't see the need for it. @@4RibsFishing

    Has anyone tried this with RSI SmartCap? They don’t show one available on their site so I’m wondering what may work. Great video! Thanks!

      You can always fabricate your own mount, or even alter theirs. It shouldn't be that hard.

    What about the bed camera? Have a link for that camera to see the stuff in the bed? I did the same thing for rear view mirror but that same camera doesn’t work for bed camera or cargo camera

    Does this affect the 360 view on the camera display? Do you still get the side view cameras as well? Curious to know what camera views this affects by relocating. Thank you.

    • @4RibsFishing

      This camera only replaces the rear view mirror view. No other cameras or views are impacted.

      @baileykirkpatrick2526 2 месяца назад

      We have a Denali so I don’t know if it is any different with the cameras. Someone said it would affect the 360 camera view because that pulls from multiples cameras and moving this rear view mirror view camera could affect that.

    Looking at getting on of these truck coming from a 2022 Ram 2500. What your impressions of the truck do far? I tow a 26foot boat running about 9500 to 10k fully loaded.

    • @4RibsFishing
      @4RibsFishing  5 месяцев назад

      Airman, I tow a 30' boat with twin 300s on a steel trailer. 10-12k depending on fuel load, etc. this truck is a beast. I'm so happy I didn't go for diesel. I towed the same boat for a couple years with a max tow prepped 1/2 ton. GM said it could do the weight, but it was white knuckled. This truck can do so much more.

      Yes. This kit just relocated the factory camera. The mirror always and only acts as a rear view mirror.

    Could this camera be mounted inside the truck cap viewing out through the glass? Looks like that camera may get ripped off if you go through a car wash

    • @4RibsFishing
      @4RibsFishing  7 месяцев назад

      Maybe. My back door is aluminum so it won't work for me. It does get moved in the car wash.
