I'm a junior economics student in my BSc... I don't like math at all, I was not good at it at all before I chose Economics, nonetheless I'm the winner of my scholarship and one of those TOP-15 students at my university (probably number 1) the thing is you do not have to be good at math to study Economics, You should be good at math to understand some concepts of it, and you can surely learn it after your choice of Economics.
I mean yes you would understand the basic economic theory with out math but all the useful stuff is heavy on mathematics but luckily most economics students do not experience this until grad school.
I like the quote from Kaynes on what does it mean to be a (master) economist: “The master-economist must possess a rare combination of gifts .... He must be mathematician, historian, statesman, philosopher-in some degree. He must understand symbols and speak in words. He must contemplate the particular, in terms of the general, and touch abstract and concrete in the same flight of thought. He must study the present in the light of the past for the purposes of the future. No part of man's nature or his institutions must be entirely outside his regard. He must be purposeful and disinterested in a simultaneous mood, as aloof and incorruptible as an artist, yet sometimes as near to earth as a politician.” I'm not sure if it's helpful when you're choosing your degree, but it inspired me when I was beginning my journey with the subject, it shows how wide the area really is and how much room for development you can find there. Btw I'll be a freshman at the double bachelor econ&econometrics at EUR this year, so potentially see you soon!
I have alot of respect for people who pursue a career in economics because about 3 years ago I asked myself this very question and 3 years later I found myself asking the same question. Depends at what level you studied econometrics. At lower and even upper level undergraduate it’s difficulty level ranges from easy to moderately challenging but at PhD level is basically like taking an PhD probability and statistics theory course and it requires a lot of advance linear algebra.
I can’t join pure Econ at my uni, which is in foreign for not enough preparation time for Maths. But I am reading PPE now, majoring economics. Just trying to cope with Econ myself (PPE doesn’t not enough Econ, ik) even thou it can’t be compared with pure economics students.
I am a PhD in economics professor educated in the UK and USA. First in economics, you need to clearly comprehend major theories, second, you might have some level of mathematical skills when you study Keynesian economics. Third, applying economics theories into real lives is important and required to figure out solutions for social issues and economic policies. Also, when you go for higher degrees, you might decide either microeconomics, macroeconomics, or development economics, or others is suitable for you. I studied Business Economics for an undergraduate program, Development Economics at the University of Sussex in England, and PhD at the University of Sheffield in the UK. Economics can be boring and interesting depending on how your lectures or professors take initiative but usually the economics subject limits their abilities due to its theoretical depths. Anyway, good luck to my Econ students. Any questions regarding economics, you can leave some comments. Good luck again to you all🤞.

Thank you for this video!! I’m currently picking between engineering or economics, and it’s a really hard choice for me because I have a great passion for both English and mathematics. I thought Econ might be a good blend of the two. In econ, do you do a lot of statistics? Because in that case I feel like data analysis would render it kind of dry for me. Or is there also calculus? That’s one of my favourite concepts in math. And is there a lot of history in economics? That’s one of the few subjects in school I never got my head around haha😅 thanks!
I watched this video a year ago when i was still in 11th grade and has ZERO interest on econ. Now, i still have a no interest but got accepted at my state university and is contemplating whether to take econ or not.
Girl, why did you just describe me to the T. I never considered studying Economics until recently, because I‘m struggling in my Informatics degree.
I did Master in Economics and Econometrics and Microeconomics really kill me. I just somehow managed to complete my Master but i really like Political Economics
Wow...
I will definitely apply for Economics.
Econometrics was one of my favorite courses studying concepts like regression models
I know people who'd kill for your pov😂
Depends at what level you studied econometrics. At lower and even upper level undergraduate it’s difficulty level ranges from easy to moderately challenging but at PhD level is basically like taking an PhD probability and statistics theory course and it requires a lot of advance linear algebra.
3:40 and if you like Excel
I can’t join pure Econ at my uni, which is in foreign for not enough preparation time for Maths. But I am reading PPE now, majoring economics. Just trying to cope with Econ myself (PPE doesn’t not enough Econ, ik) even thou it can’t be compared with pure economics students.
should I study economics if i want to be an entrepreneur?
Sir ...tnx for your information...sir I have a question ..if I will go china for my bachelor's degree ...is it good for me or not...I am chosing international economics and trade. But I am also confused international economics and trade best or international business...

She Speaks Words
My economics teacher once said
“Economics is your wife, maths is like ur in laws. U have to tolerate your in laws if u want a happy marriage”
Hi! Can you please make a comparison between IBA and IBEB?
i like learning about social behaviour and sciences but im not great at algebra so should i take economics as my majors
1st year in master's of econ and watching this :,)
i like this vid! it's enlightening
I'm 23 and a athlete. I want a degree. I always liked Science and Math
an* athlete
@@belle3055 thanks
Economics is exciting
Im currently in my last year of highschool, I honestly don’t know what to do cus im just not interested in anything. I chose the commerce field and the subject that stood out to me the most is economics. I enjoy studying it amd i grasp the concepts pretty quickly. I did enough research but i haven’t picked maths as a subject and my last grade which was in 10th grade was terrible. Do universities ask for a maths mark?
caraca caí nesse vídeo aqui pq passei em economia e levei um susto quando vi a bandeira do brasil lá no fundo
See you had me in most of them but i am not interested in people but in objects and how they're made :) i am struggling out here for my situation
Great video thank you so much.
Tbh this are skills necessary in all business majors
Statistics, econometrics, calculus, lineer algebra, mathematical economics, international economy, monetary theory, inancial accounting... These are all very mathematic based classes . U need advanced skills to deal with 4-5 of these. Please don't choose economics if u are good at math
Gary Stevenson has become my hero; What are your thoughts on him? (pay no attention to the hero part when answering honestly...haa)
Thank you 😊 💖 . Very helpful video
Actually I am not good at math, should I study economics🌚
What an engaging video. Well done. What are you doing now?
AAAAA fui pesquisar no insta e vi que tu tem alguma coisa com o Brasil, não sei se tu é daqui mas eu sabia, senti um ar de brasileira kkkkkk
I know for sure Econ isn’t something I would major in. I took that class in high school and I really hated it.
