The unfortunate thing is problem's like this wouldn't exist if not for Governments promoting the false Climate Change Catosphere narratives. There's nothing wrong with combustion engines & they are the most energy efficient option & the easiest & cheapest to fix. As a mechanic i'm pretty sure you're very aware that C02 is a byproduct of Heating & not a Cause as climate alarmist would have you believe. Also I bet you know the materials used to make these Hybrids, EVs & automobile batteries are a lot more rare & a lot harder to gather than oil, coal & natural gas. It's also costing citizens of many countries a lot more money than it should to own & maintain an automobile. A car gives an individual Freedom of Movement of large areas which in turn offers many other Personal Liberties. The attack open our Energy Sources is a huge deal thats going to be extremely costly to Humanity in general if they continue down this road. Sure I like the idea of new technology where its necessary but when its unnecessary it becomes an obstacle for most to achieving Financial Independence & Personal Prosperity.

This is an absolutely BRILLIANT video showing exactly where the EV (?) repair industry is heading .... it hurts me to realise that as usual the issue is with manufacturers withholding the necessary information from technicians to enable rapid effective and dare I say economical repairs ... thank you Dan.
I fully agree with you that manufactures should provide adequate information to enable economical repairs.
I can’t be sure but I suspect that these fault codes would indicate that the resolver is faulty.
I would want to be able to confirm that by measuring the resistance of the coils but I’m not sure that would be necessary in this case.
If the primary coil was broken however, you’d have to check the signal first before you could draw a conclusion.
Just my thoughts, I’m not even an amateur mechanic so I’ll be grateful to be corrected if I’m wrong.
You are right, manufacturers should provide more information.
Superb job, Dan. I really like how you got a working unit on the bench and could show all this to us with actual VW Golf GTE parts without ripping the whole transmission of this vehicle apart. Very good diagnostics!
Fortunately we got a local transmission shop that we got a good relationship with. They have a lot of this stuff on the shelves that we can use.
Simply amazing how much you have to learn to make these videos happen , I stopped being a mechanic 20 years ago, love watching your videos. Keep up the great work .

I was a qualified mechanic but this is way above my pay grade and frankly I don't really want to know about EV's. I'm 61 now and just hope that I can keep a petrol engined car running long enough to see me through my driving career. Dan - you are an extremely talented man and you deserve every success.
I understand Paul. You probably didn't see it coming that one day you would have to work on electric vehicles when you became a mechanic. Neither did i but i still need to do this for alot of years😂
Why this man doesn't have MILLIONS of subscribers I will never understand. Those of you with social media accounts (I'm not on of any of them) should try and share his channel because he deserves it. The skills, the knowledge and the comedy have been exemplary for years now. I honestly would drive to the Netherlands to have my car diagnosed by him. Great work again Dan...as always!

Brilliant diagnosis yet again, I would have loved to have worked with you in my younger days.
Really helped simplify those sensors in the electric drive unit and why they are there. Hopefully manufacturers will release more information for these components and issues where it’s so important and becoming more common every year
I just looked up service information for stellantis products equipped with the relatively new 4xe systems in jeeps. They use the exact same principle and do have a chart of ohm/resistance specs for the different sin/cosin hi and lo. They show 53 and 56 ohms +/- 20%. But they do show resolver b excitation hi and lo to have 18.9ohms allowing +/- 20%. So thankfully the specs are there but the “excitation” one has slightly less resistance. As well as the temperature sensor charts. Very eye opening and glad you decided to film this. Thanks again Dan!

Maybe it's not intended to be part of the diagnosis but it would interesting to know how many miles/ km's are on the drivetrain and the number of hours & cost of the repair. Also, a follow up to see if indeed the car was fixed.

I haven't found another channel that even comes close to this level of expertise. And I especially enjoy the sense of humour that Dan brings to his presentations. Every time a new video comes out I am blown away by the level of detail that Dan makes possible for the layperson to understand. This is why you should avoid hybrid. I just wonder what this would cost to repair if the mechanics find the problem at all?
They are going to present workshop with some major challenges. Thats why its important to try to learn as much as you can about them.

Wow Dan - Probably the most interesting video regarding vehicle repair I've seen. Most of us viewing I imagine know a fair bit about ICE cars, but the hybrid/eV scene is still a black art. Thank you for that very comprehensive explanation of the resolver and how it interacts with the car.
Even more amusing he had to plug n' play with a known good 'resolver' because VW withholds info. It does not look or sound cheap. Guess I'm keeping my '87 Golf for a few more years. I have Resolve. But no 'Res$$$$olver'. lol.
