Come on you guys out there watching this, over 2000 views and only 400 likes. Ok, he enjoys what he is doing but so do we. It doesn't cost anything to hit the like button.
😁I really enjoyed it! Some of the best days aren't necessarily the sunny ones, but rather the ones that present a little challenge. There’s something grounding about being on a hill or taking a walk in the middle of nowhere with not a single person in sight. I love the tranquility of those walks, just you and nature. It reminded me of a very windy, wild day on Ben Ledi, where it was snowy and sleeting at the summit, andgale-force winds at the top. The wind created horizontal dog ears for my dogs-an awesome sight! Despite the harsh conditions, there was a beautiful quietness in the mist and clouds. Coming down through it was simply amazing. Some of the best opportunities for photography come on days like these. Your blog makes these experiences even more enjoyable!
My favourite time on a Sunday evening when you post your video. The music, the stunning scenes, the anticipation & excitement have me totally captivated. You're so comforting to listen to & I love to see you on your adventures. Have a wonderful Christmas & a healthy new year 🎄 😊
Merry Christmas Glenn , what a fantastic walk. Yes , Paramo is good - I own an Alta 2 jacket, had it 10 years and I've never been wet inside. There's no rustle noise from the fabric either and enough pockets for map , phone etc. All the best 👍
Anyone can see the beauty on a picturesque day, but it takes a wise soul to see the beauty in everything at any time. Thank you for bringing us along on even the most grim days, so we can also find the beauty of it with you.
Brilliant Glenn, a typical atmospheric day in the Lakes. The northern fells are so good, simply because they are so quiet. All the best for Christmas and New Year mate. 😀🥾⛰🎅🏻🎄
Always add a like as it’s the least we can do, Glad you survived the gusts, be thankful you weren’t here in Scotland as gusts were even wilder. (125mph) Save any Scottish trips for spring summer.
You know theres times when having a surrogate hill walker doing the Wainwrights on our behalf is a pleasure and this is certainly one of them🤣Thank You. Have a Great Christmas and New Year.
Great vid, loving this series. Particularly enjoying sat watching the horrific weather giving you a thrashing while I’m sat eating a home cooked meal and having a beer 😂
Merry Christmas to our clan chief. Thank you for all the miles, minutes and hours you’ve put in to bring us a most inspirational informative fun and funny channel on RUclips. All the best for the big day tomorrow and here’s wishing you a great new year in 2025. ⛰️⛰️⛰️🎄🍻
HiGlen, great watch as usual. Originally there were no lakes in the lake district bassenthwaite was known as Broadwater till the railway came and called the station Bassenthwaite Lake Bassenthwaite Lake was born.
Another great effort pal. Not since I was nipper anticipating the next episode of Blake's Seven can I recall looking forward to watching something with so much relish.
So happy, to see you happy again, this hike perked you up! 40 MPH is nothing to you, I've seen you on Crinkle Crag, almost crawling LOL. A lot of soggy, boggy ground but that's nothing to worry about. Really enjoyed this, Thank you Glenn. 😉👌
The thing i like about your videos is you show the infrequent trod paths. That encourages everyone that's its not just scafell pike, helvellyn and skiddaw to explore. Top marks as ever.
You said it bro; one hell of a way to feel alive. There’s definitely something exhilarating about being thrown around like a dog toy by fell-top gustage! One of my favourite spots too. Loved this! Oh; and happy 12th birthday to the Finnmeister!!!
Merry Christmas my friend. Thanks for a brilliant year of walking exploits. The view from Great Calva is one of my favourite views in The Lakes. My favourite non-alcoholic brew choices depends on time of day: 1. Revelation - coffee (Union Roasters) 2. Scottish Breakfast Tea (Shibui) 3. Jasmine Green Tea (Shibui)
Thanks for your great videos this year. Thoroughly enjoyed them all. Wishing you a merry Christmas and the very best for the year ahead. 🎄 Looking forward to more wonderful videos in 2025.
Grammy gnome here. Another fine video. I enjoyed every second. I did want to ask you if you ever used one of the GPS emergency beacons? My daughter-in-law hiked, the Appalachian Trail, and many of the hikers use them in case of extreme emergencies. I know that if you fall and if nobody’s walking the path you’re walking. And you got to admit that you walk a lot of different ways will somebody find you before your body is enveloped by the bog and your bones are forever loss. And then in 10,000 years, they find you and call you the bog man. And they’ll talk about your pack like…. look at this naïve waterproofing they used and look at this ridiculous food they have when now all we do is eat pills for nutrition. And they may have ugly things to say about your outfit. I don’t know. But it would make Grammy Gnome much happier and I wouldn’t think you were gonna die at the end of every video if you would have a GPS emergency signal thing with you. So please address this in your next video so I can stop thinking that something‘s gonna happen to you. Oh and I drink only water and eat only animal based food. I’m one of those nutty people.
Brill! I really enjoyed that, Glenn, thank you. BTW, I was enjoying a bottle of 'Rocking Rudolph' Christmas Ale while walking the walk with you. Merry Christmas, ho-ho-ho. 🙂
Wow wild wet windy walk from my sofa thank you for all the walks you have done this year Glen looking forward to the next one next year so wish you happy Christmas and happy new year for 2025 trace 😊
Just finished a malt whisky in the warmth and now having a mug of Yorkshire Tea watching you squelching around in the wind at white water dash. Most relaxing hope when your finished you find a great hostelry. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and everyone😊 else.
We did The Old Man of Stoor around Easter time when storm Kathryn hit, must have been 60 mph that day, both me and the wife on our knees going up, she wasn’t best pleased with me. We laugh about it now but pretty hairy.
Its life affirming alright being out in those kind of winds ! Last year in Snowdon was up on Moel Siabod with similar speeds and that was below the summit thought it best to turn round as couple of guys coming down saying how bad it was at the top - exhilarating hard work and scary !
Yorkshire gold tea for me (im midlands based) but strong black coffee first thing in the morning gets me going, loving the gate action ❤ merry Xmas Glenn and family
Brilliant stuff, as always. If you are ever in the situation where you wish to make a video but are unable to get up the fells I really enjoy the bits where you drive somewhere showing the journey in real time and natter about stuff as you go.
Said a few weeks ago that Bakestall was the one Northern fell I had not done and you went up it using a route i had not considered! I think i will use the track up to Whitewater dash (when I finally get round to doing it) but the steep pull up to the summit looks tough! Loved the rest of the walk, brought back yet more great memories so thanks again. Have a great Christmas and best wishes for 2025!
Brew of choice is a lapsang souchong tea every time. I hate to say it but I think I got the best deal a cuppa and an armchair rather than the wind and rain. Where we live on a Cornish hill we are experiencing wind between 55 and 75mph with all of the storms hitting the UK.
Hurray you enjoyed Great Calva ( not so much Knott!). It is a magical area so don't let anyone in on it! Really enjoyed your slosh through the bogs... even after a drought in August it is still a bogfest round Knott. Anyway up... have a restful and enjoyable Christmas period. Here is wishing you every success for 2025.
Yorkshire tea lad. These walks are what you do best, Glen, walking and talking, and explaning the routes. Also, your eye for great photography. Thank you for taking us with you. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 🎉 x
Awesome episode 👍 Good to see you in the paramo, I’ve had a Velez for about a year now and keep telling people to trust the tech as it works and you don’t sound like a crisp packet 😂 Something about the Northern fells that hits the spot 👍
Thank you for the vid! Happy birthday Fin-meister! Gotta be Tetley strong but milky. But currently 8.40pm and have a glad of chianti! Wishing you and yours a Happy Christmas 🎄 ! Xxx
Another great video, thanks for sharing. Sat here watching with a couple of hot sausage rolls and a can of brewdog session ipa……Merry Christmas everyone have a great time.
Sat here with my supper and Aldi's Earl Grey (without milk) wondering how often you would have to say c*ck up 🤭 or great c*ck up before RUclips pulls the vid. If it doesn't, I really wouldn't worry about hawes any more. 😂 Merry Christmas to you and yours and everyone in the comments 🎄 and a very happy 2025🎉
Brilliant video and there’s a lovely moment at the start when you are pointing at Bassenthwaite lake. There is a sleep watching you and as you point in turns to look at what you’re pointing at. It made me smile. Anyway thanks for taking us and I hope you have a very merry Christmas. 🎄 🐑👏🏻
Another great video. I love the adventures and love the commentary, keep up the great work... p.s. can you hear me? lol. I love how you're always worried if we can hear you.
Was a tad windy in the peaks(54mph gusts)... We bail out of a hill walk and went caving instead lol. exited to then be called out to walker who slipped and injured the hip and ankle due to the wind... So ended up on the tops anyway... Good old mother nature at her best, reminding us she is always in charge..

The “wainwrights” walks in winter are peak Black Crag episodes 👍
Love the wind and mist flowing over the grass at 32:52

All the best for Christmas and New Year mate. 😀🥾⛰🎅🏻🎄
Coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon for me. And it has to be Yorkshire tea even for a southerner like me. Nothing else tastes right.
Same here. Yorkshire Tea or nothing. Nice and strong. Also like Lavazza Prontissimo Americano instant coffee.
Always add a like as it’s the least we can do, Glad you survived the gusts, be thankful you weren’t here in Scotland as gusts were even wilder. (125mph) Save any Scottish trips for spring summer.
I love walking on Dartmoor and the South Downs in similar weather, totally get it 😎 Have a great Christmas 🎄🎄

You’ve gone above and beyond in this episode. Cheers. Just watching this on Christmas Day with a Glengoyne to warm my insides.
