My personal theory on Phantom Stranger has always been that he was created at the moment of multiversal creation within the DC multiverse. The reason is stupid but straight forward. The actual name of the character is THE Phantom Stranger giving him a definite article as part of his name that implies he is a singular point within the multiverse able to visit other universes at will. He's a point of neutrality between creation and destruction, life and death, ebb and flow, order and chaos, matter and antimatter, and good and evil. While his actions may seem good within the current confines of the multiverse they may actually be creating a future fulcrum to balance the multiverse rather than inherently good or evil. It's the old "Even a pebble can make ripples in an ocean" analogy. The overall view I have is that The Presence within the DC multiverse created him, hence the Abrahamic interpretation of his origin so often, to act as its eyes, ears, and hands amongst the multitudes of universes and world with the command to always be a stranger if he must interfere.
I had a thought that he could be the presence wanting to play dress up and this is why he holds back, kind of like how lucifer got tired of heaven and went to earth the presense got bored and decided done the same

Ever since I kept learning about him, his counterpart the Spectre and the endless family along with studying the many hauntings upon our world outside the comics. I been starting to have myself back to the beliefs of the polish catholic side of my family tree and started to have a belief in god and the two worlds of the dead related to the theology. And as one who is a fan of the Phantom Stranger I am hopeful he could be in more pieces of media for the coming future!

He's been a Fallen Angel, Cain from Cain and Able, Judas Iscariot serving eternal penance, Cain from Cain and Able.The Good Samaritan. It goes on and on. Personally I like the origin to be completely nebulous, a mysterious dutiful Anomlous Accountant , a Karmic Cop and Interdimensional Investigator he's just there at the right time and place arranging all the elements dynamically for the desired outcome and to Balance The Books and record and correct The Discrepancy. No one can remember him or describe him. After all he will always be a Stranger.
These origin videos are great, but every time I watch one all I can hear is the ascending background noise that constantly repeats itself about every two seconds, and I cannot tune it out. Maybe it’s just me 😅
The phantom stranger would be perfect to link the Snyder verse with the current DCU, but most likely they're not going to do that. This would give a chance for the actors from the previous universe to still continue in a multi-verse fashion.😊

Long before Constantine hit the scenes, I was fascinated with Stranger's enigmatic character. In a late '70's JLA story, a demon demands knowledge on the Stranger's secrets from a lord of hell. But the latter says, "You have not earned the right to know". Later, I came to view TPS from a mythical lens similar to the way shamans only honor not only the unknown, but the unknowable. For me, that's the Stranger.
I love his backstory and its origins I think I have all his four issues covers story during the 80s as a kid somewhere in the basement a box full of comics

A part of me thinks Earl from "My Name Is Earl" would be fun as a redneck Phantom Stranger, going where his list tells him to go and help whoever is on his list.He wears a trucker hat and an untucked flannel shirt instead of the usual Phantom Stranger outfit. He still drives his El Camino but it's powered by the Lords of Order. And yes he still has his moustache.
