      @Capitalist Pig I don't understand... There are roughly 60 millions Americans registered with the Democratic party.
      To put things into perspective:
      •620,000 Americans died during the Civil War;
      •Covid-19 has killed a little over 5 million people worldwide to this day;
      •About 11 million people were killed in the Holocaust.
      But here you just casually state that 60 million people should be killed, and I wonder...
      Do you genuinely want them all killed, or do you just think it's funny to pretend you do?

    • @jsnrvst
      @jsnrvst 2 года назад +1

      @Capitalist Pig So.... Most of them?
      You know that there are very, very few avowed communists in the United States, and most of them do not even like the Democratic party, right? It's not left-wing enough to their taste.
      So basically you went from "kill all Democrats" to "the few Democrats who are also communists".
      I suspect you didn't really think this through. I even wonder if you even know what communists actually stand for...

    • @jsnrvst
      @jsnrvst 2 года назад +1

      @Capitalist Pig Oh tell me how you really feel...
      "Not human", "vermin to be exterminated"... So much hate.
      Why do you hate them so much? I mean, you specifically call out for COMMUNISTS to be exterminated. Not fascists, not white supremacists, not neo-nazis. Communists. What have American communists done that was so bad they deserve to be killed?

    • @jsnrvst
      @jsnrvst 2 года назад +1

      @Capitalist Pig This level of ignorance is frightening, though not at all surprising in the current climate of disinformation.
      "White supremacists are racists so I lump them in with communist's good point." You still haven't answered my most basic of questions: what is it that you think American communists stand for? What have they done to make you hate them so much?
      "fact of the matter is a genocide IS going to occur. The Communists in the Democratic party would kill patriots wholesale if they could so it's a matter of us vs them." The only one I see calling for genocide is YOU. Let's focus on why YOU think genocide is warranted. No deflecting, no projecting.
      "why else do they want to seize guns and are pro lockdown." A lot to unpack here. They don't want to "seize guns". They want more rigorous background checks. It is currently easier to get a job than a driver's license. And they are pretty open about why they want more rigorous background checks: because there is an epidemic of gun violence in the USA.
      As for being "pro-lockdown", again they are very forthright about their reasons: to slow the spread of infection from covid. Notice that no Democrat is currently calling for a lockdown, they are calling for people to get vaccinated and wear masks when not able to do social distancing. Any Democrat would tell you this is only until covid is under control. It's not a political ideology, it's just following the science.
      "Look at Kenosha, those evil "people" that attacked Kyle Rittenhouse, one was a pedophile, the other a serial wife beater. they were not hesitating at would have executed the kid if he did not respond." So at Kenosha there was a protest because a white police officer shot a black guy. This, of course, doesn't bother you in the slightest, you probably assume the guy had it coming. Nevertheless, people were getting angry about this and started protesting. Then we got Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17 year old guy who opposed the protest, but instead of letting the police deal with it, decided to take an AR-15 and join a group of vigilantes to allegedly "protect businesses". One might think he went into those streets with a semi-automatic rifle because he was spoiling for a fight. (Maybe he wanted to kill some Democrats?)
      Then he heard a gunshot, and turned towards an unarmed man who was following him. That man then tried to disarm him, and Rittenhouse shot him. He shot an unarmed man who only attacked him because he was armed. Then a crowd of a dozen people chased him down a street, also because they wanted to disarm the young maniac with a gun. Rittenhouse then shot another unarmed man (unless you consider a skateboard a weapon) and finally he shot a third man who did point a handgun at him.
      Rittenhouse got acquitted, because, well, he WAS defending himself after all. The people he shot WERE attacking him (albeit non-lethally) But the whole mess could have been avoided if he'd just stayed home, or left without a gun, or simply tried de-escalation instead of a shoot-first mentality. One victim being a pedophile and the other being a domestic abuser is immaterial. Rittenhouse did not know about these things, and if he had killed them for it he would have been charged with murder.
      "That is the average democrat activist at that point." You know, I'm starting to think the problem is you don't know any Democrats. You've built this strawman in your mind of the evil, communist, Democrat and you are focusing all your hate in this pure fabrication. No wonder you think Democrats aren't human. You need to get your head out of whatever echo chamber you've been buried for I don't know how long. Talk to a few actual Democrats without threatening to kill them. Find out what they really believe.
      If you'd like to keep this discussion going, here are the questions I'd like you to answer:
      1) What do you think is the basis of Communist thought/ideology? In just a few words.
      2) What is your ideology? I'm both interested in the label you would use (conservative? libertarian?) and how you would define your ideology.
      3) What do you think of other countries like Canada, the UK, Australia, other European countries, who generally have stricter gun control laws and single-payer healthcare? Are they all communist?
      4) how do you know all the things you know (or think you know)? Where do you get your news/information? How do you know whether that information is trustworthy?
      5) do you still believe in democracy, as in, the people should choose their leaders? Would you prefer to have a country run by a right-wing dictator who took over by military coup, or by a left-wing President who simply got a majority of the popular vote?
      6) I assume you are strongly supportive of the police, hate Black Lives Matter (you probably think they are racist and communist), but also you seem to be strongly in favor of vigilantism? You are apparently a-ok with 17-year-olds patrolling the streets with a semi-automatic rifle and a chip on their shoulder... Why don't you simply trust the police to handle the policing if you think they are doing such a good job?

      Yes, but that's the point of a fictional show with a particular viewpoint. They are going to write it and act it so their view is shown to be the better one 99% of the time. For me, that doesn't take away from the top-notch writing and acting. I found this an amazingly entertaining show.

      Sorkin has explained that he wanted to essentially re-run the Bush/Gore debates with Ritchie as a stand-in for Bush, in order to challenge the notion that appearing “too smart” is a liability-i.e. that “nobody likes the smartest kid in the class”.

      @IdliAmin_TheLastKingofSambar 3 года назад +33

      @@tyranusfan I get what you’re saying, but ironically, that’s exactly Aaron’s point. Ritchie is a threat precisely BECAUSE he’s an empty shirt. Early on, Toby and the President are the only ones who understand this, but everyone else gets it pretty quickly. CJ worries that Ritchie benefits from low expectations: “I feel like if, and only if, Ritchie accidentally lights his podium on fire does the President have a fighting chance.” Josh, like most Democrats, are concerned that Ritchie’s sound-bite style of speaking will be an appealing contrast to a lot of voters: “Most people weren’t the smartest kid in the class. Most people didn’t like the smartest kid in the class.” Meanwhile, Toby refers to Ritchie as a “hairdo from Florida” while constantly fretting about Pres. Bartlet trying to be folksy and plain-spoken, rather than the “heavyweight” with a fierce intellect that he is. He marvels at how Ritchie gets huge applause from utterly incoherent lines, and notes that the demystification of the presidency has made voters think that anyone can do the job, and so the only way to expose Ritchie’s empty-shirtedness as disqualifying is for Pres. Bartlet to come out onto the debate stage in his smarty-pants, guns blazing.

    I love this series with all my heart, but with all these questions about racial profiling, the one black cast member gets two reaction shots and the one black woman extra stands in the background, while all the white people debate around them... not a good look.

      It looks fine. The one thing we're figuring out more and more as time goes on is that you can't fix institutionalized racism without the people known to be inherently racist at the debate. Charlie isn't a character that informs on policy, as a character. And the extra was, well... an extra

      @@AudioArcturia Yeah, I know. But it would've been just that much stronger if a black person got to voice an opinion on the matter. Granted, it was 15 years ago, and it's still better than most of the rhetoric we use today. We live and we learn.

      @@Vesperitis It also was not the point, the point was as Toby said, "Fundamentally, what was the story with Rooker?", President Barlett already stated his position on his stance on racial profiling, which is that he is against it. There was no reason for to force a scene like that because ultimately it wasn't really about the racial profiling itself, its about being loosely tied to a person that is. All the people in charge of communications, press, polling, and a member of the senate were offering suggestions or commenting, as it should be.
      Basically as Toby said following Josh's suggestion is to skip the nominee and make it about their law enforcement stance instead of the Attorney General Nominee, "That's not going to be the question."
