- This old work horse is still bad ass in my honest opinion. Trying to stretch the range with this rifle to see how far I can shoot it with successful target engagement. Even with the harsh weather condition on this day, I'm surprised it (both) did very well...
550 now will barely cover 380 rounds of .30-06 alone 😭
Thanks for watching bro... I have the base for the scope, not the original M1 Garand D sniper but an aftermarket scope base and a nikon scope. But I rather want to have it as is, iron sights! Hell, "White Death" did 500+ in 100 days with iron sights, which I believe he is one hell of a phenomenal marksman.
Nice shooting Mike, Great gun the M1 Garand, wish we could get this side of the pond,
L ' ogiva originale pesava 167 Grani
I believe so! I've tried all kinds of bullets even the 175gr SMK and 180gr but it really likes the 150gr-155gr bullets in my experience
you said you where using a 150 gr bullet and 4895. How much powder are you using . I have 2 garands and have shot out to 600 yards would love to try and stretch it out further
sorry for the late reply... I'm using 47.5 Grain of H4895 which is MAX on Hodgdon's LOAD DATA website. But please work out a load low just to be safe... I'm using KC 75 NATO cases and Winchester primers. Good luck and have fun!!!
I love GARAND
I love GARAND
Ow I forgot to mention. When you do your trial and error to adjust your gas block/cap properly, use the heaviest bullet that your are going to be using on the rifle because adjusting the gas cap using the light bullet ammo may cause the rifle to "FTE" when using it with the heavier bullet ammo. Good luck and let me know how it goes...
$550 for a garand!?!? When did you buy it?
AAW Projects I went to a gun show back in 2010 at the Cashman convention center in North Las Vegas where I purchased 1 ammo can full of 40S&W ammunition. As I walk back to my car I saw my friend (Army buddy, I deployed with him in Iraq in 2005) that was on his way in to walk around inside. We were just chatting about deployment, work and guns then he mentioned about his M1 Garand. As early as 8 years old, I remember wanting to own an M1 Garand lol. I don’t know much about the Garand pricing and at that time I thought $500 for the Garand was a good deal, but when he said he had an ammo can full of Garand food to go with it? Like I said I don’t know much about rifle pricing at that time, but when I heard what he was selling and asking for? I handed him his money as fast as I could! Hahaha the M1 Garand is still in great working condition and shoot’s fine and straight until now and one of the most fired rifle out of my collection to date! It always bring back good childhood memories and a pure joy to shoot out in the range. Much more fun than the M1A1 in my opinion.
That friend of mine also sold me his Arsenal SA M7 Classic for $600 with a couple of 30 round Romanian mags and a few hundred rounds of wolf ammunition. The rifle costs $1,300 bucks in the market today...
Nice
nice shooting with irons.
I was making roughly the same yardage shots on a 2 foot wide rock pillar with 165 gr Winchester hunting rounds.
What's up Ryan?! I ordered the adjustable gas block from midwayusa it's called "Schuster DCM Adjustable Gas Plug" There's an instruction included but basically to start it off, open up the gas plug as much as possible. Fire one, and find out if your rifle ejected the cases. Repeat until you'll see that the case are being ejected at a good spot. "Good Spot" in my opinion is between your 3-4 Oclock position if 12 Oclock is where you are aiming your rifle. Thanks for viewing buddy!
The money you paid is enough to only buy ammo. Great deal! Beautiful rifle!
All I came for was the part where I exploded in my pants at 4:17 :) that's badass man, can't wait to see the scope on it
nice shooting. I've been on the fence about getting an M1 Garand, think it's time I pull the trigger.
Did you ever get one?
Do it - you'll never regret it.
Thanks Yusuf! I guess I was having a lucky day :D
OOOF - all that camera swing make me puke... whoa there !
Thanks Dave... Really wish it won't be taken away by the gun grabbers. I'm worried...
That's insane. I don't know how you do that even without the wind, but add the wind factor over that distance, damn. That's nuts.
Great video! Where did you get the aftermarket gas-block cap, and how do you adjust it properly? Thanks!
Nice shooting, keep ut the good work :)
Couldn't see any hits on the target.
How do you zero those sights man ?
you know your missing right?
Sold Out!!! Handload is King!!!
walmart doesnt sell ammo anymore
Good shooting!
How many gr of 4895 did you use? Im using 45gr right now but havent fired it much.
forest chicken hey there! I used 47 gr on 150 grain bullets and 45gr on 168 gr bullets... I’m using a variet of KA brass, but mostly KA 68 brass, so do your work-up load but watch the pressure signs. Also make sure you have the adjustable gas block, it does affect your bullet impact by how much gas is released by the adjustable plug... Good luck!
Guns and Autocross thank you. Sounds like im using the same for my 168 grain loads. I have some soft points in 165 grain i think i will load them with 45grains as well. Should be very close to the same i would think? Take care.
forest chicken yes sir! Like the 308 round, the 30-06 is very forgiving when it comes to what reloading combo you wanted to use. Have fun and God Speed!!!
MIKE,how much is a M1 Garand nowdays?
Elvy I am no expert in M1 Garand but it will run you $800 up to $3500 for WWII all matching parts.
@@mikedoingmikethings702 wow, dint expect to be expensive, you were very lucky to get yours for a much cheaper price.I was pretending to buy one for hunting here in Brazil but its hard to find.Do you got any good website to import it?
Elvy because I got mine a while back and I purchased it from a friend whom I went to combat with in Iraq. So I got a “friend price” lol ow, did I mention it came with 400 rounds of 30-06 rounds? 🤭
Wow,really nice Mike,u should try some log range shooting with a spotter and good cameras,at 500 meters
