    It's not something that they're hoping to BE something to sell to clothing retailers, that's actually the wrong direction. That's actually how it STARTED. It was marketed as something that could be sent to people looking to buy high-end, custom-tailored clothing, without having to go to a tailor. It failed, but tons of people kept contacting them and encouraging them to re-purpose it as a ftiness product. And here we are.

    For the purposes of ensuring information shared in this video is valid, and converse to certain comments, the accuracy of my DEXA scan is validated against hydrostatic weighing, and a secondary DEXA scan. Both coming in an agreeable 13% body fat. I have an extensive history in validating my body fat solely in an effort to test against devices for review purposes. Differing opinions from clinical testing are purely speculative, and anecdotal against industry consensus.
    I utilize my research experience in BioChemistry and Patent Law to use objective data for comparison purposes. Thanks for watching!

    I think what i’ve realized is this suit heavily uses your shoulder to waist ratio for bodyfat calculations. Since you are on the larger side of this ratio at the time of your test, it bumped your bodyfat higher.

    Got my Zozofit recently. Numbers were fairly in line w/ the Navy method for body fat %. Waist (naval) & smallest part of neck are key.
    Zozofit now also measures your neck. Navy method is sensitive to this (should be smallest part of your neck).
    If you’re off by 0.5-1 inches on the neck, the body fat % could swing 1-2%. Tried using tape measure to validate.
    I also have a eufy smart scale. It seems to be overstating body fat % by around +1% vs Zozofit & Navy method.
    That said, Zozofit is also great to track your arm, chest, thigh, calf etc sizes. Might want to get bigger on these etc.

    Tbh my dude, your waist of 35.6" by itself indicates higher than 14% bodyfat. Looking at your six pack definition as well , you are closer to 19% too. Basically, if you are close to me in height of 5 11, I would say I'm 29 inch at 8% bodyfat. Every inch is about 6-7lbs fat. You're about 40-45lbs away from 8% or lower bodyfat.
    Dexascans have been shown to be inaccurate as well. It seems some places aren't calibrated correctly.
    Having more muscle mass hides the bodyfat, I'll bet bodyfat calipers will also indicate that as well.

    • @WesJH
      @WesJH  Год назад +3

      I’ve had numerous separate tests done, and never once exceeded 16% at my heaviest in the past 6 years. This is untrue.

      I'd have to agree with you. Def looks more towards that 19ish percent. Even judging myself at 6'2 196lbs I'm at around 22% body fat and my build is similar to his. I have a little later or fat on the low ab, love handles and lower back, the usual culprits.

    • @DerekVerLee
      @DerekVerLee Год назад

      Both numbers confirm what we can see visually, above 10 and under 20, looks great. Do we really even have a way of measuring an absolute number without error? The absolute number probably matters less then if it's consistent enough to show change in practice. If you don't like the math it's using you can take the measurements it gives you and do your own math. Making tracking those measurements on say a weekly or even monthly basis a bit easier (and more likely to actually happen) would be the reason to get this thing I would think, not it's opinion on your body fat.

    • @WesJH
      @WesJH  Год назад +1

      @@DerekVerLee Depends on your goals. For me, I'm someone who is training for a marathon and eventually an ironman. Bodyfat % is important in evaluating the weight of "extra" bodyfat to carry around for the mileage.
      19% is far from accurate, as I've done, as research for my channel, every "gold standard" and "most accurate" clinical body fat test.

    I got mine last week, and the app says it's using the US Navy calculator.

    • @WesJH
      @WesJH  Год назад +3

      I've gone through the US Navy MEPS (entrance physical), and they had to measure my neck because of my BMI. Neck to waist is the US Navy BF measurement, and that calculation puts me around 14%, which I state in the video. I reached out to ZoZo fit to ask why the body fat calculation is off, and they said they're looking into it.

    • @kenfreeman8888
      @kenfreeman8888 Год назад +1

      @@WesJH That makes sense. Something is off. The company's FAQ states: "A new feature to the ZOZOFIT app had been added that calculates body fat percentage based on the methodology from the U.S. Navy." But it's no longer mentioned on the app. And if it's measuring or calculating incorrectly, it's not going to get the right percentage.
      The original version of the ZoZo suit was designed for buying clothing online, and it used to include neck measurements on the app, so I was wondering if it measured the neck but didn't report it on the new app.
      I like mine, at least to measure some of my progress. But hopefully they'll fine-tune it to get more accurate numbers.
