Poor little Gus, he was definitely loved ❤ My friend fostered a cat who rejected one of the kittens, so they bottle fed it. Eventually they realized the kitten had a congenital heart defect, and it passed away during surgery. The mother cats definitely understand when one of their babies is sick 😢
My baby was a runt and I had to take her sooner than usual because her mother didn’t want anything to do with her She has congenital heart disease any lived just ten years but it was a good ten years
So sorry for your loss. We had a kitten from birth until he was 8 months old. He was super healthy and sweet and playful, and two of my cousins had two of his siblings respectively, however he got super lethargic out of nowhere one day, and then we just let him rest, when he stopped eating we took him straight to the vet. It was sudden and unexpected, but I remember seeing his eyes looked pale rather than his usual green. Turns out he was born with leukemia, and by the time we’d gotten him to the vet his red blood cell count was the lowest the vet had ever seen in a cat before and that he was clearly fighting to stay with us. We had to put him down because it was too late. He was the only one in the litter who had it. We will always miss you Seeley.
Aw man that's so sad🥺 I'm glad Gus Gus had you and your husband who loved him so much. He knew love and warmth from you guys and you gave him the best in his little life.
just a few hours ago I just went through this with my 4 week old kitten. I only had her a few days and I figured she was just being a tiny baby kitten.. until I noticed something off and swooped her up and went to the vet got there 20 min before closing, they gave her some liquids and a dewormer and sent me me home... a few hrs back home with some papers and a bit more knowledge on kitten rearing (I was told she was only bottle fed when I got her) she rapidly declined.. it was too late and too far of a drive so I called a friend with knowledge and she came over to help me assess better.. within the next hr she went.. I gave her cpr.. she was just like gus gus, a playful but just sleepy.. she seemed to love climbing!.. it's just a little hard when it's your first kitten and you felt like you were doing everything right.. I really appreciated this video.. it was just spot on, and I really related.. watching the videos you provided comforted me.. because she was having fun just 2 days ago.. and then just suddenly bam within hrs..
I'm so sorry you went through that 💔🥺 It's heartbreaking, but you really did everything you could.. even gave her CPR, bless you! I'm sure you gave her a wonderful life while she was with you. I hope you're feeling a little better ❤️🩹
I lost my dog at 7.5 years old to cancer, just a month ago he was running, playing & enjoying life. It's so hard when it's sudden but it really does mean the world knowing he had a great life being a part of my family❤
I have lost --many kittens ---Moms with babies , and bottle babies brought into the shelter. It just crushed me every time ---and I almost quit taking on the tiny kittens after 7 yrs with the shelter.... But , I came to realize --as you did, that giving them the best life while they are here is a success ---they were loved and safe. That is huge. Your story and wise words have given me the strength to go forward into kitten season, and begin again taking in the babies--In Michigan it begins aprox March--- and I will again be taking in the most vulnerable, and not just the ones that are almost sure to survive. Sorry this is long, but again thank you for sharing the story of Gus Gus---and for saving so many lives... subscribed and shared !
Thank you so much for caring for the most vulnerable little souls! I'm sorry you had to go through so much loss ❤️ And thank you for your kind words-- I truly appreciate it
That is huge. Even an hour of unconditional love for one of these babies is priceless, so as much as it may break our hearts to lose them, we have to remind ourselves that the short time they have is the world to them. ❤️ You are wonderful! Bless you and thank you for not giving up, I know how heartbreaking it is!
I just lost a kitten from my first ever litter. I work at the shelter in adoptions and I've never taken anyone home before, even for an overnight, for a variety of reasons. These guys needed a home for just a long weekend, 4 days. Easy stuff to transition into fostering, right? A litter of four, around a month old, eating solid food. Easy! The second night, Laudna crashed suddenly. We did the heating pad, the syrup, called the foster emergency line. Her temp was 91 degrees. It went up to 97 in about an hour so we were advised to syringe feed her some food and see how she was in the morning. The next two days, she was doing great! Eating by herself, though a bit labored. Not playing really because she preferred to climb me or follow me around haha! But this morning, I found her lateral and barely breathing. We rushed to the shelter and she died very quickly afterwards. It sucks so much. Kittens are so fragile and can really take a turn so fast. She was such a sweet little thing. Her siblings are doing fantastic though and there's always more to learn and more to love. I will keep being sad and happy, grateful and disappointed. RIP Laudna ❤️
Thank you for sharing Gus Gus's story! As a fellow animal lover and someone who is looking into fostering when I have enough resources, I love watching your journey. As you mentioned, it's a really heartbreaking thing when a foster or pet passes away under your care (had to let go of pet dogs and cats over the years) but again, as you said, what's important is that Gus Gus was loved and well taken care of. From what I can see, the future batches of fosters coming your way are so blessed to have a wonderful people caring for them. Much love! ❤
So sorry for your loss. It’s extremely hard to lose a friend, especially when you witnessed him come into the world. I did okay watching this video, right up until I saw the gift you got from the shelter coordinator. That just made me cry. You chose to do a very beautiful thing by becoming a foster. I’m glad you decided to continue doing it. Unfortunately, there will always be difficult times, but you are giving these innocent creatures a wonderful life while they wait for their forever families to find them. Thank you! RIP Sweet little Gus Gus. 🐾❤️🐾
I know how you feel! I’ve gone through several cats. My most recent one, I had over 15 years. Then one day he just disappeared? The vet said he was too healthy to wonder off and die, and someone probably ‘adopted’ him. I’m praying I see him again one day. You did an amazing job with the kittens! I liked your husband’s reaction to paying for the surgery haha.
I sympathize with you ❤...I'm feeding some strays, and one died and one of the kittens missing...it breaks my heart that the mommas only takes care of them a few weeks and they are left on their own.
Whats ironic is that my mom used to have a cat named Gus Gus, he had been around since I was a baby(I was born 2009) and he was a sweet cat he would curl up next to me at my feet or above my head and sleep with me. He died when I was very young by a dog that had snapped his neck. My mom was very upset when that happened cause he was like another baby to her. Your guy's Gus Gus honestly looks like my moms Gus Gus except he had dark gray fur with dark stripes and had a white underbelly. Unfortunate that happened to your guy's Gus Gus but at least he died knowing he was birthed into a loving home. At least knowing they had a fun time before they died is something that is more pleasant than having them die in the cold.
Thank you so much for sharing this, Anna. We're fostering our first pregnant cat (Jade) and she's due this week. We greatly appreciate you sharing Lady's story, all sides of it. This was beautiful video to honor little Gus Gus 🩷 I feel it's really going to help me and my partner as we prepare for Jade's litter and their first 8 weeks of life.
You're such a sweet and beautiful soul. You have a wonderful way of thinking and reflecting about this whole situation. I want to share a bit of my own grief here. I lost my pup around a year ago and recently I have been having dreams about him and I get this amazing sensation - I remember the way he smelled and his fur soft to the touch, and every day when I woke up from the dream I could go for hours believing he's still alive. So he might as well be
The part at 17:17 actually made me cry. I've lost many kittens, all at such young ages. One was named Cheeto, because he was orange. He was a runt, but his mom, being my cat, never gave up on him. Unfortunately, we didn't have the right resources to care for him properly, so we gave him to our neighbor. After only a few days, we got news that he hadn't made it. There was also another kitten, born by my sister's cat, who at one point ended up getting covered in his own shit. It was all over him, and he was crying out so much. His mom was trying so hard to lick it off of him, but there was no success. My sister and I pleaded to our mom that we could help her, but she said he'd be fine. The next morning, he was dead. My cat Fluffy also died four years ago, and I've never gotten over losing *HER* of any cat I'd lost. Hell, I didn't even care when my grandpa died. I never had anything to remember them by. 💔
I’m so sorry for your losses 🥺 You‘ll always have your memories to remember them by ❤️ Losing an animal really is crushing because they’re so innocent and don’t know what’s going on.. But as long as you gave them a happy life, you did your part in giving them their best life ever
@@AnnaFosters I was young and stupid at the time I had Fluffy, so I just threw her around to see if she'd land on her feet. And I can't ever forgive myself for putting her little babies in a plastic bag and spinning them around...-
Bless little angel Gus Gus and bless you for finding the strength to still give your love away to these beautiful souls. It’s so hard to lose them, but you really do make a difference in their lives no matter how long or short they may be, and they make a difference in our too!! ❤ Personally, I feel that when you allow yourself to really feel your grief and share that with others it helps you heal.
Thank you for the love you give unconditionally to your foster cats. Not many people would give so much of themselves for those in need. I’ve had many cats over my lifetime and lost my last 2 old cats to cancer and then kidney failure. One was 18 and the other 21yrs old and have been with us all that time. It took a couple years to decide to get another one but found two sibling sisters…. Fancy and Scooter. They came from a no kill shelter at 3 mo old and are precious to my husband and I. Keep up the great work you do and I hope your VLOGs will encourage others to take on the challenge of becoming foster parents.
Aww my heart goes out to you for having such a wonderful feeling of fostering God’s precious creatures I love cats, my husband and I are proud parents of a beautiful orange tabby kitten named REMINTON and we Love him so much, we adopted him when he was 8 weeks old. I actually came back to see Lady’s delivery her kittens and you’re so sweet and loving with with her and her babies I felt your pain on Gus Gus, may the Lord bless your kind heart not just for fostering but also for loving every single one of those precious babies🙏🏼❤️Rip Gus Gus🐈
rip Gus Gus :( one out of my 5 kittens preferred to sleep then play, I looked this up and fading kitten syndrome popped up. I freaked out and told my mom. The kitten just had a different personality. grief is hard, you’ll get through it though. I know it’s even harder when it’s a kitten because they had a whole life ahead of him. R.I.P gus gus 🕊️
Thank you for sharing this. When I was younger, my new kitten also just died and I never got answers why. Makes sense, Fading Kitten Syndrome. Had never heard of it before this video.
We also had 3 kittens whom we used to fed .They all were exactly of same greyish colour. Actually They were Street kittens but their mom was killed by dog when they were just 2 weeks old . So we started giving them food, as they used to roam near our house . They were growing fine till now and were 3 months old. But on 2nd jan 2024, while they were roaming on the road, one of those kittens was killed by another 2 dogs 😔 He was the biggest among all 3 kittens. The Other 2 kittens are still safe, don't know for how long. I feel really sad now because of that 3rd kitten death
Ahww, thank you for sharing. I'm happy Gus Gus with you and your husband. I have four cats and I dread the day when it's their time to go, dreading. I'm enjoying every second with my kitties. I'm really looking forward to your next fostering video series.
Thank you so much for the video, I'm expecting a litter soon and had read about fading kitten syndrome; your video has helped a lot, your reflections are very insightful and now I know to be extra watchful of any kitten mama cat moves out of the nest. It's also really helpful to know that the critical symptoms at four weeks are incredibly subtle! Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video and share your insights.
I know what pain you are feeling because I had to deal with this same pain of Loosing pets. The pets I lost were all cats and they all were out outside cats and sadly all passed from really bad drivers hitting them. Because they passed the same way when the 2end and 3erd cat passed I remembered the other(s) that passed making their deaths even more painful.
You both are AMAZING Humans!!! From one animal lover to another Thank you so much!!! We also rescue from our shelter and have adopted many cats and dogs! Do not think I could foster due to not being able to let them go, but love my 2 dogs and 2 cats I have now❤️❤️❤️❤️
Gus Gus we love u forever you had a big life ahead and your mum and siblings loved you as well ❤❤❤😭🥺🥺😭😢😢🫡❤❤❤ we know your still here either way with your family 😭😭😭😢😢🥺🥺❤❤❤
I have 9 kittens and two of the kittens were starting to have a heart attack.so I started to cry and I bought the 2 kittens to the vet and they told us that they died . We started
I had at beautiful baby boy die yesterday the morning was horrible he was only 8 weeks old and how I saw him die it was one of the worst things a parent can do but if you do it for them your strong, he was the best one
Well, think of it like this. Yes, it really stinks that a cute little fuzzy butt had passed away. BUT, it was humanely done. If he was still out and about on the streets he would've been discarded somewhere where another animal would've gotten him or decayed. I know that sounds harsh but it's what happens out in the wild. He had a respectable death.
I just lost my cat sabrina 2 weeks ago and I'm still a mess Soo sorry for your loss of gus gus u named him after the mouse in cinderella that's adorable
I just had a kitten pass last night. My step son appeared with him last Friday and I could tell the little dude was in bad shape. Apparently my step son, his mom, and step mom had found him on one of the roads in town with the heaviest traffic in town. He was so tiny, and from what I could tell he was under weight, he had some bald spots on the top of his head that we thought may have been road rash or something. He didn't try to play. If we put him down he would just go over to the nearest person and lay with them. I'm not part of a foster group or anything so I can't afford to always take kittens to the vet. I gave him a flea bath and we still had leftover kitten formula from the last kitten we took care of last month. Sunday morning he had "chilling" by that evening he seemed to be doing ok but it was the same way yesterday morning and he didn't really recuperate this time. I kind of knew it was coming when I opened the pin I had him in and he walked away and wondered into the kitchen like he was trying to get away... Idk how else to describe it. It was the most he'd moved all day. He then actively refused formula and used what strength he had to pull away from it. I put him back in the pin on the electric blanket so I could get my daughter ready for bed. I got her to bed, took a shower and went back to the living room where my husband told me that the kitten was on his way out. It was around 9:30. So I held him on my lap in a blanket and cried and cried and cried. I named him Wiley. I couldn't stand the thought of him dying without a name. He was gone by around 11. I think I woke up still crying this morning. A friend of mine offered for me to bury him in her yard since we live in an apartment and don't have that option. So I'll be doing that today. I had looked up some of his symptoms and thought failing kitten syndrome was likely. I'm not sure how old he was but I'm glad he got to experience some love and comfort to counteract all of the pain and suffering he had already been through in his short life. I appreciate this video. RIP Gus Gus and RIP Wiley.
I’m so sorry 😢 I’m glad little Wiley found you guys when he did.. you all gave him a safe & loving home to spend his final days in. What a wonderful gift to have given him ❤️
Fading kitten syndrome occurs around the first week of like and then from 3-4 weeks of life. It’s a general term used by vets but it’s usually from an underlying cause like viral or bacterial infections, parasites, neonatal isoerythrolysis which is blood incompatibility with the mom, congenital defects etc… was the mom tested with URI PCR and fecal PCR? Environmental factors can also lead to this with high or low temperatures, stress, etc.. I haven’t watched the entire video yet but that’s my experience as a foster for the last 16 years 😢 I am sorry for your loss
This so sad ! Honestly I don’t trust vets ! They said this about my cat one time about having high fever ( so I treated him colloidal silver ) Praise be to God he was cured and he was completely fine ! Vets also said about my sisters cat to put her down because she had flea rash or something and my sister sister made her better ) can’t imagine if we followed the vets advice :( I believe if something isn’t deadly these some kind of cure out there ❤
uhh listen..i’m sorry about your lack of trust in the vets due to you’re past experiences but please don’t let this stop taking you to the vet! they are just like doctors, they aren’t perfect. no one is. they are just trying unfortunately you just had two bad experiences:/ i e had great experiences! they have helped me with my puppies and my kittens in so many ways! :)
@@ratdoodles4370 I’m glad you had good experience with your vets . I now take my cats to holistic vets (they’re great) I like vets who are in tune with natural remedies as well as modern medicine - you can tell which ones actually care about the treatment of animals and those who only care about money .
from owning pets , taking in strays to fostering, always do what you can to be prepared for their passing. it is gonna happen indefinitely unavoidable. Seems like Lady was attempting to quarantine Gus to nurse him separately from the litter till he got better maybe but also as i wonder if she was placing Gus exactly where you both were asking for possible intervention of you both in her momma cat instinct? That is sort of the vibes i was getting of it.
I understand everything your going through about 5 years ago I lost my pregnant dog shadow weird name right but as she was goi g through labor about half way through the first puppies birth she passed away at 11 05 pm and all of her puppies died as well and for about 2 weeks I was very miserable because we did everything together and then I got a dog named rusty but about 9 months after I got him I had to give him away because my family was moving to a rental out of state with me and no pets allowed in rentals so ya it's been very hard but I got through it and that is what makes me strong
my cat would move the location of her kittens all the time, even the daddy cat did it. eventually one kitten died. maybe they were trying to tell me something, but i didnt know. 😔 😔
I can’t tell if you don’t recognize the phrase or if you’re just saying that in disbelief but I’ll explain it. When your lying an animal go your just saying there’s nothing more to be done to save the animal so you have to let them go and either put them down or let them die peacefully 💜
Rip gus gus. 💔 it's like 2 months later and I saw the birth video. And today I found this so sad.
Why did this have to happen😭 he had a whole life ahead of him😭

It took a couple years to decide to get another one but found two sibling sisters…. Fancy and Scooter. They came from a no kill shelter at 3 mo old and are precious to my husband and I. Keep up the great work you do and I hope your VLOGs will encourage others to take on the challenge of becoming foster parents.
OMG seeing the plaque with his little paws just crushed me😭😭
That’s the part when I lost it and started bawling
Cried the whole video. Thank you for helping cats in need. I just found your channel.
Aww my heart goes out to you for having such a wonderful feeling of fostering God’s precious creatures I love cats, my husband and I are proud parents of a beautiful orange tabby kitten named REMINTON and we Love him so much, we adopted him when he was 8 weeks old. I actually came back to see Lady’s delivery her kittens and you’re so sweet and loving with with her and her babies I felt your pain on Gus Gus, may the Lord bless your kind heart not just for fostering but also for loving every single one of those precious babies🙏🏼❤️Rip Gus Gus🐈
rip Gus Gus :(
one out of my 5 kittens preferred to sleep then play, I looked this up and fading kitten syndrome popped up.
You can hear the sadness in her voice
I’m crying just watching this
We also had 3 kittens whom we used to fed .They all were exactly of same greyish colour.
Actually They were Street kittens but their mom was killed by dog when they were just 2 weeks old . So we started giving them food, as they used to roam near our house .
They were growing fine till now and were 3 months old.
But on 2nd jan 2024, while they were roaming on the road, one of those kittens was killed by another 2 dogs 😔
He was the biggest among all 3 kittens. The Other 2 kittens are still safe, don't know for how long.
I feel really sad now because of that 3rd kitten death
This is so sad 😭
Thank you so much for sharing❤Lady and her kitties had the best start and support ever
Thank you so much ❤️
Rest in peace beautiful baby❤
I found my cat when she was a tiny kitten in the middle of the street, alone, I took her in, she could fit in my hand and I bottle fed her.
Ahww, thank you for sharing. I'm happy Gus Gus with you and your husband. I have four cats and I dread the day when it's their time to go, dreading. I'm enjoying every second with my kitties. I'm really looking forward to your next fostering video series.
Rip Gus Gus❤ you will always be missed❤
gus gus was the cutest one tbh w/u. :(
Thank you for sharing. You definitely made Gus Gus last moment special.
You are such a nice person! Thank you for opening your hearts and home to Lady and her babies. ❤️
Poor baby... rest well. We are all with you Gus Gus.
God bless you guys for all that you do ! Sensitive people are the most strongest people I believe ❤
I cried so much omg 😭😭
I know what pain you are feeling because I had to deal with this same pain of Loosing pets. The pets I lost were all cats and they all were out outside cats and sadly all passed from really bad drivers hitting them. Because they passed the same way when the 2end and 3erd cat passed I remembered the other(s) that passed making their deaths even more painful.
Rip Gus Gus, “to have great grief is a mark of great love” -Dumbledore I think
You both are AMAZING Humans!!! From one animal lover to another Thank you so much!!! We also rescue from our shelter and have adopted many cats and dogs! Do not think I could foster due to not being able to let them go, but love my 2 dogs and 2 cats I have now❤️❤️❤️❤️
Rest In Peace Gus Gus we love you you will have a friend soon my 7 year old cat named mike I love you Gus Gus
We started
I cried from the beginning of the video to the end ,, I love cats very much. 😢😢😢
I had at beautiful baby boy die yesterday the morning was horrible he was only 8 weeks old and how I saw him die it was one of the worst things a parent can do but if you do it for them your strong, he was the best one
RIP 🪦 GUS GUS SO SAD 😭
I'm so sorry. He was a great kitten and was looking healthy, but mother nature didn't like him in this world. He deserved better ❤
This amazing comment only has one like?!

Gus Gus was my favorite ❤😢
So Sorry for your lost of Gus Gus 🫶🏻

Vets also said about my sisters cat to put her down because she had flea rash or something and my sister sister made her better ) can’t imagine if we followed the vets advice :( I believe if something isn’t deadly these some kind of cure out there ❤
P.s I cried watching this video. Something about the Innocence all these creatures 😢❤
uhh listen..i’m sorry about your lack of trust in the vets due to you’re past experiences but please don’t let this stop taking you to the vet! they are just like doctors, they aren’t perfect. no one is. they are just trying unfortunately you just had two bad experiences:/ i e had great experiences! they have helped me with my puppies and my kittens in so many ways!
Why did Gus have to go sorally, he was a cute kitten. You will be missed Guscus😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I watched this a while before I got kittens. I didn’t expect to be back while one is possibly fading…
I’m so sorry 😞 If you suspect it and you’re able to, please get him to a vet asap
Could not finish the video it’s so sad
I understand everything your going through about 5 years ago I lost my pregnant dog shadow weird name right but as she was goi g through labor about half way through the first puppies birth she passed away at 11 05 pm and all of her puppies died as well and for about 2 weeks I was very miserable because we did everything together and then I got a dog named rusty but about 9 months after I got him I had to give him away because my family was moving to a rental out of state with me and no pets allowed in rentals so ya it's been very hard but I got through it and that is what makes me strong
I just lost my baby. I understand
So sorry for your loss 😢💔🌈

Iam sorry for loss 😢😢😢😢
I’m sobbing why did this have to happen 😢
sorry about gus gus's death
🕊🌸
dam 😢
What does the nurse mean let Gus Gus go?
I can’t tell if you don’t recognize the phrase or if you’re just saying that in disbelief but I’ll explain it. When your lying an animal go your just saying there’s nothing more to be done to save the animal so you have to let them go and either put them down or let them die peacefully 💜
We lost our cat in labour... So there's that..
