I love how you said, "We don't worry about being fair." That's how my family did things and how I try to as well. What's fair is meeting the needs as needed. :)
Crying watching this after the sudden loss of Andrea. Such an amazingly beautiful Mum. Her kids are a testament to her, they really are sweet children.
I think Solomon was the happiest w/ his new clothes..I just love him when he thinks he has done something wrong and looks up at u w/ those big eyes as if to say;"I did not mean to"..How could u ever scold him????
You are so organized. I'm just one person, and can't keep that organized. In our family of 4 girls... I always remember my favorite times of the year were in the spring and the fall when we would bring the clothes down from the attic cedar closet, and look through and try on all the hand me downs. I always felt bad for my oldest sister because she never got any "new" clothes. I was always so proud to wear my sisters old clothes. It made me feel so proud.
Winter hauls are here on RUclips and it's nice to see how everyone else does things. I've just finished watching Jamerrill's haul, what a lot of bargains she found this time. Great that you have everyone in your house kitted out with all they need too. I love to see the pretty little things you pick out for the girl's. I've never seen a family that dresses like yours with the daily colours. Of course there may be some. But l think it's so nice to be unique!! 😊
Fun haul! I've got seven children (#8 is coming soon!) and I've been going back through your videos getting organizing ideas. Thanks for all the inspiration!!
I don't think you had to get as much this winter. That always helps on the budget. I liked your comment about not being fair; you get what you need. That is so true! We only need what we need. :)
actual the colour coding works well especial with the boys and keep prices down I have seen other large family's and a lot of space is taken up with clothing. the unisex snow clothes works well as it goes by size not gender and it will last more than one season so growing out of it becomes an issue, but you want warm clothes and trying to get a pink on a boy could be a problem, but unisex means you wear what fits and stay warm.
I love the shopping hauls! Makes me feel not so bad only buying for one, lol. Thankfully she is not a typical 16 year old girl who is into shopping so she is easy! Can't wait to find out what baby is!!!
Thanks for sharing! We are also a family of 10 and I keep thinking I need to majorly limit the amount of clothing my kids have.... things would be so much easier! Hmmm LOL! I recently had the kids be in charge of their laundry and that is helping a lot!
That is so good to know about the French Toast brand! I have considered ordering their polos for my kiddo’s uniforms and now I know they are worth it! I don’t suggest polos from Children’s Place. Love your videos and your sweet family Andrea!
I love those girls polos! You were in my top 5 youtubers this month! I love your channel. I am thinking of trying out a matching color system with our clothes too. I just like how it looks and it seems like it would just make things easier.
I'm pretty sure this video shows inside our coat closet: ruclips.net/video/MwERRqQz_oE/видео.html. Otherwise, you can search my channel for all of the bedroom tours and the attic tour to see how the rest of our clothes are stored.
im learning to sew..could you please do an easy sewing project? i would really appreciate it.you should have bought yourself something..you deserve it .
I love to watch these type of videos,to see how you get rid of what you don’t need anymore,I want to do the same with my kids clothes and throw/give out what doesn’t fit or isn’t good but I have realized that I’m a hoarder 😩 I keep everything,my closets are so cluttered and unorganized
I noticed this last year to. you get them all new shirts but always short sleeve lol is it because they just throw jackets on when they go out? My mom never bought me long sleeves either as a kid we always just had a outside hoodie or jacket but with my kids there always so dramatic about it being "cold" that I have to get them long sleeves and snow jackets to wear outside 😂 we live in California so you can imagine ho far from being cold enough for a snow jacket is but for some reason both my kids think there freezing so I just let them bundle up all they want while i stay in my shirt sleeves haha
Yes, our house is warm and if we go outside we wear jackets. Actually, you body adjusts, if you allow it. I wear flip flops all winter long unless I'm going to walk in deep snow or will be outside for a long time.
Our public school has a uniform dress code and i love the French Toast brand for my boys!!! I agree, they keep and wash so well!!! Love the video Andrea, such a great family!!
That was so interesting to watch! It's quite a campaign getting everything marked and put away. I'm curious about whether you hand clothes down from one child to the next? It seems not from the video. Also - did you get all Claudia's handiwork off the door?! I so enjoy seeing your lovely family.
She explained it before last year if the stuff is in good condition enough to hand down she will but as you can imagine boys are real rough with pants and socks etc
We hand down some things, but not a lot. Things I sew are handed down, snow clothes, dressy clothes, etc. Everyday clothes are thrown out or donated, if they're in good enough shape.
Our buddy teams are - Thomas, Justus, Sophia - Asher, Eden, Claudia - Judah, Solomon. Judah's happy that he'll finally have a 3-man buddy team once the new baby arrives.
If you look up our Small House Large Family Organization playlist, there are video tours of each bedroom in the house, including inside each of the closets. The attic tour shows off season clothes storage. My office tour shows inside our coat closet.
How do you keep the socks separated by person? I know everyone was excited to get new clothes. How do you keep from losing gloves and hats etc? Socks work good for gloves sometimes- lol
I mark the socks just like I do the rest of the clothes. I think I may have showed that in the fall clothes video from 2016, but I'm not sure. The boys each have a bin on a shelf in their closet where they keep their socks. The girls have plastic drawers in their closet. My office tour video shows inside our coat closet and how we store the kids' snow clothes, gloves, etc.
Love seeing all the kiddos new clothes ! Love how organized you are and how sweet the kids help without complaining ! :0) Cant wait till Saturday ! I know y’all are excited ! Love you guys Xxxxx kiM
I'm new to your Channel and I enjoy your vlogs. I don't understand why all the children have to wear the same color each day especially the older children. It seems kind of hard not having some individuality. Do you allow them to pick out their own clothing or is that something you make them wear?
How many outfits do you think/find that each child needs, I know that younger children may need more because they need to bewashed more. I find it hard balance I seem to hav too many clothes(laundry) or too little clothing
We wear 13 colors so most of the kids have 13 shirts and/or dresses. My littlest guys usually have twice as many jeans/skirts as the big kids and an extra shirt or two, just in case. It's a fairly arbitrary number. Since we wear our colors in rotation, I didn't want to have 14 colors because we'd end up wearing the same clothes on the same day of the week which I thought might be weird. (People at the library might start to think we only had 2 outfits if we always wore the same two things on Wednesdays!)
Sarah G, we only have six kids 12 years and under but I use the same idea. Our clothing stock is 10 play outfits per season, 4 nice outfits (jeans and polos for boys, dresses for girls), 3 pajamas, 10 socks and underwear. Each persons laundry is washed once/week.
During the summer I wear pink when the boys where maroon... too cute. The French Toast lasts a long time and so does the brand School Bells. I volunteer at the school uniform swap shop and I agree about the quality, wear, and differences about the Walmart Brands.
I'm curious Andrea, what kind of heat do you guys have? You have only short sleeved tops even in winter and I know it gets cold where you live. I live in the northeast and our house is over 100 years old so not the tightest and our oil heat is so expensive so I try not to haveit too high. We would be freezing if we wore short sleeves.
Mom Of4 de answered this one twice last year but actually no they never complain her kids don't really mind it at all there use to it and they just don't care
Quick question it looks like each of your child got new shirts but if you are using the same colors for same days the older ones shirts and jeans be passed down to the next size? Or are they too worn that I know boys are usually harder on things than girls usually. I have two girls and my youngest only gets new clothes when she's outgrown the one she currently has an right now she's a little bit of a bigger size that her older sister she has a bit wider hips but they actually wear but the same size shirts and pants for most of the time so the hand-me-downs have sort of stopped except what her sister doesn't want anything anymore
The boys usually wear a shirt for 2 years; by the end of that time I'd rather donate any that we can and throw out the really stained or worn out ones. We don't buy expensive things and I set money aside in savings to make sure it's there when we need it. I've got nothing at all against hand-me-downs; it's just my preference to get everyone fresh, new soft clothes to wear. We do keep jeans that are in good shape to hand down as well as dress clothes and snow clothes.
Andrea Mills thanks for answering I was just thinking because I have two girls that are 19 months apart and I would purposely buy a few new things for my youngest she always seem to get her sisters hand-me-downs or hand-me-downs from friends and family . But now they are in the ladies small sometimes medium that it's hard to do any hand-me-downs and they don't like sharing right now if I had a sister that was the same size closest me I would love to share because then I'd have twice as much close LOL but they want their own individuality . I get a lot of our clothes from thrift stores and Walmart and from the free groups . My kids have freakishly small seat that my youngest is turning 15 has size 2 winter boots
Those are small feet! I never got to share clothes with any of my sisters; I'm 6, 9 and 12 years older than all of them. I _did_ want to share with my mom- at least her shoes. I only got to wear her shoes for about 6 months before I outgrew them. She was a size 6 and I'm an 8.5/9. I was so disappointed when that happened. :) I think it's probably easier to hand things down, too, if there are a lot more items overall. Each thing probably gets less wear and tear than our kids' clothes do.
Yup her sister is 16.5 and in size 4/5 LOL. Abby got new boots last year size 2 as she put holes in her size 1's that she had for 2 winters and the size 2 boots are still big LOL. Her dress shoes for choir are size 2/3 and a bit big LOL I'm a size 9 but wide. You are way more organized with 8 kids then I am with my 2 :)
We're okay! We had the ultrasound 2 days ago, but it's been so busy this is the first time I've sat down to my computer since Friday. I'm going to finish editing the video I was already working on and try to get that one up today. Hopefully I'll get the ultrasound vlog up tomorrow.
Andrea, I've been trying to get closer to god and not just believe in him but have me learn, understand, pray, and have him in my daily life. I know you are not soposed to live in fear but i have anxiety and insecurity problems and it's really hard. I don't know what to do any advice would help.
I think everyone struggles at some point in life with fear, anxiety and insecurity. When I was 18, I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. I actually think the whole thing was overblown; I was just going through a very difficult time. My best method for dealing with fear is to walk through it. I used to be afraid of what would happen if Tom died. (His own father died in his early 30s which is why I think I felt overly concerned about it.) One day I just "lived" it. I imagined a police officer coming to the door and telling me Tom had died. I imagined what I'd do once I closed the door. I imagined what I'd do in the following days planning a funeral, dealing with my grief, dealing with the children, etc. Then I imagined what I'd do beyond that- how I'd support us financially and all of that. It totally relieved me of that fear. Of course, it would be devastating if something happened to Tom, but the thought isn't as captivating to my mind as it was before. This has been a common ritual for our family if we're fearful or anxious about something. I helped my niece with it, too. She was starting high school in a new school and was very anxious about her first day. I asked her what thought kept playing through her mind that was her worst-case scenario. She said tripping in the hallway and falling down in front of everyone would be so mortifying. We walked through what she'd do in that moment after it happened and on through to the end of the day. It totally took the power out of her fear. There's a concept in the New Testament of taking every thought captive to Christ. When we let our thoughts run away with us in a panic, we start to feel like everything's out of control. Reminding ourselves that God is always in control and He's with us even in our worst moments and _we can handle it_ is the key. Then visualizing _how_ we'll handle it calms those thoughts and stops them from running away with us. The purpose of your life is to be trained in this physical world to become the person God wants you to be in your spirit. Training someone is also called disciplining them. Discipline or training isn't pleasant. It means we're going to go through difficult things- we _have_ to. It's just like physical exercise; if there's never any stress, there isn't any growth. Going through difficulties isn't a sign you've done something wrong. It's training. Peace comes when you learn how to accept it and deal with it and don't worry about trying to stop it or control it.
We were only replacing things that needed replaced; this isn't our entire wardrobe. The boys never wear pajamas anymore. (Solomon has a pair that he puts on once in awhile.) The girls each have two sets. I know some people wash pajamas each time their worn, but to me that's overkill. I've taught the kids to wear pajamas and jeans several times between washings unless they're obviously dirty. We do one load of laundry a day and, theoretically, anything that's put in the wash should be ready to wear again in two days. Realistically, the kids don't always do the laundry correctly and sometimes we have a crisis where things aren't getting back into circulation in a timely manner.
I've always loved your system(s) with this stuff, but it just occurred to me: When you pass clothes down, what do you do about marking them, since the next person down will have a different color?
We don't usually pass things down. If something is in good enough condition, we donate it. Otherwise we throw things away. I do save the girls' dresses that I've made, but the styles are always a little different so I don't need to mark them.
No, we don't usually mark those. Sometimes I use colored safety pins, but since they don't go through the wash that frequently it's not as much of a hassle remembering what belongs to who. The kids put their winter things away in their own bins and they stay sorted. We do mark coats and jackets, but we donate those and everyone gets new every couple of years.
It amazes me how organized you are. Each child is so helpful. Blessings
I just love your gentle ways with your kids. You knew your calling from a young child. I love your family and your videos. Thanks for sharing.
@the mills family I had no idea about the dots on the tags what a great idea, so smart!! I'm still learning stuff from her everyday.
Soloman makes my heart happy! He's so cute!
I think Solomon was the happiest w/ his new clothes..I just love him when he thinks he has done something wrong and looks up at u w/ those big eyes as if to say;"I did not mean to"..How could u ever scold him????
Mildred Lane such a precious soul. Praying for this beautiful family as they grieve the loss of their Mum.
A room full of happiness! A joy to watch!!!
You are so organized. I'm just one person, and can't keep that organized. In our family of 4 girls... Solomon is such a sweet little boy! He always looks so concerned 😂
I️ love how eager Solomon is to help! He’s so precious. Eden is also super helpful. Loved the haul!
I absolutely love how Sophia said “handsome,” she is the sweetest!
Organization is the key. You rock!
When my daughter was little I always took tshirts and add a ruffle to them to make a dress. Cheap but cute.
You’re such a wonderful mother. I’m inspired by your organization.
I always have trouble finding denim skirts now, glad you mentioned some sites, I never thought of Amazon. You mam are glowing!
The girls polo was very cute with the little feminine details the flower buttons were cute!

Sophia saying “handsome” is my favorite thing ever
You are so missed
This video shows the love of a mom. She is so organized and patient. Makes my heart break to think mom is no longer there! 😭
Oh my gosh...I was watching some of the older videos from when Eden was around Sophia’s age, and they look so much alike!!
I don't think you had to get as much this winter. That always helps on the budget. I liked your comment about not being fair; you get what you need. That is so true! We only need what we need. :)
I miss Andrea
I love that girls polo! I had to wear a polo shirt everyday when I was in school I wish I had a cute one like that!
actual the colour coding works well especial with the boys and keep prices down I have seen other large family's and a lot of space is taken up with clothing. the unisex snow clothes works well as it goes by size not gender and it will last more than one season so growing out of it becomes an issue, but you want warm clothes and trying to get a pink on a boy could be a problem, but unisex means you wear what fits and stay warm.
Your system makes sense to me everyone always has the things they need
I love the shopping hauls! Makes me feel not so bad only buying for one, lol. Thankfully she is not a typical 16 year old girl who is into shopping so she is easy! Can't wait to find out what baby is!!!
Thank you for letting us know where you find your skirts, and the polos. We have had the same problem with the Walmart ones.
Love, love, love you guys Andrea. You rock sister. That was fun to watch. I appreciate you.
You should write a pregnancy & parenting book 😁 I would definitely buy it
Edit: & a book on organization. Lol
Thanks for the video! I really enjoy everything you upload!
❤️ your clothing hauls!! Thanks for sharing!
You have such a beautiful family
Great Haul Andrea! I just did mine for my family of 9 😉 I bought the same pink fox pajamas for my girls, they love them 😊
I love your clothing haul videos! I wish I could have a big family like you!
Thanks for sharing! We are also a family of 10 and I keep thinking I need to majorly limit the amount of clothing my kids have.... things would be so much easier! Hmmm LOL! I recently had the kids be in charge of their laundry and that is helping a lot!
yay! Just the right thing before I go to sleep
You rock!!
That is so good to know about the French Toast brand! I have considered ordering their polos for my kiddo’s uniforms and now I know they are worth it! I don’t suggest polos from Children’s Place. Love your videos and your sweet family Andrea!
Amazing. Can you show the system with the binder clip hanging up.
I'm pretty sure I showed the inside of the coat closet in this video: ruclips.net/video/MwERRqQz_oE/видео.html
That yellow would be a nice addition to the color wheel! Have you guys ever considered other colors?
I must have missed this one when it originally came out couldn’t find a comment from me.lol
I love those girls polos! You were in my top 5 youtubers this month! I love your channel. I am thinking of trying out a matching color system with our clothes too. I just like how it looks and it seems like it would just make things easier.
Thank you so much for including me! Matching clothes builds such a feeling of camaraderie.
Andrea Mills oh my gosh, thanks for replying! Made my night. You're the best!
I would love to see how you organize their clothes as well as how you organize the clothes with there out door wear

I absolutely love your shop with me videos. When will you be posting another? Love from the UK 😚😚😚
I always go to Walmart on the last Wednesday of the month.
Can't wait 😉

Our public school has a uniform dress code and i love the French Toast brand for my boys!!! I agree, they keep and wash so well!!! Love the video Andrea, such a great family!!
I was more surprised seeing your hair up in the end of the video
Will we ever find our what happened to Thomas' underwear after skiing, since Andrea mentioned "they would never be the same again"? :O
That was so interesting to watch! It's quite a campaign getting everything marked and put away. I'm curious about whether you hand clothes down from one child to the next? It seems not from the video. Also - did you get all Claudia's handiwork off the door?! I so enjoy seeing your lovely family.

Our buddy teams are - Thomas, Justus, Sophia - Asher, Eden, Claudia - Judah, Solomon. Judah's happy that he'll finally have a 3-man buddy team once the new baby arrives.
Can you do a video on how you do the closet organization
If you look up our Small House Large Family Organization playlist, there are video tours of each bedroom in the house, including inside each of the closets. The attic tour shows off season clothes storage. My office tour shows inside our coat closet.
Equal is everyone gets the same amount
Fair is everyone gets what they need
Fair is impartial,and without favouritism
How do you keep the socks separated by person? I know everyone was excited to get new clothes. How do you keep from losing gloves and hats etc? Socks work good for gloves sometimes- lol
I mark the socks just like I do the rest of the clothes. I think I may have showed that in the fall clothes video from 2016, but I'm not sure. Love seeing all the kiddos new clothes ! Love how organized you are and how sweet the kids help without complaining ! :0)
Cant wait till Saturday ! I know y’all are excited ! Love you guys Xxxxx kiM
Thank you; we _are_ excited!
I think some pretty lace sewn on the girls shirts would be pretty.
I'm new to your Channel and I enjoy your vlogs. I don't understand why all the children have to wear the same color each day especially the older children. It seems kind of hard not having some individuality. Do you allow them to pick out their own clothing or is that something you make them wear?
Yes, they're allowed to wear what they want, but we like matching. There's a video in the playlist linked at the end that explains how it got started.
What about any print t-shirts design?
I'm sure this has been done/said but how many of each clothing item does each kid have? Girl and Boy.
Nice video

Sarah G, we only have six kids 12 years and under but I use the same idea. Our clothing stock is 10 play outfits per season, 4 nice outfits (jeans and polos for boys, dresses for girls), 3 pajamas, 10 socks and underwear. Each persons laundry is washed once/week.
If you don't mind me asking ..on average how much do you spend every 6 months on clothes?
I try to set aside $150 a month in savings to spend on clothes, so $900 every six months. I don't have an exact amount of what we spend, though.
How do they do with the short sleeve in the winter ?
You are missed
During the summer I wear pink when the boys where maroon... too cute. The French Toast lasts a long time and so does the brand School Bells. I volunteer at the school uniform swap shop and I agree about the quality, wear, and differences about the Walmart Brands.

We have a gas furnace/air conditioning.
Do your boys ever complain about wearing the same color shirts?
Mom Of4 de answered this one twice last year but actually no they never complain her kids don't really mind it at all there use to it and they just don't care
They were just asked that during the Live Stream the other night. It was unanimous that we all like to match.
I think she equates it with them being on the same team, just like team members wear matching uniforms.
Quick question it looks like each of your child got new shirts but if you are using the same colors for same days the older ones shirts and jeans be passed down to the next size? What happened to vloging ultrasound? Are you okay is the baby?
We're okay! We had the ultrasound 2 days ago, but it's been so busy this is the first time I've sat down to my computer since Friday. I'm going to finish editing the video I was already working on and try to get that one up today. Hopefully I'll get the ultrasound vlog up tomorrow.

@@TheMillsFamilyVlog Tom please read this reply by Andrea and maybe keep it for the kids to read later when needed.
Thanks, I already knew she had done this, but the words at the end brought tears again, thanks.
Lord I neeeeeeed you in my house to help get me straight.
Was wondering why your family wears the same color each day? No judgement here just curious!
I have a video on my popular uploads playlist explaining how that got started.
Why does all boys have wear same color on same day.
Do your kids have more clothes than you showed in this haul? How do they get along with only two pairs of pajamas.
When your a family of 10 you always are doing laundry so they get cleaned pretty often
Lieu Hazelwood all the boys have 13 shirts and 2 pair of jeans

I've always loved your system(s) with this stuff, but it just occurred to me: When you pass clothes down, what do you do about marking them, since the next person down will have a different color?
We don't usually pass things down. If something is in good enough condition, we donate it. Otherwise we throw things away. I do save the girls' dresses that I've made, but the styles are always a little different so I don't need to mark them.
Right, but coats and snow boots and things like that, which you mentioned getting from the attic? Are those not marked?
No, we don't usually mark those. Sometimes I use colored safety pins, but since they don't go through the wash that frequently it's not as much of a hassle remembering what belongs to who. The kids put their winter things away in their own bins and they stay sorted. We do mark coats and jackets, but we donate those and everyone gets new every couple of years.
Ah, I see. Cool. Thanks for the explanation! :-)
