I really could have used this a few weeks ago when I had to do this for my journalism class. Great video none the less though!
Thank you for the behind-the-scenes look Ginny! I now have an even greater appreciation for the amount of effort that you and other creators put into producing your videos. 👍
your voice is soothing 🥺
Great work as always! This really makes the whole process way less intimidating
I’ve been wanting to film some music videos for over a year but keep putting it off. This just gave me a lot of motivation!
You were one of the reasons I started to making CMVs. Thank you so much for making this video! I can’t wait to use these tips to improve my work in the future 💜💜
Your videos are always amazing! So awesome to hear about what you use and what’s easily accessible to everyone. Thank you!
Lots of love & respect for you ❤ Keep making good videos like these videos , I'm hear to support you 🙏🏻😀
Ginny, I wanted to thank you for all the advice you’re sharing with us: I found very helpful and reassuring. You inspired me to start recording cosplay videos, something I’ve been dreaming of doing for a very long time!!! I ordered a few items from your list of recommendations, hopefully that will help you out somehow. Thank you so much for being willing to help others, it truly means a lot!!! 🌈✨🌸
Thank you for this! With lockdown in Australia making life so hard, and a record company I am working with asking for some kind of video, doing it myself is the only option! I'm smart and capable enough to do it but needed to get pointers. Thanks so much
Very helpful and inspiring! I hope to try and make my own music video someday, so thanks for the tips, tricks, and ideas!
Thanks, I want to cover some music videos for years and already have some ideas what
I want to do but not how.
So, thanks Ginny!
Wow, I had no idea how much work it takes to make these videos. You really do amazing work.
laying out a spreadsheet of the shots you film is a really good idea. thanks for all the tips!!
Ginny, excellent explanation. Thank You.
Thank you so much for this and all the great work you do!
Great pointers! Thanks.
I'm planning to do some covers (and original songs) eventually. So the tips for the recording portion of music was very helpful. Thank you, Ginny. :)

Wasn't it? (Hey! 😊)
@@MagicallyMusical It really was. 😄 (Hi, it's neat to see you again).
Thank you for your tips! It has made my COVID age solo videos more productive!
You are a good teacher
You're such a professional Ginny Di... 😃
I really needed this! THANK YOU
This was such a great video!! I wish that I had this info a few months ago, when I was helping a friend with their music video. It would have turned out so much better! Maybe I can convince them to let me try again, now that I know better lol
Thanks Ginny!!
Super helpful!! Thank you for making this!!
Thanks for this, I'm an amateur singer from the UK, I do covers mainly, I've done Anything for a while, I just can't seem to get stuff done, but this is cool.thankyou.
awesome as always it's always a great video from Ginny di
You are literally a goddess. Thank you so much for this video!!!!!!!!!!
Oohh this works really well as a checklist, I always forget something when I make big videos like this 😅
Great video, thankyou
Really great video! Some of these tips were also super helpful for photo shoots too ^_^
I LOVE the video - great list of what to expect. For me... I need more info on how to set up the music source (Boombox, let's say) to play the song that I'm going to sing along with in the video and how that set up looks like (More detail the better as I overthink and run aground - ha) so if you have (I'll look at more of your videos for this How To) or if you can do one on this part alone... but SO excited! Thank you Ginny Di! - Ken in Hawaii
Amazing tips! Solved my problems instantly! Thank you!🥰👍🏽😄🙏🏽
Awesome video. Thanks for the info.
lol before watching this video, i already used the blue yeti, and audacity! I can confidently say that these are excellent options if you have a budget but want some professional quality. As for software, audacity should have all you need, unless you are an audio engineer, I would stick with audacity, its simplicity makes it a great choice for all. When using the blue yeti, distance yourself from the mic a bit, as if you get too close the bass tends to get very aggressive. Pls like this comment if it helped you so others can see it.
Great vid Ginny💋
I really enjoyed this video and found it helpful for videos in general, I was considering starting my own RUclips channel. [I know it's not easy and it probably takes more work than raising twins] but anyway you seem like you're fun to hangout with. My question is: What do you do for fun?
This helps me so much! Thank you. :)
Happy to help!!
Thanks Ginny
Hey Ginny! I like your tutorial, it was very helpful. Shoulda tuned in a year ago . LOL Jon Boy
Hi Ginny, great instructions. My one question that's hard to find an answer to. I have recorded many high quality songs with an excellent small studio setup (avail on SC, RN, Bandcamp). I want to record video of me lip syncing those songs, with headphones on and a mic in front of me like a studio setting, or casual settings within my home. I'll be using an editing system like the Adobe you mentioned. Do I just lip sync my songs at the mic and then somehow sync the video with the music in the editing software? Is there a provision for that? Since I'm using the actual recording to lip sync to, would that automatically happen once you've lined up the two tracks? Please advise...thanks!
You can sing 🔥
Thank you! The audio stuff specifically is really helpful to me, as is the re-shoot advice.
Thanks for your teachings. And I am from. INDIA
underrated video
It just came out so I don't even know if you could call it overrated or underrated lmao 🖤😹
I love this! Great succinct video on the process and solid advice on what to avoid or what to look for. Thanks so much for this!
I'm using samson Q2
Davinci resolve is free on PC & Mac. You can colour grade, special effects, sound etc.
Blender is a great free option for editing. It's main focus is 3D modeling but the video editor is better than movie maker
Regarding the lighting, do you recommend something picked up at an actual photography store, or is it something I can find on Amazon?
I’m planning on making videos of Wargaming, and need some lighting for that. I’m wondering if the softboxes/umbrellas like you have in your application will also suit my needs.
Where you purchase the lighting is irrelevant, Amazon has pretty much everything that you could get at most stores. I bought my lighting equipment online.
Your hair is to awsme i love it
Do you have any advice on filming a shot to appear to be a low light environment without compromising video quality like happens when you just film a low light environment?
I’m wanting to do a music video for a song about Vax offering himself to the Raven Queen which takes place mostly in the Sunken Tomb, which is not exactly a well lit location.
Sounds like you're looking for "day for night" techniques! That keyword phrase should help you find the resources you're looking for.
Thank you!
This is why I love this community!!
Can u share tips and tricks on how to shoot rap music videos.
Can't believe I've been watching you make videos for 8 years
THAT!! IS PRETTY WILD! Thank you for sticking around!!
Do you have any suggestions for free software on a phone that works well?
I've filmed all of my own lesson videos but have never done my own music video. You gave me lots of helpful tips without all the BS I found on other how-to videos. Thanks!
Comments:
New hair!!
Me:
I don't need any of this. But it's a Ginny Di video so fuck yeah I'm watching it!
Also you got new hair! Love it!
Just temporarily green so I can match Christmas color schemes! It'll be back to turquoise after Christmas!
Do u use instruments for your background music?
This is a really great how to video! One thing I never thought about was that you’d want the camera to be able to hear the prerecorded audio to help with editing. Also, now I need to go back and rewatch a bunch of your music videos because they’re stuck in my head now :)
Hey Ginny! Thanks so much for this awesome video! This is just what I needed! I've been wanting to film CMVs for years now, but keep running into obstacles.
If you don't mind, I do have a question! How do you film yourself without a cameraman? The problem I always seem to face in filming is that I can't set up a shot well, because I have to be the subject in the frame and press record at the same time.
I press record and then move into frame. My camera's autofocus is continuous and adjusts itself, so there's no focus issue with that. One of the reasons that I chose the Canon 80D is that it has a screen that can flip around to face forward, so I get a sort of a thumbnail-scale idea of how it looks. But that's also why I recommend taking a test clip and then checking it out to make sure it looks how you want.
So basically in addition to it taking heaps longer, another trade off would be that you can’t have any movement in the shots hey? Eg when the camera follows you, comes in closer over time ?
"...for my Firefy music Video .." .... Went and Watched :D ... Ok I'm back ...
how would I shoot difference scenes?
do I pause the song and the camera at the same time and then move to a different scene? Or just shoot the whole song in each scene and then cut it out when editing? I tried the second option however I can never cut accurately enough so that the song matches up with the my lips
Mute audio from all visuals you have,
make full scenes (full song) for each different scene,
then you should always have separate audio and visual --> So you could just drag & shove the visual on the right millisecond..
So yeah, rather your second option.. But I don't understand how you can make it out of sync like that..
I made a song yesterday and I wanna make a music video I have alot of ideas
How did I not know you have a Firefly video???
I'm new and I love you 😘♥️❤️😘😘❤️
I'm sure someone must have told you before, but you reeally look soo much like Alyson Hannigan!!
I hv my composed songs bt dnt know how to play any instruments can you help me out 😃
Ohhh i get it haha
Amazing! Concise! Informative! Thank you!
Also, I highly recommend Davinci Resolve for another free video editing software option.
Thank you for this video!
How is that I can you teach me how to makea. Music video fro rapping please
Very impressive! Here's my first effort to shoot my own music video for the song Jack-Up this Train! featuring paper Shinkansen trains:
What app?
Tell me how
To make my own music video I also need to be able to sing or play an instrument and be cute. Blue hair is optional unless I'm bald. But, even then...
♡♡♡
Windows Movie Maker is dead unfortunately, and I haven't been able to find a good replacement with the same ease of use.
Power director is really good
WAIT, WINDOWS MOVIEMAKER IS DISCONTINUED?! holy shit, can you tell I haven't had a PC in like a decade?? wow!!! the end of an era!!
@@GinnyDi I know right? A couple years ago my son wanted to try making his own RUclips videos, and it's been hellish trying to find something that is simple enough for him to grasp and doesn't break the bank.
what up
... You make MUSIC VIDEOS? How have I not found these yet?!
...I dunno! I just released one last month, haha! You can check my Music Videos playlist if you want to see all of 'em :)
@@GinnyDi Going to have to do some binging! Relatively recent subscriber (off your Evermore video) and guess I haven't fully explored the scope of your content yet!
Can... can yiu film a video with the green screen and the green hair? I think the results would be amazing
HAHA I mean, you could, but it would be bad! I actually recently did some filming on a bluescreen because this year would straight-up disappear on a greenscreen.

go home, RUclips, you're drunk!!
Nothing new there I think we need to have an intervention xD
Next Up: How to live life by yourself. 😔
I can't imagine going through all that work only to accidentally format your SD card, that would be awful.
you dont need permits to film in public
