Ever thought about steamer juicer, I've got one couple of decads ago, my mom had one in old country decades before I got mine. Wonderful inventions. You put water on bottom tier, then the empty middle tier and then the grapes, berries on top, let it do it's thing and juice gathers in the middle and you just drain it through the attached hose. No pain.
Thank you thank you thank you. Daughter just gifted my a grocery bag full of these luscious grapes. I needed someone to show me how to do it from start to finish canning etc. Bless you!
I bought a steamer, and was able to juice over 150 lbs of grapes, so easy, stems and all went in, no mashing etc. then the juice comes out so nice and hot in goes into the sterilized jars and is so hot they seal in minutes, love it! got mine for $59.00 at BiMart here in the states, love this have used it for every kind of berry, plus added no sugar, turned out so yummy!
We made grape juice by adding the grapes in the jars, very little sugar and boiling hot water. Also did cranberries the same way. Both taste wonderful. But also have made apple juice and lemonade concentrate. All taste wonderful. Nothing like homemade juice. Love and hugs.
Nothing as good as a nighttime swim. My mouth was watering when you drank the last of the grape juice. Could see you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing. Love you!!
Ooh you are CLEVER Mrs Volfie!! Using those racks upside down, genius. I'm not sure you needed that much water in the pots though. I'd've put an 1" maybe 1 1/2" because they're going to be shedding a LOT of water from all that ice before they start shedding juice so you're facing cooking it forever to get rid of all the water. I know it's too late for now but next year measure how many cups or mls 1" of water is in both your pots when empty. And Yes I did, you taught me well, as you were screwing down the lid I was calling (because yeah you can hear me across the Atlantic in Canada duh!) "Oh no you forgot to wipe the rim Bev" see, you speak, I listen and remember. Lol. I'd say that over storage the liquid will probably dissolve the sugar unless it turned to hard toffee which I don't think it did, even that'll dissolve in enough time though.
Thank you honey! If I get more grapes I will do it your way and I won't freeze them LOL but I had to look up the recipe since it's been over 20 years since I made grape juice and it was told I was told to just cover the grapes with water and I put lesson because they were frozen so I think I did okay right? I must have heard you yes but I wanted people to know that I make mistakes just like everybody else LOL
Hope you're feeling better today! 3 years ago, I did the sugar, grapes, boiling water method and had sugar settle on the bottom. It dissolved eventually, but the juice wasn't very good. I did a similar method to what you've done here, last year, and wow! What a difference! Delicious!
Bev.... thanks for that great tip for how to raise the pot off the heat. I have a pot with a thin bottom I don't use it because of the problem of stuff sticking to the bottom. Now I can use my pot again Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for the recipe. Where I live I don't get enough grapes to make juice. It looks like it has wonderful flavor. Hope you are feeling better soon. Enjoy the swim. Peace and blessings.
I ran my grapes thru my slow juicer and made the pulpy liquid into jam. This is a good idea too! I bet it wld be good with a little soda water etc over ice on a hot day.
Hello cool video, my next canning is grape jelly lol love your grape juice video very cool, looks good, that's gonna be great, I love canning have a great weekend
Thank you so very much for this video. I have organic Concord grapes coming on and I want to make grape juice. I’ve made crabapple, rhubarb, chokecherry and mixed berry juices. This year I want to add grape to all the others I have. Thanks again and many blessings💝🙏🏻💝
Thanks for another wonderful video. Look at you in pain and processing grapes, I don!t know what generation we are called but it should be work horse, lol. I made grape juice last year using the tiny champagne grapes that I got a deal on 5.00 a case so I froze mine as well and when I could did everything just as you did except I did not add sugar. We open a jar when the grandkids are here and 50/50 juice and club soda and they love it. When my mom made this years ago she made a simple syrup and sweetened hers with that so no sugar formed in bottom of her jars. Thanks for the tip about wiping jars off with vinegar I forget to put it into the water sometimes as well. This year my fibro seems to be flaring so bad even though I have been sugar, grain, and something else free for 5 months and lost 40 pounds, so those who say loosing weight makes everything better NOT, lol,. You are a living testament of overcoming life's obstacles, thank you thank you. Now try to rest before your next project.
Thank you darling simple syrup that's brilliant! No there's no slowing down I still got potatoes to dehydrate I've dehydrated my celery and I still have 4 cases of tomatoes to can and then I have to start on the meat in the freezer LOL but this weekend past I bought bathroom scales for the first time in 30 years and I've lost 49 pounds in the last 3 years! If you look at one of my t break videos in 2015 you'll notice it I had to buy the scales LOL because I couldn't tell
I thought I saw a difference but did not want to comment because I know what its like to have comments about my weight, (my feelings get hurt and I get mean). I had not stepped on a scale for about 4 years but my 3x clothes were fitting far too tight I can not afford a new wardrobe so I decided to try something different and for me kept is working slow and steady. I loved the canned nacho cheese video thats the first pressure canning experience I had and we are on our last couple jars hubby is asking me to do it again so I am going to wing it.
Bev you are just awesome. I hope you’re feeling better. I did tomatoes last week and I was down for two days! Ugh We do what we gotta though don’t we. Love ya bunches lady. God Bless ~Lisa
Thank you! I got a 5 gallon bucket of grapes from my Dad in the late summer early fall. 2 of the 6 one gallon bags I processed yesterday into jelly. I think I will tackle grape juice too. Blessings! :)
I just re-watched this video because the home we rent has grapevines out back that produced a bumper crop of grapes this year! I still have several jars of grape jelly left over from last year's crop, so I'm doing grape juice this year! As I understand it, I could also make some freezer jelly from this juice later on in the year if I manage to run out, so bonus! Thanks (as always) for your videos!
Thanks Bev, hopefully I'll be able to try that this year. I've can do other things and not stirred the sugar in and it has dissolve into solution on the Shelf so let's hope it does that for you too. By the way CA Paradis on Bank Street has potato Mashers with 2 ft long handles great save for arthritic hands.
8/18/23 love your video on canning grape juice… i suffer from arthritis , lupus and fibromyalgia so i feel ya with the pain after canning! anyway i was wondering can i make jelly later from this juice after it had been canned or is it just for drinking… which is also awsome!!.. i have aton of grapes not alot of freezer space so was wondering if i can do this and then make jelly later!! ❤️🙏
I have a bunch of grapes from my vines. And I'm making grape juice for the first time. Once you strain the juice, you should add the sugar before you put it into the jars, I think then you can do a taste test and get the right. Amount of sugar for your taste.
I'm getting ready to make grape juice concentrate. Thanks for the video. I'll be running my grapes through the juicer to make it go faster and easier. 🤗
I am from Sydney my name is Nirmala-an Indian was looking for grape juice after watching many videos I liked yours; I was blessed with 5kgs organic fruit from my garden your Gideon’s helped me thanks.Ihave aqeastion!how long should I boil the bottles😅please help this is my first time wenture😊
Boil the empty jars for at least 15 minutes. Once filled and in the canner process at boiling for 20 for pints 15 minutes for quarts. ONLY waterbath if you are adding sugar.
Sorry to see you in pain. Hope it gets better soon. I was wondering if their was a possibility the grape juice might ferment? I canned the pears off my tree yesterday and forgot the vinegar too. Thank you for the tip how to clean. I also didn't turn my lid upside down and had water all over the cooker. Another great tip. Why didn't I think of that? Your a star!! x
I hope you feel better by now Bev,hope you get a few days of rest before starting a new project but knowing you lol I know you want to get it done, there are probably a lot of recipes on youtube for grape juice and other recipes but I always check your channel because you tell the truth and admit if it,s good or bad.You did a great job !! Hugs :)
Love it! I was wondering if you stirred up that sugar...lol Did it come out like a rock? I already pulled all my grapes of the stems and am just going to wash them and put them in the jars and strain it later when I drink it. Thanks!!!
oh Mrs Volfie l love watching your video's,, question, l want to try this for the first time.. can you use a emulsion blender if you are going to stain it anyhoo.... just wondering. thanks in advance, also l am presuming you can use monk fruit sugar for diabetic reasons... thanks
Girl, where were you last year? Hubby brought me home a 5 gallon bucket of organic grapes last year from some abandoned grape vines he spotted when he was painting the house next door. I made preserves, but would have loved to have had some juice, had i only thought of it..........sigh. Oh well.
What kind of grapes are those? Flavor like concord? Many commercial grapes have a ubiquitous taste. Concords are intense and can only find them at a certain store for a short amount of time here in Houston. Noticed in past few years there is hybrid grape from Thompson/concord and the skins are not as tough and less seeds. But only available in a few particular stores.
Why cook them vs. juice them? Cooking it kills all the nutrients 😔. Trying to find out if I can water bath fresh juiced fruits. If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate it, thanks so much!
Thank you, Mrs. V! Been wanting to know how to do this. I am wondering gif you could do the same with orange juice? Cook and can the same way, or would you have to freeze it?
I know you don't drink soda and I don't drink it often, but boy I wish I had a quart of that and some club soda. I may just have to take a walk over to Borrelli Cellars and buy some concentrate.
Bev, I'm sure this has been suggested before, but I can't help myself from suggesting it anyway: Have you considered putting all that information in your head into a book? You're so full of information, practical and whatnot, that if you had someone sit with you and write the information down, you could self publish and sell on Etsy or whatnot. This whole grape juice thing has my mind blown. How many pounds of fruit have I thrown out through the years that could have been made into a juice that I would have loved, simply because I couldn't eat them in time before they went downhill!! Yikes.
Hi Bev sorry your in so much pain I have a friend who suffers with fibromyalgia she try's so hard to get rid of some weight to help but I understand that one of the symptoms of fibromyalgia is weight gain. May I ask a personal question? does your skin itch or feel like insects are crawling over you I never realised that some people who suffer with fibromyalgia can have itchy skin that won't let up and I have now been suffering with a constant itch on my back which feels tingly at the same time I also notice that on my left shoulder blade I get a really intense burning pain and stabbing pains but these only occur now and again. Do you think this could be the start of fibromyalgia or something else entirely. Have a nice rest for a few days
Burning is always a sign of nerve damage, as well as stabbing pain. I have had fibro, which I beat back using iodine, but I also have a ton of neuropathy. If you have burning you have neuropathy.
Watch your juice.. i did some wine a year. And look like the same receipe...and IT starter to fermented after 2 Days... I am sure IT is Georgius juice.... Watch your jars.....

Thanks for the walk thru! We just picked 30#’s of grapes today and will be using this recipe to can them up tomorrow. Thanks soo much
Thanks Bev you saved me, a friend brought over some grapes and I wasn't quite sure what to do with them. You always have the answer.
I just found you recently and love your shows. Hope your arthritis gets better. I'm glad you have a warm pool.
Thanks Mrs V. Hope you feel better. God Bless.
Thanks Mrs V. I hope & pray you feel better & have some relief soon💜

@@OurHalfAcreHomestead When you say it is concentrate does that mean you can drink it right from the jar or do you have to dilute?

Hope you're feeling better today!

I made hummingbird grape juice this year....loved it

Make us some jelly?
She has a video on making grape jelly from some she picked on a trellis above her son's front door.
