- Finally made a flight cycle for the Elder Night Fury! His model is a lot of fun to animate, but it takes a long time because his rig as so many controls. I plan to animate him again soon.
Modeled, textured, rigged, animated and rendered by me in Blender.

I like how the spikes/spines look like there’s more of them or they are evolved. Reference to the fact that Hiccup’s mother knew Toothless’s age just from his spikes/spines.

its so smooth its amazing. i honestly think you are the best dragon flight animator on youtube. so many get the subtle interaction of air pressure on the wings wrong, but yours always look so realistic. its lifelike movement is incredible!

the wings still need to be curved. The airfoil shape, especially when gliding. That shape is what moves the air under the wing, so it looks a bit odd without that. The flapping looks decent, but it doesn't look like the wing is catching the air, just kinda pushing itself through rather than sailing.

I have one of the craziest ideas for this guy- like you should animate him at the part where Hiccup cut off the netting from Toohless and when he lunged for him and gave him the total death stare

I like to imagine this guy as either Toothless's dad or his granddad. Either way, whatever story you may have for him, whether he is a relative of Toothless or not, he's so majestic regardless! I love the little rips/holes in the membranes of his tail flaps and wings, and the withered, old look/feel that he has.
Excellent job on the animation as well! Very smooth and the weight he carries translates well.
I love the little details like the slitly torn Tailfins. It makes it feel like this guy has a lot of experience in his old age.
This is better than what dreamworks is making these days 🙄

I think that the price of $350 is justified by your work and time... it’s a pity that due to modern realities it’s impossible to support you.. Absolutely beautiful, as always! My favourite part this time was the little swoop to the side and then its correction back into normal flight.
One thing - I know this is annoying, but I love your animations so much I'd love to see more of this! - the skin between the wing spines ruffles in the wind as it should, but I noticed that every 'gap' ruffled at the exact same time instead of moving fluidly or at least randomly across the wing. That could really help to sell it!
Would be hella cool if there was like some sort of collab for a httyd fan game because these models and animations are sick as hell!

I'm saying this to other animators as well... Toothless (night furies) don't keep the tail fins flat, they form some sort of "V" shape that can increase or decrease the angle to be almost flat, but It never does go flat 180° degrees! If you need references I really suggest you watch the Test Drive Scene in the 1st movie or the scene Where No One Goes on the 2nd movie, thank you! 💝

Really good animation! I do wonder, how do you animate tips on the wings? Do you add wind in Blender and connect it to the kinetic bones (i forgot how those called)?

I really love it. I dont know how you are planning but in my opinion this is not toothless. Its another night fury or his father idk. But you sould make an animation where this beast flyes next to toothless and hiccup and its 1,5 or 2 times bigger that toothless.
There's actually not even a matter of opinion to worry about lol -- this dragon has both halves of his tailfan, thus can't possibly be Toothless himself. He very likely is bigger than Toothless, and would definitely be a force to be reckoned with. After all, this night fury is still wild: since Toothless is the last of his kind, this dragon obviously lived and died before Toothless was hatched, when dragons were not in close contact with humans. So he still has all the unblunted instincts that made night furies so deservedly feared by mere humans. ;)
He is probably going to the dragon's last resting place called Vannaheim 😢
