    One thing I wanted to add to your statements at the end, I remember having a journal when I was younger and absolutely TREASURING it and now I just don’t have that feeling of it being “special” because I have so many planners and journals and I can just buy more. I feel like doing no spend will help me to actually love and appreciate what I have for what it is if that makes sense.

      It makes perfect sense! I know _exactly_ what you mean, I still have my childhood journals because they were so precious to me. I'm so excited to get that feeling back this year and I hope it does the same for you ☺ Thank you so much for watching!

    You are definitely not the only one with so many notebooks 😅 and yes, I hope the community moves more towards intentional consumption and not always just haul videos 😅

      It's so interesting, because I actually really don't like haul videos, but I somehow still get drawn into buying all of the things 😅 I think we're definitely starting to see the community burning out on constant purchasing, though, and I'm actually really excited to approach planning from a place of intention this year! ☺

      @@kelleydoes The struggle is real... it's too easy to look up things online immediately to order 😅

      Especially how easy they make it to plug in everything with 1 click using the Shop app 😬 Lots of buying without thinking it through on my end... yikes!

    I'm glad to have come across this video because as someone who's both a student and a user of planners, I could certainly learn a thing or two about the tendency to overconsume when it is in our capacity. You're definitely right about that feeling of making the best out of things we had as a child, and even though I'm already in college, it still applies to me because I cannot afford to just buy stuff out of whim. You've probably put a lot of thoughts upon committing to this project, and I'd like you to know that it is possible. Using my personal experience as an example, for two consecutive years I bought the same type and brand of planner, it is a thick 400+ dotted pages and hardbound journal without any structure or dates, so I have a lot of freedom on how I'd use it. After a year, I was only able to fill half of it, yet I decided to buy another one because it didn't feel right to use it for the new year; but, I was determined to use it 'til it's full, so I decided that the other half will be used as a Reading Journal for an undefined time period. Like you, I made a rule, that until I had used (ideally filled it) I will not use or make another notebook a "Reading Journal." You might wonder what about the second one I bought? As I predicted, I was only able to fill half of it this year; and like the other one I have a plan for it, and that to use it as a new Reflections/Freewriting Log because I've decided not to re-buy the same type of journal and opted for one with more structure for the coming year. Despite losing the free pages, I now have a separate reason to use both old planners, and once they're filled, I could look back and see everything compiled in less than 5 planners, which is a win for both space and my bucks. Cheering you on this project!

      Your story is so inspiring! I've definitely put a lot of thought behind my lineup for this year and, while it comprises about 4 planners and 2 journals, each of them have the flexibility that I can change up how I use it without totally abandoning it for something else (e.g., Stalogy, Common Planner, etc.) I hope I am able to provide some ideas over the course of this project that are helpful to you, although you seem to have a pretty good handle of things already! Thank you so much for watching! 💕

    I decided to go this route too. Infact, I put my stalogy away (because it’s undated) and I pulled out an old EC hourly life planner and re-dated it and it will last me thru July of 2024. From there, I have 9 months of EC daily petite’s that I can re-date and probably a bazillion months of happy planner I can use lol. I’m over buying planners….now stickers, on the other hand….🤣

      @kelleydoes  7 месяцев назад +1

      I feel you on the stickers. SO. MUCH. FOMO. 😂 It's going to be hard to stay strong, but I'm determined! I also have probably 5 years worth of old Happy Planners I haven't used. If any company embodies the "Buy Everything!" mentality, it's Happy Planner! Good luck! 😆

    Thanks for sharing. I'm currently in the process of returning planners I bought for next year that I don't want just sitting around to confuse me a couple months into 2024 and am going to work with what I have/acquired at a low cost (i.e. gift card). Going to change my thought process to what else I could use money for when it's not going towards all the planners.

      I seriously commend you for returning planners. I'm the kind of person that just lets them sit gathering dust, totally forgotten 😂 And the money you get back might be a nice cushion for Christmas if you celebrate! Thanks for watching 💕

    Looks like many of us is truly feeling the same way Kelly. I have canceled two orders today and am looking to be firm on using the two planners I already have to be in 2024. I need to finish them before purchasing anything different till next Nov/Dec. I am looking forward to your journey also. ❤

    I do agree with you!! I saved long and hard to buy my first Hobonichis this year. But, wow!!! I know that people can do with their money whatever they like, but surely planner companies are to blame as well!!!!

    • @kelleydoes
      @kelleydoes  7 месяцев назад +1

      It's definitely tough, because a lot of these planner companies are just people in the planner community who want to sell something they would want for themselves. And the demand is definitely there! I think the market is just becoming so saturated that we can't balance our planner budget against all the shiny things made by people who are just like us!

    I've already got my planners for next year, but absolutely was planning something similar going forward. I have more than enough supplies to last me for 5 years or so (I know, ridiculous), and I was planning to not buy anymore supplies for at least 1 year!
    I also had a planner funk this year, mostly related to some work emotional trauma, but I'm now a homemaker with a diagnosed disability, so I'm hoping to use 2024 to really heal myself and make some health discoveries.

      That’s amazing! This year my whole system fell apart for a long time due to my health, but I was able to use that information this year to help figure out what I need to keep track of and what information needs to be prioritized on a low day. Feel free to pop into my IG DM’s or my comments sections with updates, I’d love to hear how it’s going! 💕

    For me if I’m not loving my current system I’m much more likely to want to buy something else. So if it were me, I’d probably rehome the inserts that you don’t like, even if it meant buying a couple of new ones that you know you like the paper of, and maybe that would help the urge to buy something new? Just a thought 😊

    • @kelleydoes
      @kelleydoes  7 месяцев назад

      My thoughts precisely, minus the rehoming! I plan to use those inserts when I need scratch paper ☺ Thanks for the comment and for watching!
