I appreciate the video of the procedure itself. I'm about to do my third round of egg retrieval (for freezing), and I was curious what the part where I'm unconscious looks like. Obviously they can't show all the details, but I had never seen what the needle implement looked like or how it looked on the ultrasound screen, so I appreciated being able to see that. Maybe this is strange, but I actually enjoyed the egg retrieval procedure the last two times. The team at my hospital was very attentive and made me feel well taken care of, like in this video. There's also a very specific time window when the retrieval needs to happen, so I found it a bit exciting -- kind of a countdown to egg time (and no concern about having to wait longer than expected!) Personally I felt very little discomfort afterward, no worse than mild period cramps, and the grogginess from the anesthesia wore off quickly.
The patient seems excited and relaxed. I was wondering how she managed to sit like that on the chair, crossing her legs. I swear I couldn't sit like that. And 2 days before my retrieval, I just wanted the eggs out already. My lower abdomen was so heavy. Finally, 25 eggs were retrieved, of which 22 were mature. It probably explains why I was feeling the way I was.
very informative...thank u team for such a clear vedio actually I worried about ivf egg retrieval...but after seeing that lady smiling got some strength to do it..
2:28 I like how after this, they immediately cut to the woman drinking something. "We have the egg fluid," and then you just cut to her drinking water.
For the men they showed all female staff and for this they had male nurses. Why? Can't you assign male nurses to the men and female to women? This is a rough thing to go through anyway so why not give some modesty and dignity to the patient?
I completely agree. The window was facing the women spreading her legs. And that man had a nice view of the privates. What a disgusting setup. No consideration whatsoever for the women's privacy and dignity.
If you are uncomfortable with a male nurse in most places you are free to request a woman. But as a nurse, all patients are patients. All we care about is maintaining the health of each and every one, regardless of their gender.
