It's for the first time seeing Dan talk more than Ty & more open. Amazing interview skills, questions & u are well researched. I like how you also balance tv adaptation & books. I'm looking forward to their next sci fi & Dan's fantasy series. Dan's Long Price quartet is one of the most ambitious fantasy series ever. Thank you
Definitely found a good balance.
I was worried going in that Ty would do all the talking.
I would die for a GRRM interview
why?
@@newhorizon3229
It would be interesting to hear him talk about The Expanse.
@@alanpennie8013 yeah, you're not getting the ending for ASOIF out of him, but at least her him talk about expanse, especially as a former sci fi writer.
Especially if he tells George what Daniel and Ty said about spending 20 years writing and rewriting one book!
"you guys where cranking out a book a year, thats crazy!"
Brandon Sanderson: first time?
Fantastic interview!! The box analogy at 56:48 really hit home for me as a recovering perfectionist.
you kinda sound like the game of thrones abridged guy
Michio Pa in the third book is described as having an Earther's height despite being a belter. When I read that I immediately thought to myself, "If she's that short and a belter, she likely has dwarfism."
I wonder if that was a nod to GRRM's character Pinto.
I'm so glad you got the chance to talk to them! I loved this. You do a great job at encouraging the conversation while allowing them to have the chance to speak and elaborate on things. Loved this.
As a young writer, I'm eating this up. Thanks for the interview.
Ditto
Finally! I have waited so long!
Great interview and great interviewees. Thank you!
Loved watching this, going right on to part 2
this is amazing 😍 thank you James and Shifty x
this was awesome, thanks for sharing the podcast with us!
I didn’t recognize Daniel at first with that shaved head. Lol
Now I have to finish Tiamat's Wrath so I can listen to part 2
This was an amazing interview, subbed!
Great podcast! Thanks!
my favourite thing is revisiting something i loved when i was younger *and it still holds up*. i still love it, but from a different perspective. i shows me i grew but this work still holds up. feels so good to appreciate a new aspect of it
i learned so much about creating from Ty Frank, be it writing books or about how tv shows are created and how its a lot of cogs working together to make it great, both here and in his own podcast. I have such a new appreciation about all the work that goes into the expanse, but at the same time he never infringes upon fan interpretations of the story like some other authors do. I appreciate this man a lot
I'd love to hear an interview with Jefferson Mays and talk about his process. He's increidible not only with the variety of voices and accents he gives the characters but his female voices are amazing and I forget that a guy is reading it. His Avasarala and Anna with her Russian accent are golden.
This was SO GOOD
This was a big help as an aspiring author. Great work 👍🏻

ITS HERE
Wow, it's my first podcast with ASX, and my favourite topic, the Expanse. Loved the chillaxed vibe and comfortable mood to let Daniel and Ty speak freely and without interruption, asking second questions whenever they hinted something interesting. Now I know Ty's favourite SciFi is Lord of the Light, and a new book/novellas coming out, soon. Definitely checking them out. :)
Great podcast.
Cool to see this
Love this
Yes Jefferson Mays who reads the audiobooks is fantastic!
Love that somebody else has read the Lessing's science fiction, still 20 years later i find strange food for thought in it...
Absolutely loved this! Can you share the moment in the series that Daniel referenced that fans didn’t like?
He didn't say. I wonder if it might've been the sexual assault of Julie Mao
@@AltShiftXPodcast I’d love to know
@@AltShiftXPodcast i don’t remember that
@@rossegDoesMC i wonder i he's referring to the kiss at the end of S1. Some folks didn't care for that moment as compared to the books. Ty mentions it in his podcast with Wes.
Maybe the climax of Babylon's Ashes.
In the words of James Delos
'Bout time.
In the words of James Delos
It's awfully fucking pretty.
I love the books, and very much like the show. I need the last book like right NOW!
Edit: I need all the books not yet out like right NOW!
Oh boy here I go shifting again
What was the bad decision Daniel mentioned at 15:30?
We have to wonder if at 55:50, when Ty talks about people who spent the last 20 years rewriting the same book, if they're talking about George RR Martin. Maybe not 20, but certainly over 10 now. If only George had taken their advice....
Daniel: "There is a point at which a project is overcooked, and you have been with it too long."
Could he give George this advice? ;-)
So what was the decision that was wrong
stopping with calling those who disagree and argue "as*holes" is the first step towards disagreeing without killing
You think the stopping words is the first step because you find violence a logical conclusion to them. Severing a false equivalence between your ego, your words and violence is the first and only necessary step.
@@cmdrmiketv2698 yeah, you know what, if you ever will be working on some A.I. you tell your A.I. that and program it like that, but don't be surprised when it becomes THE SKYNET
as someone who has used reddit for 10 years, he is right.
With regard to the trainwreck which was the GOT final season I think the explanation is that D&D were good writers but lousy show runners since they didn't have enough experience with TV.
If you're going to tie things up decently you need someone with decades of experience like Naren
And Mark and Hawk.
Pinton Vortando. Belter dwarf. Ofc.. Ofc.. We should not have expected less.
Thought there'd be a face reveal
But, where are the podcasts? All I can find are the RUclips versions.
There's a link in the video description
@@ShubertReads Thank you!
came for alt shift x face reveal
Feeling sad...
Wtf is that goo Ty is drinking?!! :o
Still no ASX face reveal?? 😫
