I know so many people can’t stand the styling, but I love the Soul. When you boil it down it’s just such an immensely practical and easy to live with car. Comfortable, roomy, easy to park, peppy, nice tech. I just wish Kia kept the pano roof, power folding mirrors, and cooled full leather seating found on the prior generation. They definitely let the bean counters loose on this generation.

LOVELOVELOVE MY 2022 KIA SOUL!!! It was given to us as a “loaner” while the dealership fixed an issue with our other car; it took me one two-mile trip to FALL IN LOVE! NO WAY was I about to let it go back to the dealership. I am 52 yrs. old, and this is only the 2nd new car I have ever owned. I live in Timbuktu, and I drive just over an hour to work each way - comfort, reliability, fuel economy and warranty top my list of must-haves - the 2022 Soul checks every box (and then some!) I wish I could share the pic I just took of the stats: of my 51.3-mile trip home, I AVERAGED 40 mpg!!! ABSOLUTELY, one of the best decisions I have ever made! 👍🏻

I drive a 2015 Soul, and have been for 3 years now (got it used), and will say, without hesitation, this is one FUN to drive car! Very practical, easy to park and maneuver around, good acceleration (no, it won't win many races!), wonderful driving visibility (quite possibly it's best feature), and I don't care what some say about the styling, I actually really like it. It stands out. It's unique. And, it's ICONIC! I plan to upgrade my 2015 to a 2022, maybe, if the price is right, or possibly get a used 2021 model. I can't see myself in anything other than a Soul.
We have enjoyed our KIA Soul turbo since 2018. Handles great, nice power, easy to get in and out of (I walk with a cane). Just a well built car with great reliability. And yes, I would buy another if this one is worn out.

We love the Kia Soul. Even the smaller engine and iVT drives very well. The Soul just has an image problem. Always thought that Kia has a real gem here that people overlook for corollas and civics. The interior and dash is surprisingly very well done. Visibility and easy driving make it a perfect urban car. Seems that Kia could even take this the Mini Cooper route if they could make the styling a little more sophisticated looking and concentrate on driving dynamics.
I bought a 2018 soul standard package automatic. I like driving it. Good on gas and easy to get into parking spaces. The lift gate back and lay down seats gives me as much cargo space as my old blazer. Have had no mechanical issues so far. I would buy one again.
Recently got the Xline and it is very responsive, respectable, and just pure fun. Super spacious for a Hamstermobile and cannot fault any experiences with it.
Got a blue 2022 GT today. Found out pretty quick the smoother you are with the throttle. The better the DCT does in slow stuff. I was impressed with the seats and quality of the interior. The ride is better than I thought it would be. That sound system just wow!! Great review by the way. It helped.
I test drove the Kia Soul last year at my local Kia dealership and it was fun to drive. I gotten a credit for the dealership for 39000 dollars. I recently went to the same dealership and gotten approved for the 2022 Kia Soul but I wasnt ready to buy bc they tried to make me trade in my 2011 Toyota Corolla that I was almost done paying for. I told them I would be ready to buy early December.
I have a 2020 Soul EX. I love everything about the car except for the ride and the recalls. I purchased my car in February 2020 and I have less the 4,000 miles on it due to COVID and working from home but I've already had three recalls. The ride on the Soul is VERY stiff and you will feel every crack in rough pavement. When you go over a speed bump or hit a pot hole, the entire rear end of the car will bounce pretty hard because there is no independent suspension. Finally, the gas mileage numbers are off for me. I'm averaging 23.5 miles per gallon in city driving. I'm no speed demon on the road so I'm not sure why my numbers are not matching the advertised numbers by Kia. There is a lot to love about this car but Kia needs to go back to the drawing board on the suspension. I hope I'm done with recalls for a while.
We had 14 SX model with the full leather trim, heated wheel, heated front seats, touch screen, and other goodies. Unfortunately I was T-boned at an intersection and the insurance company wrote it off after it was paid for in March of this year. The accident was %100 other driver’s fault, plus dashcam footage sealed the deal.We now have a 22 GT-Line Limited with all the same things as the Turbo including the full leather package. It’s a great car, fun to drive, good gas mileage and the $13,500 settlement helped ease the pain of losing the 14. The only downside is our $400+tax roof racks are not compatible with the 22 because of the smooth roofline. I guess they’ll be going up for sale along with the rear wing/spoiler I had purchased but didn’t have a chance to install. I had also just mounted the steel rims with the winter tires two weeks before the accident. The 18” alloys were in the shed so I had winter tires mounted on those so I’ll be able to swap out the 18” alloys that came on the car myself in the spring and fall and save $120 every year.
I've a 2016 Tucson Turbo, and I love it. I suspect the lack of turbo lag is due to the 7 speed DCT, but without a boost gauge there is no way of knowing. Now new DCT owners be aware, pushing on the brake is like pushing in a clutch, so don't ride the brake, it's either on or off. If you want a quick takeoff from a dead stop, take your foot off the brake about 1 second or so before you plan on taking off. Hopefully software allowing a creeping mode will eliminate overheating in hot stop and go traffic. I have only caused the overheating lamp for the transmission to come on when riding the brake while trying to go up ramps for oil changes. I suspect based on 7hp per pound of boost that this Soul has about 10lbs of boost, still really wish they had a boost gauge.
Never before have I ever found the Kia Soul appealing or attractive in anyway until I turn on your channel Gold Pony! I want the exact one your sporting, the price is reasonable as is the 201 HP, color & wheels.... Kia hit a home-run with this un-sung hero!

Hi kids! 60 year old man here. I had a 2011 and then a 2015 KIA Soul. Both great cars. Switched over to a Hyundai Elantra GT in 2019 and love it. My next car will likely be electric and most likely either KIA or Hyundai.
@@braetonwilson4296 It has nothing to do with being old unless you mean old enough to remember the Kia as the keychain car. That & after a drunk driver hit my car, the ins co gave us an almost new Sorento (had under 3K miles) as a rental. I drove it the 1/2 mile home & then was 5 miles into my work drive & was stranded on the side of the highway for 4+ hours because of a snowstorm when the car literally just shut off & then wouldn't start again. I had been lucky to get it steered to the side of the road, but sat freezing. I wasn't injured, so I had to wait in line behind accidents. Too many people I knew had similar experiences, so I swore I'd never drive anything with Kia (or ford) in it's name again. I get annoyed when people refer to "old" or "older" in a seemingly derogatory way as not all of us have VCR's with 12:00 flashing AND my car doesn't have to be an automatic for me to drive if off the lot!
I still have my 2011 Kia Soul with 200,000. The engine is great but the body is rusting and have replaced several things on it. But it's been a great car.
Just put a hold on the only one coming into my district. Happens to be cherry black with black interior. Would've LOVED the gray or white. But I'm stoked to get the 22 Turbo. Have to wait until May 11 for delivery. Killing me!
Thank you for all the information. You did a great job with the review. I ended up buying a 2021 GT non turbo. I love the car so far. Being also from Harrisburg, It has been hard finding the trim and colors for this vehicle these days. Keep up the good work.
Just bought a top trim 2022 Soul this week and loving it. I'm in Canada though so no turbo (they weren't selling up here so Kia Canada axed it as an option for us couple years ago), but hey I do get vented seats in exchange, so yay for extra summer comfort? Actually vented seats are a godsend, I say it's a worthy trade off.
I watched this video before buying my soul in February of 2022 and now I’m rewatching it for an entirely different reason. I love my car but I just don’t understand why there is no grab bar for the driver. It’s helpful sometimes to have that. I have the LX and I see at the 11:36 time stamp there isn’t one in this model either.
This is obviously an old ad as I own a 2023. The only problem with it is being keyless and the self start. If you don't turn off the self start, the engine shuts off and restart automatically at every stop.
LOL, at the start of the video you said you'd talk about all the changes other than the obvious new Kia logo... save everyone some time, its a carryover model, so if you've seen a 2021, you've seen a 2022. There's some trim changes, like they all get the 10.25" infotainment now, instead of just the higher trims. Other things get downgraded, like the EX used to get LED headlights of the turbo, now only the turbo gets upgraded headlights.
Hey Gold, another great review. Couple questions: Did you find the turbo model transmission weird at low speeds like stumbling and delayed choppy feel? Some of the previous models there were complaints of this..and with the dct can you drive it full time like an automatic transmission? Your input would be appreciated please bro. Thanks. Dave 😉
I was going to purchase a new Soul. Then they stopped offering the 6 speed manual transmission. According to Consumer Reports and other sources their ITV transmissions (Hyundai and Kia's name for their Continuously Variable Transmissions) have been trouble prone.
Got a loaner 2023 which is a nice little commuter car. Small trunk but doable. The biggest issue is the front grill is made of shit plastic and broke somehow during a drive. I dont know what popped up and hit it. But why take up that much space and use material that cant withstand whatever may pop up and break it so easily. Small portion broke off and basically screwed because you have to replace the whole grill. A piece that would be a huge cause for concern.
I bought a 2020 Kia soul the first year they redesigned it was very happy until I tried to get on the stand behind their warranty. Been dealing with them for over two months and they never call you back and they always make excuses. Just beware if you’re buying a Kia soul get a reputable dealer
I would love one, BUT....after reading about years of spontaneous fires I'm nixing getting one. A 2022 in Florida has caught fire so the serious issue still hasn't been resolved. I can't believe that in this many years they continue to pump out cars with such a serious issue. Do your homework.
Picked myself up a 2022 Gt-Line just this week. No turbo for us makes me a little sad, but then I remember we get vented seats and honestly I say that's a fair trade.
Hello, Can you help me with the following engineering inquiry on a 2022 Kia Soul LX Which mode combination gives the highest acceleration from 0 mph? 1) Sport 2) Normal Mode 3) Drive Mode 4) Manual Mode (with driver shifting at what RPM?) 5) Manual Mode (with no driver shifting). Same question, but moving at 30, 40, 50, 60, mph Thank you for your time and consideration.
lol, aside from the honda the soul blows those out of the water. For being purpose built at this price point the soul has managed to hold its place since 2010.
Thanks for the video. Just found the channel. I have a 2019 Honda HRV LX, so I'm looking into something similar size, but my service with Honda has been terrible so I want to shift. Do you think it's a good replacement?
Front seats are terrible .. they cut off blood circulation to the lower legs. Interior is designed for a small fingered person. The front seat backs don't go forward very far. It is not nearly as comfortable as the 2010 Soul I drove for 200,000 ks.
I just can’t get past that red light that goes all the way around the top I think that’s a mistake I guess it’s OK for a toaster I ended up going with the Hyundai venue Limited scarlet red pearl awesomeThank you for the review very good and detailed

Seems that this is not going to be delivered in europe / germany. Can´t wait to november and the delivery of my first (e-)Soul!
What the 2022 has is a climate control setting in the media center that says off at all times and does absolutely nothing. Auto stop and go switch has to be turned on and off several times for it to work. Even you start and drive auto stop light comes on as yellow in dash when you stop and car keeps running. Toggle switch a few times and then it works as should. Starting to think it's pieced together with things that were not made for this vehicle
just don't buy a Kia from Palm Springs Kia, they don't honor the bumper to bumper and will charged you for everything even if you buy there western warranty which is extra $ and may even break some stuff in the process and charge you for it. They are pure criminal. We had another dealership verified they shady practices on our soul.
You're coming to full stops, in the middle of a highway, then gunning it, then rolling through stop signs, all while recording himself for a RUclips video. And before you get defensive, know that I'm simply narrating what you're doing.

I like this vehicle very nice
Thanks.
Dave 😉
Wait a sec, did you skip talking about the heads up display? I get my blue turbo this week. Cannot wait.
VERY NICE VEHICLE- Am considering for my next lease…..am in a VW Tiguan at present time😬…..Color liked : GRAVITY GREY & UNDERCOVER GREEN.
Love it
I was going to purchase a new Soul.
Have you compared the 2020 Kia Soul GT Turbo to the new 2022 Kia Soul GT LX? I respect your opinions.
I would love one, BUT....after reading about years of spontaneous fires I'm nixing getting one. A 2022 in Florida has caught fire so the serious issue still hasn't been resolved. I can't believe that in this many years they continue to pump out cars with such a serious issue. Do your homework.
interior led lights on the gt line too
We just got this one same color.. So far so good..very roomy inside
I have a Prius 2015 and I'm thinking to sell it to buy a Kia Soul... what do you think about it? Good or bad idea?
I have a 2021 kia soul ex, in Canada we have Lx, Ex, Ex+, premium, & Gt line, we don't have the the turbo anymore after 2020 for the model
Picked myself up a 2022 Gt-Line just this week. No turbo for us makes me a little sad, but then I remember we get vented seats and honestly I say that's a fair trade.
I prefer turbo over vented seats
Hello,
Can you help me with the following engineering inquiry on a 2022 Kia Soul LX
Which mode combination gives the highest acceleration from 0 mph?
1) Sport
2) Normal Mode
3) Drive Mode
4) Manual Mode (with driver shifting at what RPM?)
5) Manual Mode (with no driver shifting).
Same question, but moving at 30, 40, 50, 60, mph
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Rivals Like a Toyota CHR,Honda HRV or Nissan Kicks
What about them? Did you have a point?
@@2004cyrus Hmmm
@@rakhsiprayogo82 lol ok rivals
lol, aside from the honda the soul blows those out of the water. For being purpose built at this price point the soul has managed to hold its place since 2010.
Mazda CX-3 and Mazda CX-30 destroyed all of them.
Thanks for the video. Just found the channel. I have a 2019 Honda HRV LX, so I'm looking into something similar size, but my service with Honda has been terrible so I want to shift. Do you think it's a good replacement?
Where are these in stock?
The dealer in the video doesn't have em.
You forgot the HUD and UVO.
Hi, Gold Pony! Would a 'Super-chip' elevate the Mustang GT's top-end?
You missed the heads up display.
I LIKE YOUR VIDEO'S
Thanks! 😁
So nice car u wash they use new smart stream engine like kona and AWD like kona car will amazing
Sorry for the late question. Is the carplay/Android auto wireless?
Looking for NO black exterior & black interior Soul Ex with sunroof.
Any dealer?
He Review the GPS System Please
Does it have WIRELESS Apple CarPlay and WIRELESS android auto?
YeS
I have a GT-Line and it only has wired Apple CarPlay.
Mine is wireless Apple play
No CVT?
Front seats are terrible .. they cut off blood circulation to the lower legs. Interior is designed for a small fingered person. The front seat backs don't go forward very far. It is not nearly as comfortable as the 2010 Soul I drove for 200,000 ks.
I just can’t get past that red light that goes all the way around the top I think that’s a mistake I guess it’s OK for a toaster I ended up going with the Hyundai venue Limited scarlet red pearl awesomeThank you for the review very good and detailed
No panoramic sunroof glass in the 2022 model our 2014 and 2015 have it why not offered on the 2022 model seems like a step down to me.....
Probably to offset the cost of all the new tech
Does it come with dancing hamsters?
Absolutely! 🐹
Interesting review!
I´m located in germany and it´s a little bit funny to see a soul with powershifter and exhaust pipe - all those things of past times 😉
Does it have wireless carplay or android auto in the 2022 model? Seems that this is not going to be delivered in europe / germany.
Can´t wait to november and the delivery of my first (e-)Soul!
The 2022 models here in Canada are getting the wireless android auto/carplay, so I can only assume the US is also.
@@Gofr5 It seems that Kia is going to deliver the 2022 Soul in europe without wireless carplay /aa. I will see in some month 😉
😔😔i have a 2021 lx model i really like the car but this gdi stuff is very dangerous kia needs to leave this gdi stuff alone 😔😔
I'm from yemen. It's difficult to have a car 😣 .. what a fuuuck life we have 😭😭😭😭
You're coming to full stops, in the middle of a highway, then gunning it, then rolling through stop signs, all while recording himself for a RUclips video. And before you get defensive, know that I'm simply narrating what you're doing.
Own a 2015 Soul+ 65000 miles oil consumption 2.5 Qts per 3000 miles. Kia is in denial. Buyer beware
Too bad they still burn oil
Very disappointed. You totally forgot the HUD.
Considering that Toyota is about to release the new Corolla Cross,
the Kia Soul does not appear to be as good a value as it used to be.
NO HAMSTER; NO LIKE!
nice but its a KIA still.
It is. With that good ass warranty
That's actually a good thing these days.
Chey
That car would destroy the market if it had AWD.
I think an AWD option would certainly help 👍

I certainly do in my 2020 turbo.
