  • "An Introduction to Sand Driving" was created for people who have not yet driven in sand, dunes and on the beach. It explores basics such as deflating tyres, driving steep descents and using momentum to conquer sandy ascents safely.

Incredible man! I really do think you should do a refresh of this video every few months. There’s A LOT of new 4x4/ FJ drivers like myself that could benefit immensely from this!

first time i see a proper fj cruiser introduction video for dune bashing. can you give more specifics for steep ascends, which gear and offroad settings are the best to keep momentum and not fail during the incline?

Great advice, and people mostly all these tips, if not all, will work on most vehicles, not just a 4x4.

Thank you for the comment. I have just rebuilt my FJ's packing system and have four videos in d=edit mode.

Hi Thomas thanks for the message. I am taking a small group up on Anzac weekend to film some driver training vids. The normal outing is too busy and there is not enough time to film. You are welcome to join me, Sat - Monday there are some rules though re you giving me permission to fly drones over the group, two people max per vehicle and no music unless guitar, etc. else I get a copyright strike from RUclips. BUT you get free training (I am a qualified trainer licensed in Africa) and an outing with max 5 vehicles,

PS I have a longboard and just sold my electric skateboard so maybe you can talk me through some stopping and cornering techniques.

Sounds good I'll see if my calendar is free. Yes you seem to be very knowledgeable in the 4×4 world and I've watch most of your videos and would love to come for a drive some time

I can definitely help you with that even tho I've been out of that game for a while now, muscle memory is an amazing thing doesn't take me long to get back into the rhythm

Hi Andrew I have seat covers I brought with me from South Africa. They have lasted 12 years and cost less than $20 each.

@@4x4overlandingandotheradve28 Thank you for the response. Do you have a brand name or some way to find them ? Im looking to order some covers for my 2007 fj and I really like the way those look.

Cant reccomend jerking the steering wheel at speed with low psi either. Living near the beach i watch people do this all the time in 4wds jerk tyre grabs and the car rolls. Or the tyre comes off the rim. They all wonder why after. Smaller quick movements in dry deep rutted sand ok but you dont want to combine that with acceleration. What works for one man 99% of the times doesnt mean its right either.

This is great, ive never ever taken my fj on the beach and to be honest as i love it and want it to last for my future generation hahah i wont ever take it on the beach sand. Also fuck that valve removal tool right off. Throw it away! Just get a set of deflators any good 4wd shop will have them. They are set to a psi you choose and you just screw it on and it clicks off at the set psi. Simple.
Never Ever, Ever run the risk of removing the valve. Why? Would anyone do that other than a tyre shop.
