    I'm impressed with the value found in the Kia Soul, especially the base trim. Almost as much cargo space as you can find in many crossovers that cost $5000 more and a 10 year warranty! Looks attractive too! Top class review as always, Drew!

      The let down for me is the EX trim should come with LED lights standard at the front and rear. The EX is "top of the line" kind of hard to say that when you got incandescent and halogen going on.

    • @4orrcountry
      @4orrcountry Год назад +1

      In cold weather, halogen àre better than LED because they generate WARMTH which melts snow off of headlights!

    This is the best car you can buy in the sub $20k range. Lots of standard features for the money, the warranty is unmatchable, and its almost as big as a compact crossover.

    My brother bought 2022 kia soul after his 2017 got damaged in storm. He called me last year and said his engine making noise. I heared over phone and sound like low on oil. I checked and he had no oil after got oil chnage done like 1000 miles ago. I added 4 quarts of oil. He had recall for oil consumption. Was covered under warranty.

    I have a Scion xB that I bought brand new in 2006 that currently has 230,000 miles on it. Because it's still a great car and is on the original clutch and running solid, but has serious damage in the front from hitting a deer, I'll never be able to get any money out of it so I'll drive it into the junkyard rather than ever sell it.
    However, I'm watching this video because I do a lot of traveling and have rented a lot of cars sometimes for cross country drives. Of all the cars I've rented the 2023 Soul I'm driving right now in Seattle is my absolute favorite. This thing is an incredible car with wonderful creature comforts inside. The only problem is it's a kia, and what that means is, I don't know if it'll last very long.
    But I'll check reliability articles over the next few months and I still might find myself purchasing one. If it still uses a timing belt in that engine I won't even consider it though. I only do timing chains and all my cars. I currently have four cars. A Scion xb, ia, and frs, and a Chevy Silverado Z71 that's a piece of junk but I need it to get around my property and to the hardware store.
    Also, car prices are about to utterly collapse so I'll just hang on and buy one of these when they do that. I'll probably trade my FRS in for it. I love that car but as fun as it is, I'm burned out on racing every time I go somewhere. By the way, that one has 186,000 miles on it and has been running strong ever since I bought it. We do a lot of driving here in kentucky. And 150 mi round trip commute really put the miles on that frs.

    This is my first car ever. I bought a Kia 2023 EX in surf blue. I can't compare it to any other car, but I know I really like this one. I read about the engine catching fire after I bought it, that kinda scares me. I love the great features though, especially for a beginner.

    • @TalismanPHX
      @TalismanPHX 10 месяцев назад

      Jen, just keep the oil changed and you'll be fine. No worries about engine fires.

    • @ronniewilliams3691
      @ronniewilliams3691 8 месяцев назад

      I believe a lot of those fires, were due to direct fuel Injection. Carbon buildup. Friction,and carbon produced higher levels of heat. The new multi-port motor, looks very Toyota like. The light body, doesn't seem to over stress the newer 147 hp 2.0 motor. And maintenence looks very idiot proof. I see souls everywhere! Funny, you don't have to look for them, they're just there! Everywhere! I want a Pearl White or Grey GT-Line, with the Technology package, myself. Very low key Mazda CX -5 like! Except, the Soul infotainment system is easier!

    Great review. I traded my 2020 Soul x line for my 2023 Soul Ex. My only complaints: no LED headlights and no heated steering. Hardin Cardin stereo would have been nice. No GT technology package available when I lucked into mine.🇺🇸

      LED lights are a must have far as I'm concerned thus I would not compromise the build in that area. I also need blind spot detect due to the shitty mirrors about the size of large postage stamp. Also need cruise control but I don't give a rats about anything else. well one more, white exterior I live in FL and any other color will get eaten by the sun here.

    I see this as a practical car to buy, if you can get past the image, the EX is a great value for a full featured car. I inherited a Red Solara Convertible which my Wife Drives. I am at the crossroads with my Camry since it has 308,000 miles on it. The Used Car market is crazy. I am in an image type business, personally I do not care, but others do. Concerned on what my reception would be like pulling up in a Kia Soul.

    • @IntoTheLightAstrology
      @IntoTheLightAstrology Год назад +1

      While I've found the driver's seat a bit better than most competitors, in terms of support, I still need extra. I cut out a small wedge (using dense foam from a premade seat backrest, cheap at Aldi market) to go where the seat bottom and back meet. It makes a big difference! And for long trips I have an extra thin foam piece to go right behind my back, from the seat bottom up past my low back, for extra lumbar support.
      If your issue is low back (the most common) the 'S' model (most rentals) have the power lumbar support that can be adjusted.

    I love all the electronic features in the cab of this car. Except for one. Although the digital readouts are handy, I really need radial gauges. In fact, I pulled this rental car over to the side of the road and spent a fair amount of time trying to find the setting that would allow me to change the digital readout to dials. No such luck. You're just stuck with the numbers instead of the dial. What a bummer.

    • @IntoTheLightAstrology
      @IntoTheLightAstrology Год назад

      Thank you for speaking up! (see my comment above) When reviews talk all impressed about the digital gauges, I'm like wtf, all higher end models in Kia with digital have a setting for the analog-look dials. I got the 2022, so glad! I also get wireless android/apple, which I'm not sure the 2023 has, at least not the 10 inch screen from I've heard.

      I dunno. Scotty doesn't think so but he also said it doesn't start burning 1qt/1000 miles until after 15k but here's the thing. Whose driving these things? Probably a hot rodder. You would think KIA would address the issue but I'm not planning on putting a lotta miles on my purchase. Also it may pay to change the oil more often... don't let it get too old. I'm planning on changing oil every 3k miles or around there. and stay off the pedal.. drive smooth.

    Nice car and nice prices. Three Things to keep in mind: 1. Never buy a turbo powered engine, 2. Never buy a car with a CVT Transmission, 3. Never buy a direct injection powered engine. So, the Soul does not have Turbo, but It does have the CVT. Finally, and I don't know if it has direct injection....! Two out of 3 doesn't cut it for me......
