I put the leaves in a bottle and added odourless coconut oil and left it in the sun for 3 days, I opened the bottle and it kind of stinks, what is the cause of that
can use it but coconut is already fragrant so it may clash with your peppermint scent if thats part what you're going for. Vegetable oil doesnt have much of a scent, like grapeseed oil and other oils so it'll smell like peppermint only.

It's been sitting for 10 days in the sun, I think that's why she said use any type of vegetable oil, something to do with viscosity, maybe. Probably pulls and retains the good stuff.
