    Was needing to replace the seals in mine and stumbled on this video while looking for another issue. Thank you for the well detailed visuals.

    Just did this on a '12 259B3. As far as removing the universal joint, take off the metal rod that the handle bolts through by loosening up the nut and threading it off. The the universal joint will come off via the hex key (8mm IRC). This avoids damaging the universal joint with the big screwdriver.

  • @originalAtreyu

    What was the reason for the repair?
    My cat 226 just lost power to the loader, lifting only . I can lift it but it immediately falls down. No oil leaks,
    I'm thinking a stuck top of piston like you replaced

    Right @ 14:00 you remove the spring and smaller plunger which go inside the silver bullet. The unit I am working on 2007 236B, only has springs on 2 of 4. on direction and speed stick. CAT diagram for Valve Group Pilot 299-9119 does not show them. Are they necessary, I don't see what they add to function as the silver bullet actuates the plunger without it. Does it provide a preload on the plunger? Doesn't really feel like it does.
    I'm wondering if CAT removed them when the PN changed, since some old PN are noted "replaced".

      @DMtec101  Год назад

      Could've done. I have seen that on a 90s case loader and it didn't have any silver bullets and still works. So your probably right.

    Thanks for the video. I replaced the poppets and now I can’t seem to figure out the boots. How do they stay in place? I try to tuck them into the base but it won’t stay

    • @ropnjessi
      @ropnjessi 3 месяца назад

      Yes use a large zip tie around the base, make sure all the rubber is tucked in.

    • @DMtec101
      @DMtec101  3 месяца назад

      Sometimes they suck to keep them down, if you get a zip tie and rap the bottom of the boot with 2 of them you can suck them in and down, i do that with older machines.

    Have you replaced the pins or added shims on the main light arm? My arms move side to side but can’t find any info on fixing or adding shims. It’s almost like no one wants to show how to work on these things.

    • @DMtec101
      @DMtec101  Год назад +2

      Ya I know what you mean, I use big bolt washers the pin size are 40mm. So I use 1.5in diameter blot washers. I find mine at a hardware store. I hope that helps

      The older B models had some problems with the pilot valves and cat made an up dated pilot valves to replace the original ones because of that issue, I just ordered some for a guy on a 226B and the they where in the ballpark of $1,500 per each side, but the bucket control on the right side might be a little cheaper.

      @@DMtec101Hey brother, my 06 236 b when it’s cold the bucket didn’t hold pressure, it goes down, i think when hydraulic oil warms up, fix the problem, do you have any idea what’s the problem? thank you!

    • @DMtec101
      @DMtec101  Год назад +1

      It sounds to me like it could be the seals on the piston of the hydraulic ram rod are probably bad and when its cold the oil moves around the tube and piston, the heat of the hydraulic oil can cause the seals on piston to swell. But also if there is a sticking valve where it's in the main valve body or the hand control valve the heat will cause the steel to expand and allow the movement of the valve. Dose the hydraulic rams that are having the problem have any leaks where the rod slides into the tube? And if it has a fluid coming out around the rod, my guess is it's the seals. But it could also be bolth.
