When it comes to career success, it’s not about WHAT you know, it’s about WHO you know
Not always.
Agreed its so competitive nowadays that it's no longer a meritocracy but also the relationships you have
It's not who you know, it's how you know them.
Not to become a doctor

These are the kind of people I need to be relating with.
Greedy elites won’t want the same unfortunately
these people are fucking insufferable

Helping the wealthy get out of paying taxes is very lucrative.
thats not what IB is
@@ykx777 it’s the same thing in the end, helping the rich get richer and the poor get poorer
The rich already pay most of the taxes. Also tax accounting pays shit

The average GPA is supposed to be a 2.0 but now it's like a 3.2 probably. So if 3.7 isn't really worth what it used to be
Yeah, even at top universities have grade inflation.
@@qazmko22yes, one of the many perks of an elite institution is that they will do everything to help you graduate with a “high” gpa
How is that possible? Are GPAs not curved in American universities?
I mean at a school like Columbia where most people got in with a near 4.0 id imagine that number to be higher
@@qazmko22Top universities lead the inflation...
loll i do bsc financial economics its soo much work in first year
"Leverage your connections" is such a posh way of saying "my daddy's chums will give me a job. I haven't studied in four years. I'm just here for the coke and beer!"

Very true. Networking is the same as nepotism.
Believe it or not, these guy work and study extremely hard to get where they're at. The discipline of high level athletes and high level students is actually incredible.

Actually it's probably one of the highest paying jobs depending on your skill with finances and Market stuff as far as humans that we really don't need that don't do any good we would be a lot better off as a race without finances
So wrong at so many level
Finances run the economy and without the economy, we would have a feudal system where the rich stay rich and the middle class and poor work for their rulers like slaves and hope they don't get killed because the king is mad.

Without the financial industry 100% of companies out there are insolvent. A company can be very profitable but bankrupt at the same time. If you don't know why then it's better to acknowledge the role of financiers.
No college, went to elevator trade school and making $200k a year with no debt.
Yes but the pay ceiling is non-existent in finance whereas it’s relatively low in most trades and other high paying industries like medicine and law.

If financial econ is a Ba youre dreaming if you can get in investment banking lol
False. I work in analytics at a bank and a lot of the inv / corp banking interns had BAs in econ/ finance
@@aw_shucks17please expand. What major gets you the best shot at investment banking?
The primary recruitment entry point for investment banking is through undergraduate programs. In this case, a student pursuing financial economics at an Ivy League institution, located less than 10 miles from Wall Street, will likely find securing an entry-level analyst position to be... Pretty easy.
@@faresmarzouk3742 I am an economics major at Columbia about to graduate, and I don't know a single person in banking, or almost anyone that successfully got employment from Columbia, except for a few people with wealthy families that got them jobs. Securing an internship is actually literally impossible for most, not just figuratively, but literally impossible, because there are so many stipulations, and sometimes 10,000 applications or more per position. I'm struggling even to find an entry level government job, and I've got a 3.5 and maximum veteran's preference. Every undergraduate level job has PhD and masters degree candidates applying.
You can major in History and go into investment banking if you go to an Ivy League like Columbia lol
Josh is beautiful 😍 too young tho 😅

Investment banking = do nothing and get paid 200k right out of school. Might even do less work than the consultants who whine about how hard their 25 hour work weeks are
What ??😂😂 I work as a consultant and work around 50 hours, the higher ranks basically all day. In IB you work even more hours, a GS survey showed that analyst worked over 90 hours per week.
you are probably a STEM major shitting on business careers bro IB is one of the most tough and high workload career avg investment banker works about 70-95 hours a week
@@Steve-hr1fo I do analytics so kinda both lol I was just joking about the IB part. Not about the consultants though
@@TheLiquidChicken69Analytics isn’t “both”, what are you talking about? The only thing that IB and Analytics have in common it’s that they’re analysis heavy (or number crunching) roles, but besides that they’re extremely different.
I worked in Investment Banking and pivoted to Analytics in big tech and I can tell you for a fact that Analytics is nothing compared to banking. I was working 80 hours on the regular on IB and I moved out of IB precisely because of the hours. The job was interesting and I was learning a lot but the hours were killing me.
@@koolrocker12it depends on how you define what analysis heavy means. I am a quant at a fund. None of those seem to be close to any analytical work 😂

"Job markets sorta tight now" means salary offers would go UP. Wow, he sure DOESN'T know economics!
If you are familiar with the industry you would know that he meant that getting a job is more competitive right now. Because more people are looking towards investment banking, the salary offers will go down.
When people say the job market is tight it means there are few roles open
