Actually, the character Black Bat predates Batman by 3 or 4 years, as he originally ran 1933 to 1934. He was briefly revived in 1939. DC made a deal with the guy, and he couldn't afford to legally fight DC anyway. And so, Black Bat is largely forgotten, although a low budget Black Bat movie was made a few years ago. Black Bat was a combination of Batman and Dr. Midnight sort of.
Fun trivia about Constantine, he started out as a bit of a trollish joke on Alan Moore. Steve explained it once when we used to drink weekly back around '08. Steve wanted to draw Sting, the singer, for reasons he couldn't even explain to me. Alan got upset, which led to Steve and John being motivated to keep drawing Sting into backgrounds. Eventually, being upset enough, Alan just made him a character to stop the madness. John Constantine, the character, was born out of how amused Steve and John were over Alan not liking seeing Sting in random panels of Swamp Thing.😂

Green Arrow did not make his live action debut in "Arrow." He was a prominent supporting character in "Smallville" a few years earlier. Good video, despite the few errors. Hope to see more.
Yeah, they have missed a tonne of actors who have depicted all the characters (they missed at least 2 previous Hawkmen, one of them in Smallville, depicted by that guy from Stargate, for example, they missed the both the actresses who played Black Canary in Arrow, and they missed the actor who played Constantine in the CW shows, he'd also voiced the character several times in animation, which seems to be a bit of a rude oversight).
Lobo is absolutely useless. He's a walking, talking, parody. Only a couple of writers seem to understand how be to write him correctly. Keep in mind what the character of Lobo was when he was first created is far different from the disaster he is today. A character made for morons.

Some missing/corrections: Matt Ryan played Constantine in various projects Forgot to mention that Jay Garrick is a real person in the DCU It’s not JAMIE, it JAIME for Blue Beetle Metamorpo is a founding member of the Outsiders, not the Justice League. Black Lightning had a live action tv show, played by Cress Williams. Hawkgirl also appeared in Legends of Tomorrow played by Ciara Renee. Steel was played by Nick Zano in Legends of Tomorrow
Considering so many different sources of media, this is incredibly well done. Everyone should watch the Justice League Unlimited animated series. Enjoyed this tons!
Normally I don't really like the animated translations of established comic books into animation... that being said, Justice League Unlimited was a superb-animated series... far more put together and consistent than even the individual works of the original source canon as well. My only complaint was that it was still written as a kids show but they did not make that the primary over-reaching limit, they worked extremely creatively with it and did allow character deaths to actually happen. I agree. Everyone should watch JLU.

Well, in Action Figures, my son has built a 27 member Justice League, with 8 Reserves, and not counting 6 Green Lantern's. And, like me, he doesn't count Cyborg; Cyborg is a Titan! We also don't count any other Titans or Justice Society members! Dick Greyson as Batman is in his Kingdom Come style Earth, working with Terry McInnis, Batman Beyond. If he added Titans, Green Lantern's, and JSA members he'd probably be at about 60. He also has a 74 different Avengers, 56 X-Men divided into 4 Teams, his Green Lantern Corps is 20, Titans 17 members, and Justice Society recently is 31!
Granted I started fading out during the last 20 minutes but I really like the overview of Justice League members. I may have missed it but I thought Obsidian, Atom Smasher's best friend was part of the Justice League? Actually I know he was. Obsidian even had a very minimal debut on Justice League Unlimited. Granted it was a non-speaking part.

They either have actual wings and are aided by the gravity defying Nth metal, or the Nth metal is more powerful and can actually lift them off the ground, and they use a wing like harness to allow them to fly.
I know it depends on the continuity, but isn't it usually an either/or situation for the Hawks in regards to their flight? The narrator says it's the Nth metal belt that allows Hawkgirl to fly, but then says it's because of her natural wings. Then with Hawkman, the narrator says the wings are also Nth, and therefore 100% artificial. I know it's nitpicking, but it would've been nice to make the distinction that it depends on the continuity on if the wings are organic or not. It might help people not familiar with the characters.

Superb origin story compilation. I grew up with all these heroes, and rediscovered them when I began writing my YA Fantasy novels about ten years ago. This vid is a must for anyone who loves superheroes. (We won't talk about Marvel here...).
@@panthertvchannel5921 To be fair, not all of the comic book characters were that well-known or lasted that long. Some were only in a few issues and never returned, mainly because they didn't resonate with the public. Or, they were backup characters that didn't contribute to the storyline. So, I can sort of understand why they were left out. There are about 10000 characters inn the DC Universe, so sticking with the most well-known ones makes sense.

It's a sad shame for the Justice League to go from 75 members at its height in popularity, to only end up with six members by the time of Batman Beyond.
And Maybe I'm no JL expert,unless it's been in more recent stories (cause I dropped out after the Grant Morrison/Howard Porter run) I know that at least 10 characters have not been JL. They Might've TEAMED with the JL ,but they Weren't Justice League. At least Two we're JSA (three if you count Atom Smasher). Loose Cannon?? who? Me might've been in a Superman arc ,but that doesn't make him Justice League. Gleek is JL but the Wonder Twins Aren't ? Also Super friends is not JLA ,if that were canon ,Wendy and Marvin would've been Justice League too. Among many others

You had the Justice Society and the Justice League. The Justice League is made of the world's best heroes operating in their prime. The Justice Society, by contrast, features elder superheroes who take it upon themselves to train younger, lesser-experienced heroes - usually relatives, descendants, or sidekicks working to inherit their mantles - for a long career.
From the start, I'm just waiting for the confirmation of the "Wonder Twins" who were part of the original "Justice League/Super Freinds" Saturday Morning Cartoons back in the early 1980s! there's a bit if a weird and funny history to hawkman, originally, he was a Thanagarian police officer, but then he came to earth and somewhere along the line he became Egyptian prince named Khufu, and he and Shiera were then killed but they professed their love and vowed to find each other in the next life, it is not really known how or why, but the egyption gods had them reborn as humans, demigods with Thanagarian traits such as the extendable wings strength ect. but through out history everytime they died they would be reborn and find each other again and again and they helped form the justice society then 80 years later they helped form the justice Legue, and a consistent part of hawkman in each lifetime is his desire to bring justice to those who would do unjust deeds with Shiera at his side and she would be at his side when they are reborn next

Batman, in canon, is a "normal human". But he's actually a low-key metahuman if you put any educated (even super-basic educated) thought into it. It is temporally and physically impossible for someone to develop like him. He has the advantages and none of the weaknesses of both a sprinter and a marathon runner, both a life-long scholar/detective/intellectual and physically trained master, both super humanly perceptive relative to training/life experience and having the omega-level skill of a devout researcher/desk jockey, he's both psychologically very paranoid and extremely trusting (fear vs. love BASE mental conflicts to the extreme), his willpower is godlike until it apparently randomly causes him to fall into his compulsions, no matter how badly he heals it's technically a mere complaint, and he's physically the best in body in the conflicting builds of power/flexibility/speed/agility/stamina for those top performances. And that's the basic, short list. Despite what canon SAYS, canon shows he ISN'T a "normal human", he's a subtle metahuman. Perhaps being perceived as a normal human is part of his superpower, while also being oxymoron-like perceived as superhuman as a faux superhuman. Oh, were you expecting me to nerd-vomit his plot armor? That's just basic face-farting pseudo-intellectual sophistry, all beloved protagonists have plot armor. ALL of them... until they don't. Only Marvel's Squirrel Girl apparently has plot armor as part of her metahuman ability. Oh, and those "Lucky" power Marvel characters... but that's not true plot armor. And you did not address EVERY Justice League member and affiliate (affiliate you included later). Let's not address the Black Adam thing and how others should be included in that, there's a major movie coming out and your including Black Adam was pretty much required. I'm just saying... either remove "(Every)" or change it to "(Most)" or "(Every Top)" or something. I mean, at one time, Lex Luthor was a Superman replacement. Likewise, I guess you dodged that for the same reason you dodged the other Superman and Batman replacements during their down-times. Only the first Green Lantern (Alan Scot/Scott) was magical, and he's completely separate from all the other Green Lanterns. If the Green Lanterns, Oa, and their home battery vanish suddenly, that OG Green Lantern's ring will still work... and its vulnerability isn't yellow, it's plant matter... which is why Grundy is so tough against him despite him being a magical swamp-plant animated DC version of an evil Hulk. Fun Fact, Watchmen's characters were inspired by DC characters. Dr. Manhattan is what A. M. saw as a more "realistic" version of what Captain Atom would become, mixing in the Atom and Atom Smasher as the only way someone would know how to recover from such a disintegration. A guy who hated comic book superheroes made some really awesome comic book superheroes... oh, the irony, is delightfully delicious.

I love the dc comics super heroes, Although I don’t buy any modern comics, I still collect them and back issues and things and I enjoy most of the movie should’ve already been made but I don’t really have any hope for future movies I’ve pretty much had to help beaten out of me

Steve wanted to draw Sting, the singer, for reasons he couldn't even explain to me. Alan got upset, which led to Steve and John being motivated to keep drawing Sting into backgrounds. Eventually, being upset enough, Alan just made him a character to stop the madness.
John Constantine, the character, was born out of how amused Steve and John were over Alan not liking seeing Sting in random panels of Swamp Thing.😂
The Donna Troy entry shows a lot of Young Justice Cassie Sandmarks footage. Also, wasn't Donna's Backstory later retconned so she be reborn again and again? That should be mentioned, I think.

Yeah, they have missed a tonne of actors who have depicted all the characters (they missed at least 2 previous Hawkmen, one of them in Smallville, depicted by that guy from Stargate, for example, they missed the both the actresses who played Black Canary in Arrow, and they missed the actor who played Constantine in the CW shows, he'd also voiced the character several times in animation, which seems to be a bit of a rude oversight).

Normally I don't really like the animated translations of established comic books into animation... that being said, Justice League Unlimited was a superb-animated series... far more put together and consistent than even the individual works of the original source canon as well. My only complaint was that it was still written as a kids show but they did not make that the primary over-reaching limit, they worked extremely creatively with it and did allow character deaths to actually happen.

Well, in Action Figures, my son has built a 27 member Justice League, with 8 Reserves, and not counting 6 Green Lantern's. And, like me, he doesn't count Cyborg; Cyborg is a Titan! We also don't count any other Titans or Justice Society members! Dick Greyson as Batman is in his Kingdom Come style Earth, working with Terry McInnis, Batman Beyond. If he added Titans, Green Lantern's, and JSA members he'd probably be at about 60. He also has a 74 different Avengers, 56 X-Men divided into 4 Teams, his Green Lantern Corps is 20, Titans 17 members, and Justice Society recently is 31!
At this point every major character at DC or Marvel has been a member of the FF, Avengers, JL or X-Men. 😁

I know it depends on the continuity, but isn't it usually an either/or situation for the Hawks in regards to their flight? The narrator says it's the Nth metal belt that allows Hawkgirl to fly, but then says it's because of her natural wings. Then with Hawkman, the narrator says the wings are also Nth, and therefore 100% artificial. I know it's nitpicking, but it would've been nice to make the distinction that it depends on the continuity on if the wings are organic or not. It might help people not familiar with the characters.

Superb origin story compilation. I grew up with all these heroes, and rediscovered them when I began writing my YA Fantasy novels about ten years ago. This vid is a must for anyone who loves superheroes. (We won't talk about Marvel here...).

Some were only in a few issues and never returned, mainly because they didn't resonate with the public. Or, they were backup characters that didn't contribute to the storyline. So, I can sort of understand why they were left out. There are about 10000 characters inn the DC Universe, so sticking with the most well-known ones makes sense.
Forgot about Vigilante, Shining Knight, Jonah Hex, Bat Lash, El Diablo, Pow Wow Smith, Question, Long Shadow, Zan, Jayna, Deadman, Cat Women, Swamp Thing, The Super Pets, Wildcat, Dove, Hawk, Stripe, Star-Spangle Kid, Blue Devil, B'Wana Beast, Metron, Mera, Warlord, Crimson Avenger and King Faraday. There are others, but those are the ones I can think of.

there's a bit if a weird and funny history to hawkman, originally, he was a Thanagarian police officer, but then he came to earth and somewhere along the line he became Egyptian prince named Khufu, and he and Shiera were then killed but they professed their love and vowed to find each other in the next life, it is not really known how or why, but the egyption gods had them reborn as humans, demigods with Thanagarian traits such as the extendable wings strength ect. but through out history everytime they died they would be reborn and find each other again and again and they helped form the justice society then 80 years later they helped form the justice Legue, and a consistent part of hawkman in each lifetime is his desire to bring justice to those who would do unjust deeds with Shiera at his side and she would be at his side when they are reborn next

Batman, in canon, is a "normal human". But he's actually a low-key metahuman if you put any educated (even super-basic educated) thought into it. It is temporally and physically impossible for someone to develop like him. He has the advantages and none of the weaknesses of both a sprinter and a marathon runner, both a life-long scholar/detective/intellectual and physically trained master, both super humanly perceptive relative to training/life experience and having the omega-level skill of a devout researcher/desk jockey, he's both psychologically very paranoid and extremely trusting (fear vs. love BASE mental conflicts to the extreme), his willpower is godlike until it apparently randomly causes him to fall into his compulsions, no matter how badly he heals it's technically a mere complaint, and he's physically the best in body in the conflicting builds of power/flexibility/speed/agility/stamina for those top performances. And that's the basic, short list. Despite what canon SAYS, canon shows he ISN'T a "normal human", he's a subtle metahuman. Perhaps being perceived as a normal human is part of his superpower, while also being oxymoron-like perceived as superhuman as a faux superhuman. Oh, were you expecting me to nerd-vomit his plot armor? That's just basic face-farting pseudo-intellectual sophistry, all beloved protagonists have plot armor. ALL of them... until they don't. Only Marvel's Squirrel Girl apparently has plot armor as part of her metahuman ability. Oh, and those "Lucky" power Marvel characters... but that's not true plot armor.
And you did not address EVERY Justice League member and affiliate (affiliate you included later). Let's not address the Black Adam thing and how others should be included in that, there's a major movie coming out and your including Black Adam was pretty much required. I'm just saying... either remove "(Every)" or change it to "(Most)" or "(Every Top)" or something. I mean, at one time, Lex Luthor was a Superman replacement. Likewise, I guess you dodged that for the same reason you dodged the other Superman and Batman replacements during their down-times.
Only the first Green Lantern (Alan Scot/Scott) was magical, and he's completely separate from all the other Green Lanterns. If the Green Lanterns, Oa, and their home battery vanish suddenly, that OG Green Lantern's ring will still work... and its vulnerability isn't yellow, it's plant matter... which is why Grundy is so tough against him despite him being a magical swamp-plant animated DC version of an evil Hulk.
Fun Fact, Watchmen's characters were inspired by DC characters. Dr. Manhattan is what A. M. saw as a more "realistic" version of what Captain Atom would become, mixing in the Atom and Atom Smasher as the only way someone would know how to recover from such a disintegration. A guy who hated comic book superheroes made some really awesome comic book superheroes... oh, the irony, is delightfully delicious.

He’s literally called a human with no powers almost everytime the justice league forms they all get scared and impressed that a regular human can do the things batman does kuz they had to become super to do what he does

I love the dc comics super heroes, Although I don’t buy any modern comics, I still collect them and back issues and things and I enjoy most of the movie should’ve already been made but I don’t really have any hope for future movies I’ve pretty much had to help beaten out of me

With the exception of Spider-Man, Captain America, and Thor ... (those three are God Tier, maybe even Hulk Iron-Man and the rest are -NOT-) ... the Avengers are generally "Second String Super Heroes" ... or even Anti-Heroes.
