The sheer willpower of Touma in this volume is just, amazing-no! I cajt describe it. Dude got curbstomp in every fight in these volume (well, except in Accel vs Touma R3, not that much injuries) and only got a few moments to rest. The fight with Thor was probably like if you have just 5 HP left and you gotta fight the end boss somehow, no revive.

It makes sense on why touma is like the way he is in The Index version. He is obsessed with saving everyone. He keeps Index with him. He is her keeper after Stylies. he keeps protecting index, she can become magic God as well.

NT9 and NT10 are just the best of them all! And that is saying a lot because I love the English civil war arc, the arc where Accelerator and No2 fight, and the WWIII arc. But NT9 and NT10 are just the best of the best!
There are not many people or characters that would throw their neck on the line vs the whole world for someone that just destroy the world and put them through billions of years of hell but here we are with Touma. I can fully understand why Touma did it though, Othinus is a person that wanted her world back at all costs. She is one of the most selfish and rotten people you could have ever met and her actions she is worthy of death. However, what does killing Othinus (who now is doomed anyway with the Fairy Spell backlash) really do? Make the World feel better she is dead? In the end, is it really Justice or just bloody revenge? Touma knows what Othinus did was evil but he also wants Othinus to be given a fair trial and not just be brutally killed. He even says so, in NT10, I will visit you all the time, Othinus. For a guy who has just been through hell billions of times throughout his life and has a bunch of Dragon powers, he has more human morals than a being could ever dream of having. He knows how cruel and evil the world can be but also knows how good the world can be. Even after fighting the world to save her, she is still ungrateful to him. It proved how much of a better person Touma is to her and proved under all that godly power and ego are gone, how much of a coward Othinus truly was. Yet Touma saves her again one last time at the end of NT10. It is why Touma is the best and will always be the best guy you could ever meet! He is a lad I fully respect.
Dude. I felt like this was the moment the writing just jumped the shark. I just ended laughing at the ending to the arc on how Absurd it was.
@@arnowisp6244 It does get a bit absurd to be quite frank, which is why I personally don't see this arc as peak Kamachi writing. While I appreciate its ambition, I find the emotional authenticity of it and the cohesion of its narrative decision to be a bit lacking. For one, I had always had a hard time believing that Index would have even attempted to try to stop Touma, whether or not he was helping the enemy of the world. Index's (the character) whole schtick, the very thing that makes her relationship with Touma unique when compared to the dynamics he shares with other characters in the series, is that Index (and in a fashion Othinus as well as of the events of this arc) ALWAYS believes in Touma; this has been established time and time again. Index (and now Othinus) is arguably the character who is the most accepting and reassuring of who Touma is as a person; she believes in his ability to always do right and to protect others, even though it stresses her out that he constantly puts himself in danger for others, those others mostly be women (of course to her chagrin). Even if Index was deployed on orders to stop Touma from assisting Othinus, the character established by the story so far doesn't seem like the person who would have even doubted Touma in this scenario, and so her trying to stop him feels out of character, even if we want to use the excuse that Index thought that Touma was being mind-controlled.
If you want to convincingly make a situation where Index would doubt Touma and be against it, you would need to create a thoughtful conflict between the two of them that would inherently change the way Index would feel about Touma's actions, one that recontextualizes her feelings behind Touma's actions, then make that conflict between the two of them weighty enough to justify Index wanting to go against Touma, even if the reason is as genuine as her trying to protect him. This arc feels like a product of Kamachi wanting to write something extremely grand in scale while also being contemplating, but in that process, not always nailing the important things that could have REALLY elevated this greatness, and at times, feels like an upping of scale without impactful, well-thoughout drama to coincide with it all. I think the thing that hit me the most in this volume was Mikoto's talk with Touma as well as Touma's countless battles with Othinus finally providing the means for him to get close to her, especially considering he almost had her in his last attempt.
To this day, I still think sisters arc (railgun version) is the peak of Kamachi's writing; not in terms of scale or creative sci-fi/fantasy world building and concepts, but in terms of character nuance, potent narrative choices, and emotional pathos whose gravity in the story has left character and narrative-defining after effects, like Mikoto realizing that her mistakes are what give her the motivation to bring change and that accountability is important to affecting happiness in your life

@@tetra242 After all Touma goes through, she at the very last sec throws it in his face by using the last of her magic so she dies, because she truly believes she does not deserve it. While she is right due to all the sins she did being an MG. The ungrateful part comes from Touma just fought the whole world to save her despite all the billions of years of hell she put him through. Not many sane people would save the ones that just torture them.
Gonna have to wait 100 years to watch this get adapted.

The magic god Othinus arc really took the top spot for me. The sisters arc was great definitely the best at the time but I love how you actually get an analysis of Touma's character and whether or not he's doing the right thing with magic God othinus. On top of all the great character interactions.
The Magic God Othinus arc was probably the best stories I've ever read (especially NT9 and 10). Othinus became my most favourite light novel character.

@@artofthepossible7329 When they fought in Russia, Accelerator was sane enough to create strategies that exploited Imagine Breaker's weakness. He was also sane enough to realize that Touma has developed precognition due to his immense combat experience.
He did have a mental breakdown because of Misaka Worst but he seemed to have snapped out of it when he saw Touma and decided to lash out at him. Both of them were mentally disturbed when they fought in Russia.

this volume was my fav BY FAR. As much as i hoped for the next volumes of NT/GT nothing ever had me as hyped to see how Touma is supposed to handle fighting his previous allies and friends and their reactions to what he was trying to do.

I'll be honest when I first read this I was a little disappointed that Touma kept getting his but whopped and not kicking butt, but than I realized that him doing so would be very occ cause that not the type of character he is, he isn't some overpowered (he is but you know what I mean) MC, he's a person that always stands back up and uses his brains and empathy to win. WHICH IS STILL BADASS!!!

Yeah I mean, it would be boring if all the encounters were easy for him, it truly felt more of a challenge and made it truly feel like he was against the world. And agreed, love the strategy in fights, much more interesting than who can fire the biggest ki blast!
I really wish touma had like superhuman prowess like itadori yuji (from jujustu kaisen) I know that Change his character but come on touman has to go through so much shit the least kamachi could do for him is give him some regenerative ability or super strength so that my man can atleast fight back or recover faster so he doesnt have to lose his money in the hospital. Wait, maybe what you said at 5:54 actually was foreshadowing. It makes a lot of sense. Touma has now teammed up with Sprengel, and we know she's still a very bad person (and she still has a plan that we don't fully know). What if Touma isn't able to change her for the better? What if she even kills Othinus in order to eliminate Touma's greatest source of magic knowledge and to make him go mad (just like in OT 2 and NT 22R)??

I started reading NT and the starting was lit AF, Accelerator stopping all bad groups, Accel Touma and Hamazura meeting together with Mugino and others, Sigma male Drunk Touma, and so much more fun but I couldn't continue reading it due to work pressure. I watched every video you've posted, some many times and I really wanted to reach NT 9 and 10 but I slowly realized it won't be happening anytime soon. So I'm really thankful to you for explaining this story.

You know what I really like about Touma and Misaka dynamic in this arc. After Misaka hugged and defeated Touma finally changing him and making him stop blaming himself. When Touma defeated Othinus, he defeated her with a hug and a talk just like Misaka did to him. Showing how much Misaka changed him and how he views her.
Accelerator is the G, he purposely lost knowing that the other level 5’s would would run away and stand no chance if the top boy got defeated. Even though it’s strange Sogiita back down since he’s not the type to back out from a challenge. Plus Sogiita did state he wanted to challenge Touma in a fight. Mugino encountering Touma would’ve interested since they never met before and Mugino would want to meet the Level 0 Hamazura admires so much and defeated Accelerator.
This is why Birdway is a weird character that I don’t particularly like since her plan makes no sense to defeating Othinus. LIKE BRUH your willing to destroy the world just to kill Othinus, how dumb are these people. Is Aleister literally the only smart one?

Greetings Aeon, I was wondering if you did request. There is a scene in NT 14 where Othinus discusses what Touma's true strengths is near the beginning of the volume. It is an inspiring scene that, in my opinion, matches or suppresses "it bothers me." it shows a fundamental truth on the idea of good vs evil, even a core concept that has been prevalent throughout the whole franchise.
He might do a Kamisato arc whole review eventually and this could be one of the points discussed

I wanted to let you know, that I am now 60% into reading while listening to the seventh volume of the OT light novel. It's been great. Touma, I believe, has got to learn how to do martial arts and swordfighting sometime soon. Also, how old is Orsola Aquinas? She sure got intimate with Touma really fast. I saw his reaction after she almost kissed him while he was putting that English Puritan cross necklace on her, so I know for sure that he is not ready to be with anyone yet. He looked like he was having a heart attack. There are so many things I'm looking forward to reading in this series.

Orsola doesn't hesitate to touch and hold Touma in her arms. She's way better than Index is. I'm getting really annoyed with her biting. Agnese was way forward with Touma, plus she mainly speaks Italian, which he can't understand. Also, instead of Touma walking in on naked girls, I'm waiting for a few of those girls to walk in on him naked. What was the deal with Agnese crawling into Touma's bed?

@@pierocolombo2643 Hi there. It's been a while. I wanted to let you know, that I have just finished reading while listening to volume 9 of the OT light novel. It was really good, despite the fan service. I was a bit shocked at how much happened in just one day of this festival, when I thought that maybe 2 had gone by. The anime left out so many details when it comes to the various battles that Touma was in. Also, I saw how he saved Fukiyose's life. I wonder if she is going to remember that later. So, even though both Fukiyose and Himegami see that Touma is basically a stranger, Himegami at least, wants to be with him. Fukiyose doesn't like or dislike him, but I think that is about to change. It was interesting and odd to see that Index does so little in this volume.

Yeah Index anime was definetly a bad adaptation of the story which is sad... but anyway glad u enjoyed, the cool thing about Fukiyose is that her friendship with Touma is entirely normal, no hero actions involved, no random rescues, nothing but a friendship between 2 highschoolers that know each other from a long time (at least for now) so its genuinely fun despite the headbutts.
Btw if it interest you, the Daihasei arc from Railgun happened on day 2 😂so yeah Touma basically went from chasing a magician all day to pop dragons on the next day without a stop. Also if you decide to watch the movie eventually (endymion) it happens before daihasei so you might wanna check

The other Magic Gods had nothing to do with Othinus surviving, they didn't like her and saw her as a failure since she got rid of her powers in the past and wasn't a member of True Gremlin

@@Seth34864 I'm not sure as what they were doing exactly was written in a vague way, and Othinus herself listed the reasons why she was still alive. Unless True Gremlin intervened to stop her breaking away fully?

This is probably a dumb question. But can anybody explain the meaning behind removing one's eye to become a magic God? And why regaining said eye reverts you back to normal?
That was part of Othinus' norse ritual to become a God. To become a Magic God, you must discard or sacrifice your physical body to gain a new body of a god, in Othinus' case she had to remove one eye and hang herself on a tree. By replacing her human eye, she would no longer fulfil the conditions she set to become a God, therefore would revert back.
