I really wanted to like the Legacy more and I know they can't use the Viper design anymore but the car mode just kills it for me, original all the way. Outside of Haslab Omega Prime, I've been pretty underwhelmed with the RiD 01 updates; guess it's hard to improve when the original line was and is still so good.
I got the Legacy version and I love it. I had the original back in the day and it was my favorite toy so that’s probably why. It’s my official desk bot now. And you can complete the light saber look with a blast effect and it looks badass.
I've had both the blue and red versions of the original toys since new. Glorious vehicle modes but awful transformations. I think I maybe transformed the blue one to robot and back once, and I don't think the red one has ever seen robot mode.
I straight up skipped this one and bought the original. The Legacy toy is so... *not good.* They didn't do _anything_ for Side Burn other than swap the head and colours, it's shameful. So we've got a bad Shadow Striker that was compromised to make a bad Side Burn.

I feel the same, I'm hoping they at least do Skybyte right.
They could have easily done a made-up, knock-off car design, like they've done for most of the other car modes that have ever come out after G1.

Great review as always! I already have Shadowstriker and prefer the colors on that one. But still tempted to pick this one up.
