    The fully maxed-out 14” MacBook Pro doesn’t perform as well as the 16” due to thermal throttling. So, if you’re going for the 14”, choose it with the Pro chip, and if you need the performance of the Max chip, the 16” is the better choice.

      that's interesting, i'll look more into that for the full review but it makes sense.

      yeah this also applies for the older chips, never get Max in the 14“

      The binned M4 Max has 2x the encoder and decoder engine, so it is going to be better for export times and timeline performance.

    • @khoifoto
      @khoifoto 2 месяца назад +4

      it depends on the needs. I don't often max out the CPU but my GPU and RAM is always maxed out. I do travel often these days so 14 inch is the best size. With those 2 points, I can live with 14 inch and 128GB M4 max.

    Great review. I haven't seen anyone review the binned max chip on a 14 yet. It's still very powerful, wow! idk if I'll be upgrading from my M1 Max anytime soon, though.

    I have the 16" unbinned M4 Max and I think I am going to return it. It just does not offer enough value compared to my unbinned M1 Max 14". performance differences are mostly indiscernible in most scenarios. I'm not a full time video or photo editor so a slightly longer processing time for cpu/gpu intensive tasks really isn't a big deal.

    Should I buy the MacBook Pro with 14” M4 Pro 24GB 512GB or the M4 Max 16” 36GB RAM 1TB? I also have 200GB iCloud for files too. I need it for beginners photo and video editing, programming, web browsing, watching RUclips videos, listening to music and podcasts with high quality audio interface and headphones amp. Maybe taking to university and cafes sometimes too.

    • @salvo_giangri
      @salvo_giangri 2 месяца назад +4

      Start by choosing which size you think fits the best for your usage: the 16" model has a bigger display and better speakers, battery and cooler, but it's heavier and less practical compared to the 14" model. I personally moved from a 2021 16" with M1 Pro 16 GB/512 GB to the same model reviewed in this video (2024 14" M4 Max 36 GB/1 TB) and I didn't regret this at all, the 14" is way more portable and having an extra RAM/storage is always good. Once you're sure about the size, go for the best configuration you can afford.

    • @oren_katz
      @oren_katz 2 месяца назад +1

      @ Yeah but I heard max chips with the smaller size of the M4 can get warm and have throttle. Maybe the max chip is overkill for me?
      Also, I debate between those 2 combos:
      M4 / M4 Pro Mac mini and iPad Air 11” cellular vs only one MacBook Pro 14” / 16” and maybe an iPad Mini 7 too.
      Want combo for both power house on the desk connected to an external monitor and also for university and for more taking and watching RUclips videos.
      And which specs of 14” vs 16”, m4 vs m4 pro, base vs better cores chip, 16gb vs 24gb ram, and 512gb vs 1tb ssd?

    Even I was thinking of upgrading to this from my 14' M1 Pro MacBook Pro.
    But, as a lot of people are saying, the Thermals and Fan Noise of this thing is giving massive old Intel MacBook vibes
    M4 Max in this chassis makes no sense now
    But the 16' is just too big and heavy to carry around.
    And the M4 and M4 Pro do not have a lot of difference when it comes to Raw Power.
    Bruh
    Maybe I should stick with my MacBook until next year, when a Design Refresh happens [and hopefully this stupid Notch goes away].
