Funny that RDJ was not the first choice they had. Iron Man was planned to be portraied by Tom Cruise. He denied, because he thought that those films about "Comic Books" wouldnt had an Impact. :D And there were many other first planned Choices, like Joaquin Phoenixx as Doc Strange and so on

I’m so happy for this guy. I’m old enough to remember when this guy was in a really bad place and it’s so great to see that he transcended it all and is now happy and healthy. Also, if you’ve never seen Chaplin, it’s one of the best movies of all time.
There's a scene where he's changing into his Chaplin outfit for the first time, taking a long time to come out of the trailer because he's trying to think it up in the moment, and Dan Ackroyd says "what is he doing, trying on armor?" Think about that ;)

This was RDJ in peak popularity as Tony Stark.
Right out of the first Avengers, when he was already recognisable enough to be associated to Iron Man, and when his character was still the best thing ever in an MCU that was still relatively small.
When the character was seemingly immortal and his path was full of unexplored possibilities.
A number of years later, he still is the best. But after watching Endgame, you can't help just feeling nostalgic.
I mean, he’s still in the peak.

But it is undeniable that the sense of awe, of utter joy for seeing Tony Stark on the big screen, and that almost endless sense of "comfort" of being promised to see him for the longest time possible, as if he was an everlasting character, is now over.
After watching endgame, there is a sense of "ending", of a swan-song portrayal that might have been very much intended, but is very contradictory to the idea of these characters.
@@thestarkknightreturns In Far From Home every time Happy, Peter or anyone else talked about Ironman it felt genuine. Knowing his role is over hits hard. RBJ can look back at Chaplin, Sherlock and Tony Stark and feel there are "peak" performances. He deserved an Oscar for Chaplin, he played the most famous and iconic detective in fiction in Holmes and played his most beloved character in Ironman. I feel he had several peaks but I agree with you, 2012 must have been the best year of his life, he lead the MCU through the most risky phase and ended it with a bang, he has to feel nostalgic about it. That's exactly when he became the MVP of the most successful cinematic franchise ever.
The Stark Knight Returns if Stark ever comes back to life I will be heavily disappointed. Flash backs are the only way it could work, as Endgame would be a worthless movie if he gets revived
